Along with the rest of the fall 2018 sets we’ve been closely following in conjunction with LEGO’s special preview event yesterday, LEGO has revealed all three of this year’s holiday season Advent calendars. As with most recent years, they follow the themes of City, Friends, and Star Wars, with the same prices as previous years: $29.99 USD each for City and Friends, and $39.99 for Star Wars. They will be available in September. Check them out below.

When we announced the rest of the new Ninjago lineup, we knew there would be at least one more set revealed. Now LEGO has revealed the Oni Titan mech as that final set. This fall the Ninjago crew is headed to the wastelands, where they’ll match wits and blades with a band of road warriors with fearsome scavenged vehicles. The Oni Titan, however, is a bit more traditional Ninjago, though we’re not sure yet if he’s fighting for the Ninjas or Garmadon. Besides the Oni Titan mech, the set includes 4 minifigures. Straight from the LEGO Summer 2018 launch event, we’re bringing you the latest product reveal in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes line, scheduled for release later this year — Ant-Man 76109 Quantum Realm Explorers set!
LEGO has just announced three more sets to the incredibly popular Minecraft theme. Having spawned from an Ideas set designed by fans (including yours truly) the Minecraft theme now consists entirely of minifigure-scale sets with lots of animals. Each set has an emphasis on modularity that’s consistent with Minecraft’s aesthetic.
This PvP arena set includes lots of rare features like Minecraft’s infamous Killer Bunny (a Monty Python reference), along with a golden apple, though it’s unclear if it’s enchanted or not. For LEGO builders, it’s worth noting the pearl gold 2×2 bricks, which is a new color for one of LEGO’s most common elements. This set includes a pair of player minifigures.

If you’re like me, you didn’t give The LEGO Ninjago Movie a lot of thought. Sure, The LEGO Movie was great, and The LEGO Batman Movie was surprisingly ok, but a movie based on LEGO’s 7-year-old homegrown Ninjago theme? Our own Dave Schefcik gave it a warm — if not exactly glowing — review, though it wasn’t the box office success that LEGO and Warner Bros hoped for. But unquestionably the film’s highpoint for fans like me — that is to say, adult builders — is that it brought us the absolutely stunning Ninjago City. As I reviewed that set last year, I was struck by the cyberpunk city’s incredible detail and gorgeous techniques. And now, although at first glance it seems an odd choice given that The LEGO Ninjago Movie’s short-lived hype has all but disappeared, LEGO is adding to Ninjago City. 70657 Ninjago City Docks will be available August 1 for $229.99 USD, and features 3,553 pieces and 13 minifigures.

At the LEGO Fall Preview 2018 event we got a chance to take a look at the new LEGO City trains that were revealed yesterday. The designers have chosen to stick with a familiar theme that includes another modern passenger train as well as an industrial type train.
