This year’s TBB sponsored collaboration at BrickCon 2024 is all about growth! [News]

Once again, The Brothers Brick is hosting a collaboration of LEGO builds at this year’s BrickCon convention in Seattle. But in order to do this, we’re going to need a little bit of a rebrand. For BrickCon 2024, “TBB” is going to stand for “The Brothers Botany” as we host a garden of botanical builds on the convention floor.

If you’re interested in participating, our tilled plot of table space will be open to botanical creations of any scale, though we’re especially interested in real-world scale plants like those found in the LEGO Botanical Collection. Any creation where the plants are the focal point is welcome to join in. We have awards and prizes planned for the collab, with some additional surprises planted in the garden as well. To help fertilize any budding ideas you may have, I’ve got a few early MOCs of my own that’ll be making an appearance in the display.

Flex those green thumbs, builders, and be sure to select the “TBB Collaboration” when registering the theme of your botanical MOCs. We’ll see you all at the Meydenbauer in September!

BrickCon 2024 tickets on sale today for the public exhibition [News]

Starting today, tickets for the BrickCon 2024 public exhibition are now on sale. With the public days of the convention on September 7th and 8th, nearly 500 LEGO builders (some of them TBB contributors) will convene at Bellevue, Washington’s Meydenbauer Center to show off their creations. This year promises to be a great show featuring the theme of “Foundations,” made to celebrate those sets and themes which have been the bedrock of so many people’s experiences in the hobby. As in past years, the tickets are for a specific entry time on the day of choice to help mitigate crowds, and will retail for $19 (with a $3 discount for the last entry time each day). After selling out last year, be sure to purchase your tickets well in advance! For more information on all the show has to offer, and pictures from past conventions, visit Brickcon.org.

To mark the occasion, the partnership is introducing an exclusive line of LEGO Despicable Me 4 sets, sure to delight fans of the animated franchise. This range features four products, two of which were unveiled today: 75583 Minions and Gru’s Family Mansion and 75582 Brick-Built Gru and Minions. These sets will be available starting May 1st.

LEGO announces initiatives to support neurodivergent individuals in stores [News]

The LEGO Group has today announced that they will be implementing a series of measures to make life easier for autistic and neurodivergent children and adults in their brick-and-mortar stores. Work is being carried out with KultureCity, a charity whose aim is to facilitate the implementation of such measures. This is actually not the first time the two firms have worked together; the LEGO House, in Billund, Denmark, has already received KultureCity’s stamp of approval for sensory inclusivity. The aim is for all stores in the USA and Canada to get the same certification this April, with more locations worldwide to follow later in the year.

The LEGO Life Magazine will also receive some minor updates to make it more accessible for everyone. And the LEGO Foundation has also announced five new partners in their Play for All Accelerator program:

  • Social Cipher: a video game platform focused on social and emotional learning for the neurodivergent.
  • Kokoro Kids: A platform in Spanish, Portuguese, and English dedicated to using play for developing emotional skills early on in kids.
  • Mom’s Belief: an Indian-based organization (the largest in the country) approaching the education of neurodivergent children in a holistic manner.
  • onebillion: a software publisher dedicated to publishing reading and math resources designed to help those children in most need.
  • Little Journey: Using technology to bring a sense of ease to families with children amid the healthcare process.

LEGO celebrates Batman: The Animated Series with 76271 Gotham City Skyline art set [News]

2024 is seeing celebrations for 85 years since Batman was introduced to the world. LEGO, for its part, is choosing to mark the occasion with a set based on Batman: the Animated Series (which, coincidentally, also has 85 episodes). Made up of 4,210 pieces, 76271 Gotham City Skyline depicts a 3D backdrop of Bruce Wayne’s hometown in a similar vein to LEGO’s Art series. Gotham Cty’s art-deco buildings are recreated in the brick alongside references to moments in the 1990s TV show. Four minifigures are also included: villains Harley Quinn and the Joker; some-time antagonist Catwoman; and, naturally, Batman himself. Retailing for US $299.99 | CAN $389.99 | UK £259.99, 76271 Gotham City Skyline will be available from April 1st for LEGO Insiders, with general sale starting from April 4th.
