Abs to die for

We’ve seen a few LEGO Predators in our time — from small-scale Predators killed by alien queens, to massive brick-built Predator busts — but this bad boy from takamichi irie is a cracker. Wonderfully detailed for its scale, this model features excellent posability and comes equipped with a lovely selection of armaments. The face is brilliant — immediately recognisable in a handful of pieces. However, the highlight is surely the torso — those abs look like the result of a whole lot of crunches during interplanetary hunting trips.

Sherwood Forest recreated in gigantic LEGO display

The world of everyone’s favorite thief is expertly brought to life in this breathtaking and expansive LEGO creation by Ben Pitchford. Robin Hood would be proud to call this land home, with its depiction of Nottingham Castle, Sherwood Forest, and everything in between.

Built over the course of nine months and using more than 100,000 parts, this magnificent creation spares no details from the classic tales of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. You could easily get lost exploring Sherwood Forest with its towering trees and treetop hideouts…

What are the three rules of owning a LEGO Gizmo?

(1) Keep your Gizmo away from bright lights, (2) don’t let him get wet, and of course (3) never feed him after midnight …no matter how much he begs. If you can stick to these rules, then you might be ready to build your very own 1980’s furball. Or it might just be safer to admire John Toulouse‘s adorable LEGO Mogwai (complete with a stylish wooden box). Yeah, that’s probably your safest bet.

Moana’s pet rooster Hei Hei struts his stuff

If you haven’t seen Disney’s charming Moana, you may not recognize Hei Hei, the Pacific Island princess’s dim-witted and comical but seaworthy companion. I love how LEGO 7 has captured the quizzical head tilt of the foolhardy rooster. The colorful design staged against the pale blue looks exquisite. Take note of the minifig flippers for the plucky poultry’s wattle and the dark green round corner elements as tender chicken wings, although I am sure Maui would probably still say he needs fattening up.

LEGO officially reveals sets for Thor: Raganarok [News]

A month ago we got our first look at the new LEGO sets for Thor: Ragnarok, with the official box art and a few images. Now, however, LEGO is officially announcing the sets as they become available globally beginning today, though oddly they don’t release in the US until August.

Serve in Heaven or reign in Hell?

Even in LEGO form, a Neomorph is a terrifying thing to behold. RC Darman‘s most recent creation perfectly captures the horror that is Alien Covenant‘s nighttime wheat field scene. This Neomorph (which is an almost adorable cousin of the Xenomorph) looks lightning fast and is perfectly proportioned. Darman’s figs are also spot on (especially Daniels with that hair!) but I get the feeling they’ll need more than a little luck to make it through the night.

The LEGO Batman Movie’s The Ultimate Batmobile 70917 [Review]

Even though The LEGO Batman Movie has been in theaters since February, LEGO Batman is back this summer with a whole new wave of sets. Many of the sets this time around feature some of the more spoiler-ish elements of the movie, but nothing that will ruin the movie if you haven’t yet seen it. The flagship of this wave is 70917 The Ultimate Batmobile, which we got our first look at in February at the New York Toy Fair. It’s a massive creation from the film’s turning point that features a Batmobile, Bat-Tank, Batcycle, and Batwing all joined into a rolling fortress for Batman and his cohort. By far the largest of The LEGO Batman Movie sets, The Ultimate Batmobile has 1,456 pieces and will retail for $129.99 USD and should be available June 1.

The set includes 8 minifigures, along with a light-up Batsignal.

This piece of junk made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs

Happy 40th anniversary, Star Wars! Sad Brick has created this wonderful microscale Millenium Falcon to help us celebrate. Despite being made out of only two or three bricks each, our much-loved heroes are instantly recognizable – and I just love the cupcake top for Chewie’s head! The scene is packed full of skillful little details, like the piping on the back wall, the sideways use of tan arch elements, and LEGO shooters used for the seam of the landing bay doors. The Corellian freighter itself is a fantastic representation of the most beloved ship in the galaxy. The guns, the dish, and the cockpit all look perfect and that subtle coil of LEGO string charging the Falcon is a masterstroke.

Three-tiered LEGO diorama recreates every Star Wars movie

Today is the 40th anniversary of the opening day of Star Wars. To celebrate, teen builder Bryan Ng built this diorama that showcases scenes from every Star Wars movie released so far, including last year’s Rogue One. With vignettes spread across several levels and around all four sides, the setup of this diorama is reminiscent of the LEGO Death Star. It deservedly won 1st prize in a Star Wars fan build showcase held in Malaysia last week to celebrate this auspicious movie milestone.

Bryan’s Mustafar scene from Revenge of the Sith is excellent, with lava flowing beneath Obi-wan Kenobi as he battles the soon-to-be-crispy Anakin Skywalker.

Brickheadz face-hugger is chest-burstingly cute

Alien: Covenant hits theaters in the U.S. this week, which is the only thing me and my wife have talked about for weeks (we’d be a tad more excited if Ridley Scott had nothing to do with it, but that’s a whole other discussion). It’s been a long, long time since we’ve had a decent Alien movie. Over here at TBB headquarters we were stoked to see all the recent Alien-themed builds as the release date grew nearer, but absolutely no one could have anticipated this perfectly timed creation by Manufactura Jarema.

This is the Alien franchise presented in all its face-hugging, chest-bursting and hole-punching glory, but with the delightfully adorable twist that can only come from a Brickheadz character. Could the violent implantation of a parasitic alien and its gruesome exit from a human body be any cuter? We certainly think not.

3,000 piece custom minifigure-scale Guardians of the Galaxy Milano

Many of you have probably seen the official LEGO Milano 76081 from the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, or maybe even read our review of the microscale Milano which LEGO is currently giving away. Tyler Clites liked the ship so much, he made his own custom 3000 piece minifig-scale version with full interior! At 2 feet wide and a foot long, Tyler has recreated the unique shapes and curves of the craft with some very clever building techniques; the “beak” of the ship looks fantastic, and he has captured the swept back wings and feathered ailerons with style.

We must away! We must away! We ride before the break of day!

Built for the 2017 Middle Earth LEGO Olympics, Farewell We Call to Hearth and Hall! is a beautiful little vignette based on J.R.R Tolkien’s song of the same name that Merry and Pippin sing on the night before they leave the Shire. John Snyder has portrayed the three main themes of the song: hearth and home, travel through the wild, and Rivendell.

The hobbit hole looks great. I also love the tree leaves on grass stalks and intricate domed building on levers! But most impressive is how John has stitched the three scenes together with the irregular rock shapes in the forest.
