LEGO planes, trains, and automobiles! Well, maybe not trains, since they don’t like to play with the other LEGO themes, but here you’ll find all our favorite cars, buses, boats, ships, helicopters, and anything else with an engine (and some without).

Get on your LEGO bike, and ride

My two loves in life are bikes and LEGO, so you can imagine how excited I am by Tim Schwalfenberg‘s LEGO bike. Tim’s fixie has an awesome rigid frame, old school brown leather seat and a clever solution to re-inventing the wheel.

Bicycle

My only concern is that the chain needs a touch of oil…

Give me space to build!

As February comes to an end, it brings us the final rovers of FebRovery 2016. Jon Blackford has probably got the most stylish couple of rovers in the whole galaxy.

FebRovery Construction Crew

Although, the flatbed’s curves may get all the attention (which they undoubtedly deserve), be sure to have a look at the loader’s arms — a beautiful example of how to get an impressive result with just a few plain gray pieces.

This hot rod will set the tarmac ablaze

Andrea Lattanzio has a talent for building awesome LEGO vehicles, and his latest build is almost too hot to handle.  The original Fire Truck is a’67 Chuck Miller’s Ford C-cab and was designed as a custom car to win prizes at car shows.  Andrea’s LEGO version manages to be just as cool hot as the original.

Fire Truck | '67 Chuck Miller’s Ford C-cab

Andrea included chromed parts to give the vehicle that special shiny hot rod feel, but his fire truck is made purely from genuine LEGO parts. I particularly love the shiny V-8 engine and the pipes leading to the exhaust — as a chick, it’s not often I can say an engine is a thing of beauty! The ladder is created with 3mm hose and reddish brown minifig hands to ensure the correct dimensions — great attention to detail, Andrea.  Also, the build has a nice mix of Fabuland accessories, such as the axe and fire helmet used to match the scale of the vehicle.

We’ve blogged Andrea previously on TBB, and it’s definitely worth taking a look at his Green T – 1923 Ford Model T1932 Ford roadster and, my own personal favourite, his VW Transporter getting an overhaul.

A pair of hardcore hot rods

If you love cars, you can’t go wrong with taking a stroll through Calin‘s photostream. Doing so will lead you to models such as these two below — a low-riding VW Beetle with superb engine detailing called “Salty Bug”…

Salty Bug

And something that looks more like a Hot Wheels (but it’s LEGO, so it’s much better)…

The Purple People Eater

Seeing these really makes me happy that you can get yourself a similar build in an official set. 75875 Ford F-150 Raptor & Ford Model A Hot Rod comes with a modified Ford Model A (say that 10 times fast) that not only looks the part, but has printed door pieces ablaze with flames. I imagine this set is going to be very desirable for that alone.

Thrusty, red spaceships go faster...

Thomas W. has built a ship; and not just any ship, but a heavily armed scouting ship called New Horizon. Thomas tells us that it is designed for long distance flights, so it has lots of propulsive power. But let’s not forget the importance of weapons to protect it from any naughty people. New Horizon has a nice, aggressively angled cockpit and a host of lovely details across the ship’s body work.

The new horizon (Kolibri 2.0)

Thomas’ use of stickers is spot on, with just enough to give it identity markings but without distracting from the lovely shaping and greebles. It is definitely worth taking a look at the rear view to see the ‘horsepower’ behind this ship …deliciously ‘thrusty’ for such a compact design.

The new horizon - back

I’m just not sure where the lavatory is located for those essential breaks during long distance flights…

Rock across the galaxy in The Astrosurfer with The Highway Stars

Every colorful rock band needs a colorful ride in which to clatter from gig to gig. There are few bands more colorful than this group of space rockers (though I miss my favorite green space man, who must have been relegated to be a roadie), imagined by the eccentric mind of Julius von Brunk, and Julius has built The Highway Stars an appropriately garish purple space jalopy.

The Astrosurfer & The Highway Stars

While the band certainly provides an entertaining distraction, the real star here is their space car, The Astrosurfer, which has a detailed interior and even a brick-built engine under the hood.

1930s Fire Truck is ready for your parade

You’ve been there, I’m sure — on the sidelines, snacking on your candy tossed from other floats. Then here they come: The classic cars of days gone by. All beautiful, to be sure, but who doesn’t love when the old fire trucks come out of retirement, fire up their diesels, and head down main street in their bright red glory? Tim Schwalfenberg has captured this beautiful moment rather spectacularly. The classic hood shaping, the wood grates and that delightful ladder all make this an instantly recognizable build.

Surfin’ Safari checks out nicely

Sebastiaan Arts has built a cracker of a beach-bound pickup truck for the 100th Lugnuts Challenge. The tan and dark green color scheme has a beautiful 50s vibe to it, and the accompanying deck chair and surfboard are wonderful additions.

Life is a surf, man

The truck features an opening hood, revealing the engine, and a detailed chequered interior. I’d highly recommend you take a look at all the images for loads of lovely little details.

A rover a day keeps the space physician away

Frost is churning out a small army of new rovers for this year’s FebRovery challenge. He’s posted a new one each day this month and will, presumably, have created twenty-nine of them by the time FebRovery is over and done with. So far, his rovers have spanned several building styles and themes. His most recent build is a race rover with beautiful angles and a very impressive spoiler.

Frost’s other builds include forklift-style loading rover, several construction-themed rovers, and my favorite, a shark-controlled survey rover Check out all his rovers on Flickr.

Resisting arrest?

When you’re scouting for things worth blogging, it’s easy for your head to get turned by enormous creations or complex builds. However, sometimes it can be a relatively simple model in a good composition which catches the eye. This neat diorama from city.s is a great example of how a clean building style, decent photography, and a touch of humor can create an arresting image (pun absolutely intended)…

Everyone knows red cars get pulled over more often

The color contrast in the picture is excellent, with the red of the “resistance piece car” really popping against the blue sky backdrop. And the brick-built vehicle itself and the road surface are nicely done. But the choice of face for the Emmett minifig was the touch of detail which made me smile. And, when it comes down to it, surely that’s what a LEGO creation is for?

Even in LEGO, Mr. Bean travels in comfort

Brothers Brick contributor Elspeth De Montes puts the new Series 15 Collectible Minifigures mop to great use in this iconic scene from the quintessential British comedy show, Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean can’t fit all his new purchases into his adorable green Mini, so he jury-rigs a device to drive his car from the supple luxury of his rooftop recliner.

Porsche 911 GT3 has never looked so good

Building iconic sport cars is especially challenging due to a limited number or ways one can use to make the model recognizable. Moreover, eventually thousands of versions from different builders simply start to repeat one another. But Malte Dorowski sets the bar with the first photo of his album devoted to the new model of Porsche 911 GT3.

I think I would have left Malte’s car unnoticed if it wasn’t for an astonishing picture of the detailed inside. Detailed brake calipers, engine and red roll cage are truly outstanding and look a lot like those in collectible scaled models of cars.
