Stunning LEGO Darth Vader mask cleverly hides scenes from Star Wars

LEGO builder yu chris created this gorgeous replica of Darth Vader’s iconic samurai-inspired mask, which gleams with shades of black just like the original. But it’s not just a mask — turning it around reveals three clever chibi-style scenes from Anakin’s life. The tiny little Death Star hangar filled with parading stormtroopers is definitely my favorite bit, but the relief sculptures in the backgrounds of the other two scenes are each fantastic in their own right.

What happens when LEGO bricks encounter a hydraulic press? [Video]

Putting random objects into hydraulic presses just to see what happens is something of a craze online right now, so it was only a matter of time until our beloved bricks met someone brash enough to try to squeeze the life out of them. Here we see what happens when a LEGO minifig, a 2×4 brick, and eventually a full LEGO set are put under tremendous pressure. I think this is how LEGO Iron Builders are made.

If you’re squeamish about seeing LEGO bricks transformed into new shapes, look away now.

27 amazing LEGO vignettes bring Harry Potter to life

The amazing world of Harry Potter is only made more fantastic when portrayed through tiny LEGO vignettes. When we first spotted Marcel V.s series of astounding little Harry Potter scenes, he’d only created 5. He’s created them as a personal project to challenge himself throughout the month of March, producing almost one every day, and he’s now reached 27. Marcel tells us he worked 3-4 hours daily to create the scenes, and relied on inspiration from the books, movies, and even some Harry Potter games.

Come with me on a magical journey through the life of The Boy Who Lived.

Banksy’s Flying Balloons Girl in brick

This famous piece of street art by Banksy depicts a little girl drifting over the controversial wall in the West Bank. Grantmasters has skillfully reproduced the detailed silhouette in LEGO, and it remains as poignant as ever.

Things are looking Up for Carl Fredricksen

Carl Fredricksen charmed his way into our hearts as the lovable yet grumpy old man in Pixar’s Up. Kosbrick masterfully captures his character in this rendition, and uses some terrific forced perspective to set the South American plateau scene.

Walking Stick - Up Movie

This isn’t the first time we’ve featured a LEGO model of Carl or his house. Check out these other Up-inspired creations:

A stockade with a small fortprint

It doesn’t take much to keep out unwanted guests; just some steep walls with spikes on top, and a few cannon. Best to have lookout tower too, so you know when to man the guns. This wonderful stockade by Jonas Wide packs all that into a tiny package — just enough to keep a bit of border safe.

Dragonfly future-cycle

Don’t let the wings fool you, this isn’t a flying mech. It’s a three-wheeled cycle from the mind of Vince Toulouse. It’s not often I see a vehicle that looks truly unique, but this one definitely fits the bill, making great use of those Hailfire Droid wheels and Ant-man insect wings while somehow achieving a great retro-futuristic panache. Look closely and you’ll spot a rare Belleville crown as a decorative detail, and even notice that this isn’t minifig scale; instead it seats a Technic figure.

League of Legends’ Blitzcrank in brick form

League of Legends is populated by multitudes of fascinating and unusual characters, both in real life and in the game. One of the game’s more steampunky characters to be found in the game is Blitzcrank, the Great Steam Golem, and Eric Tsai’s LEGO version looks positively smashing and ready to crash your lane.
