We’re all familiar with the loveable LEGO minifigure, right? And some recent sets and creations have also brought us the big-fig, whether from Harry Potter, Castle, or even a generic theme. But what about the minifigure representation on a medium scale? Donny Chen introduces us to a fresh-baked midi-scale LEGO figure with his delicious gingerbread man. In these post-holiday times, I must admit there’s such a thing as too much sugar. So thanks, Donny, for tempering the size of this cookie-fied fig to something more diet-friendly.
“Man the gumdrop cannons! We’re on General Kringle’s naughty list this year!” Builder Mike Sinclair gives us a LEGO scene that has the Christmas season fighting against itself. Maybe you’re rooting for St. Nick and his elven troops, armed with a present catapult and cannon. But if you’re like me, you’re on the side of the Gingerbread Kingdom. With their cookie castle surrounded by a chocolate moat, these confectionary combatants aren’t about to crumble under pressure. The fortress is a beautiful mish-mash of classic castle shapes laced with bits of icing and other sweet treats. It’s an extremely well-executed fusion of themes. And, much like the smell of gingerbread, it’s got me hungry for more!
Christmas has passed but that doesn’t stop us from still drinking egg nog and nibbling on gingerbread cookies. Calories be damned! Am I right? With that in mind, we couldn’t resist featuring this festive LEGO gingerbread stagecoach built by Kristel Whitaker. It has everything you could love in a Christmas-y creation; candy canes, pastries, cute ponies, and a lovely frosted stagecoach and gingerbread driver. There are even some carrots for those who couldn’t be bothered with holiday sweets. I don’t know about you, but I’m smitten. While I sip a spiked egg nog, you can check out all the other times we were smitten by the stuff Kristel has built.
LEGO has published a festive video showing off the new Winter Village set, 10267 Gingerbread House. Former LEGO Designer Tiago Catarino gives a hands-on tour of the set, showing off the whimsical design, play features and gingerbread minifigures.
Tiago said that the most difficult parts of designing the set were getting the multiple angles of the roof to work together as well as nailing the look of the chimney. He also told one of his dark secrets that he has actually never tasted gingerbread! Hopefully that changes this holiday season.
Tiago was a LEGO designer for a little over three years, but left earlier this summer for family reasons, meaning that this video has been kept under wraps for quite some time! We wish Tiago the best of luck, and thanks for leaving us with such a sweet goodbye present.
LEGO has revealed the newest set in their Creator Expert Winter Village line, 10267 Gingerbread House. This sweet treat of a set comes with 1,477 pieces, two minifigures of a gingerbread man and woman, and a printed tile with a gingerbread baby.
