Behind the scenes of the new LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House [Video]

LEGO has published a festive video showing off the new Winter Village set, 10267 Gingerbread House. Former LEGO Designer Tiago Catarino gives a hands-on tour of the set, showing off the whimsical design, play features and gingerbread minifigures.

Tiago said that the most difficult parts of designing the set were getting the multiple angles of the roof to work together as well as nailing the look of the chimney. He also told one of his dark secrets that he has actually never tasted gingerbread! Hopefully that changes this holiday season.

Tiago was a LEGO designer for a little over three years, but left earlier this summer for family reasons, meaning that this video has been kept under wraps for quite some time! We wish Tiago the best of luck, and thanks for leaving us with such a sweet goodbye present.

Santa has been to the LEGO Store!

We all know that Santa’s elves are good at what they do. But when it comes to gifts for LEGO fans, sometimes you just have to leave it to the LEGO experts! This lovely LEGO Santa, built by Brixe63, has decided to do a little shopping of his own. And what’s in the top of the bag? Pick-a-Brick cups, fresh off the giant wall at the back of the LEGO Store! There’s some nice parts usage to create the “cups” filled with colorful Technic rubber bands. We also can’t forget the clever use of gold bucket handles to form Santa’s belt.

LEGO BrickHeadz 40274 Mr. and Mrs. Claus [Review]

With the current amount of seasonal LEGO sets, it’s absolutely impossible not to add a LEGO model to your holiday home decorations. And when the trendy BrickHeadz figures meet the holidays, some of the sweetest and most adorable sets are born. LEGO BrickHeadz 40274 Mr. & Mrs. Claus is the fifth seasonal BrickHeadz set, and the only double-pack of the sub-theme. The set consists of 341 pieces, which makes it the third largest LEGO BrickHeadz set so far. LEGO reveals 10263 Winter Village Fire Station as their next holiday set [News]

Every year since 2009, LEGO has released an addition to their Winter Village theme. Following last year’s 10259 Winter Village Station, LEGO has revealed that the model for 2018 will be another type of station — a fire station! 10263 Winter Village Fire Station includes 1,166 pieces, six minifigures and a baby, a Dalmatian, red fire truck, frozen fountain and a Christmas tree.

The set will retail for $99.99 starting on October 1, with LEGO VIP availability beginning on September 13.

853663 LEGO Iconic Holiday Magnet [Review]

Each year LEGO reveals new ideas for holiday ornaments, and this time it’s an adorable 853663 LEGO Iconic Holiday Magnet consisting just of 45 pieces. The set is offered for $9.99/€6,99, and the reason for it to be a little bit pricey is a pair of modified bricks with magnets — somewhat peculiar pieces in uncommon color. At the same time, colours are what make this build a very pretty thing to decorate one’s dwelling with.

Share a Coke with Santa

This holiday season Lasse Deleuran is making sure everyone gets a Coke when his Coca Cola truck makes its way around town. The highlight of the model is the mosaic on the trailer, which is masterfully built with plates and bricks stacked both vertically and horizontally. Remarkably the truck is also powered with a SBrick and can be driven around with remote control. Frosty!

Say hello to my feathered friend

One thing’s for sure, you can always count on Tyler Clites for fun holiday themed builds, and his latest tactical turkey is no exception. I like Tyler’s simple yet effective solution for the bandolier and while easy to overlook, the single round sticking out of the out of the side of the machine gun is a nice touch. My favorite part has to be the determined facial expression and furrowed eyebrows, making this turkey look determined to live another year.

From all of us here at the Brothers Brick, we wish everyone in the US a happy Thanksgiving, and as you sit down to enjoy some delicious poultry, we hope none of your turkeys put up this big of a fight.

Announcing winners of the TBB Create-a-calendar contest [News]

Merry Christmas, dear readers! Here at the Brothers Brick compound, all the little doors on our three LEGO Advent calendars have now been opened, their bricky contents sit resplendent upon the mantelpiece, while the empty boxes burn in the fireplace, creating a warm glow upon our faces …or maybe that’s just the eggnog.

Before the Lemur began distributing our Secret Santa gifts (they’re all socks, they’re always socks) he reminded us to vote on the 46 entries in our Create-a-calendar building contest. As always, we were blown away by your ingenuity and skill. But there can only be three winners, and here they are…

There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor

SEBASTIAN-Z has created a series of vignettes inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and they are beautiful. Sadly missing the Ghost of Christmas Past, the builder says “I haven’t decided what to do for that one yet but wanted to upload these before Christmas”. The series starts with a glimpse into Scrooge’s office with it’s fine wooden furnishings, gold accented books and coins littering the floor:

Next, Marley’s ghost appears to Scrooge before whisking him away. The walls of the drawing room are cleverly constructed from LEGO wooden crates, giving them a lovely paneled effect:

Then we have Bob Cratchit’s family feast in his kitchen, shortly before Marley’s ghost tells Scrooge about Tiny Tim’s grave fate:

In the next image, we have Tiny Tim and the Cratchit’s with a clearer view of the kitchen. I like how the builder has created the wooden floors and mis-shapen walls:

Finally, we have The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come showing Scrooge his own fate if he does not change his wicked ways. I was delighted when I stumbled upon this wonderful series. It reminds me of Dickens’ “Carol Philosophy”, and there is nothing like this story to remind me of the true nature of Christmas, and I look forward to the conclusion.
