Marvel made its LEGO debut in 2002 with the Spider-Man sub-theme of LEGO Studio. Since then we’ve seen LEGO sets based on most films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, X-Men, as well as a steady stream of Spider-Man sets for builders of all ages. Large-scale sets like Avengers Tower, The X-Mansion, and The Daily Bugle have proven incredibly popular with collectors and builders alike.

This little LEGO moody Groot is on the move

In Avengers: Infinity War, cute little Groot has grown up — at least, a bit. Now he’s moody Groot, a treenager with his nose deep in his games. TBB’s Builder in Residence Iain Heath is getting Groot out of the house, but good luck getting his headphones off. In a series of photos over the next few days, Iain will be showcasing this adorably grumpy Groot around the city — not that Groot is likely to notice anything. The little LEGO Groot is remarkably poseable, and has the perfect squinting scowl befitting a petulant youngster.

Toys R Us LEGO minifigure packs revealed, featuring Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Marvel, Ninjago [News]

Toys R Us, which is still operating in a number of countries despite its well-publicized bankruptcy in the United States, has today uploaded images of four new LEGO minifigure packs. These have traditionally been offered as part of Toys R Us’ annual Bricktober promotion, though unlike previous years, this year’s packages are devoid of any Toys R Us or Bricktober-specific branding. Consequently, we can’t confirm yet if these will be exclusive to Toys R Us, especially given the retailer’s drastically reduced market share. The four packs are each themed to a specific license, featuring Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Marvel Super Heroes, and Ninjago, and include a number of exclusive characters.

Update: LEGO has confirmed on Twitter that these sets will be coming to Barnes & Noble in the United States, though likely with a different timeline than the Toys R Us packs in other parts of the world.

Update 2: LEGO has amended their statement on Twitter, clarifying that only the Harry Potter set will be available via Barns & Noble, with no word yet on availability for the others.

The Famous Family of Four and quite Fantastic too

BrickHeadz builds work pretty well for all things coherent and familiar, such as consistent uniforms or builds of famous characters. This fantastic family of four by Adam Dodge stands out among the usual BrickHeadz characters because they each have a bit of a unique attribute to show off, from the fiery human torch with his transformation to flames and the Invisible Woman showing off her powers with a partially invisible leg to Dr Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic flexing his arm.

The unique piece here is the Thing, which breaks away from the typical BrickHeadz template in size and works well with the brick studs exposed. I wanted to call out to Adam that I did notice his slip-in of Captain Salazar’s forehead printed piece, which works quite well on the base as cracks due to the weight of Benjamin Grimm.

Relive the battle of Sokovia from The Avengers: Age of Ultron in this huge collaborative display

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has given us some epic spectacles in recent years, with the battle of Sokovia from The Avengers: Age of Ultron being one of the biggest. Inevitably it would take a team of super-talented builders to replicate the movie’s centre piece in LEGO form; step forward SaltyLUG who amazingly have achieved just this.

Displayed at Brickfair Virginia, this sprawling scene captures the key scenes from the battle in a single diorama. Amongst the exquisitely built streets mayhem’s breaking out everywhere. Look closely at the front of the church and you’ll find Thor, Vision and Iron Man confronting Ultron. Elsewhere Utron’s army causes havoc amongst the general populace. Inside the Novi Grad church the rest of the Avengers prevent further sentries from reaching and deactivating the repulsors keeping the chunk of Sokovia afloat.

There are many more details and several Easter eggs to find if you look close enough. The group have also recorded the development of the project on NS Brick Designs’ blog.

Third San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO exclusive revealed as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp [News]

The third and final set out of the three VHS-boxed-exclusives has been revealed and it is not a surprise to see a Marvel franchise attached to the theme. Ant-Man is featured as a bust together with a Wasp minifigure from the upcoming movie, emerging out of the bay in Giant-Man form (as seen in the trailers).

LEGO BrickHeadz 41626 Groot and Rocket from Avengers: Infinity War revealed [News]

BrickHeadz are being introduced fast and furiously this summer. The latest feature is the duo from Avengers: Infinity War, featuring Rocket Raccoon and teen Groot. In a similar configuration to the LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz: 41615 Harry Potter & Hedwig we just reviewed, Rocket Racoon comes in the 3×3 configuration while teen Groot is built to the standard BrickHead 4×4 size. LEGO hasn’t announced the release date or price yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you that info as soon as its available.

Summer 2018 wave of LEGO sets now available, including Arctic, Architecture, Ant-Man, Friends, and more [News]

The summer 2018 wave of LEGO sets is now available from the LEGO Shop, including many of the sets we highlighted from New York during the Fall 2018 Preview event a couple of weeks ago. The latest assortment from LEGO includes LEGO City Arctic Expedition sets with a mammoth and saber-toothed cats, two new LEGO Architecture sets, LEGO Friends, the new Marvel Ant-Man set, Pirate Roller-Coaster, and more.

New York streets and Spider-Man spring to life in LEGO

It seems like a crime how underrated Dutch builder Barthezz Brick is, and he’s lucky to have Spider-Man stop this crime! Barthezz Brick has been featured on the Brothers Brick before with a smaller downtown city scene, but he has outdone himself with this large and extremely detailed diorama of Spider-Man, surrounded by busy and realistic city life.

LEGO has unveiled a new set based on Marvel’s upcoming film Ant-Man and The Wasp named 76109 Quantum Realm Explorers. The set contains 200 pieces, three minifigures, and will be available for purchase June 1 for $19.99 USD.

LEGO Promotional Freebie 30525 The Guardians Ship [Review]

LEGO launched their Infinity War tie-in sets and the Hulkbuster at the beginning of the month, so we managed to snag a few freebies along with our 76105 Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition. One of the free gifts was a promotional polybag 30525 The Guardians Ship, which depicts a miniature version of the ship in 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle. Little is known about the Guardian Ship as it features in an upcoming movie, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War that is released next month.

A tale of two Hulkbusters (and a Hulk)

The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition that was released not very long ago gives everyone the potential to be a Tony Stark. However, both versions featured today just might make the official Hulkbuster set look a lot less menacing. They’re distinctly different builds of this monster machine, yet side-by-side they’re remarkably similar at a glance. Interestingly, both are significantly more poseable than the official version.
