LEGO Art 31215 Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers – And it was all yellow [Review]

The LEGO Art theme promises to give builders a deeper appreciation of great works through the guided creation of their own replica masterpieces. Van Gogh’s Starry Night started as an Ideas project and was soon followed by The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Hokusai and DaVinci’s Mona Lisa. For the fourth painting to get the brick treatment, LEGO returns to the Dutch Impressionist Vincent van Gogh with 31215 Sunflowers. Containing 2,615 pieces, it’s the largest LEGO painting in the Art line, and one that the LEGO Company worked closely on with the Van Gogh Museum for maximum authenticity.  You can acquire your own copy of this iconic work starting on March 1st for US $199.99 | CAN $259.99 | UK £169.99Is it time to invest in a second Van Gogh for your collection? Let’s have a look!

Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers rendered in LEGO as newly unveiled Art set [News]

Three years ago, one of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings was turned into a LEGO set in the form of 21333 The Starry Night – part of the LEGO Ideas theme. Today, another brick-built depiction of the Dutch impressionist’s work is unveiled, but this time as part of the popular LEGO Art line: 31215 Vincent Van Gogh – Sunflowers. This new display piece depicts the fourth and perhaps most well-known painting in Van Gogh’s sunflower series. Or more specifically, a repetition thereof, created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, where the real painting is housed. Consisting of 2,615 pieces, you can hang your very own copy on the walls starting from March 1st. You can also pre-order it now at an RRP of US $199.99 | CAN $259.99 | UK £169.99. There are a host of events surrounding the product’s launch in Europe, too, so be sure to read the press release below for all the details!

The LEGO Group announces initiative for those with non-visible disabilities and sensory needs [News]

With the announcement of the newest LEGO modular building, LEGO Icons 10350 Tudor Corner, the LEGO Group is also debuting a new initiative to support those with non-visible disabilities, conditions, and sensory needs. And while there was an announcement earlier this year about TLG’s partnership with KultureCity to improve store experiences for neurodivergent shoppers, this new program adds to that work, recognizing those with sensory needs in LEGO set form. This will debut with the first ever inclusion of the sunflower lanyard in a children’s toy, beginning in 2025. Starting via a program for London’s Gatwick Airport in 2016, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower has become a worldwide self-identifier of those with an unseen disability, who may be in need of extra assistance when out in public. LEGO will bring awareness to this budding international symbol with references in the aforementioned LEGO Icons 10350 Tudor Corner (the bike-riding minifigure wearing a sunflower jumper), LEGO Friends Heartlake City Airport and Airplane, and LEGO DUPLO First Time at the Airport, all releasing in 2025.

Do you have a green thumb, or is that just paint on your finger?

Thanks to recent sets like The Starry Night and the Botanical Collection, decorating your home with LEGO is beginning to feel down right classy. Chi Hsin Wei has upped the ante by combining the two in this brick-built recreation of one of Van Gogh’s sunflower studies. While the background of this “painting” stays true to the feel of Van Gogh’s brushwork, the flowers feel freshly picked. The result is a beautiful study of contrasting build styles that works harmoniously as a single piece. Now that’s art!
