These robots are ready to rock

Earlier this year, we introduced you to Bullseye, a literal drum machine. But Steve ‘Rubblemaker‘ Marsh was in the process of crafting an entire technological trio, and they have finally arrived! Queen Bou-D-1CA is the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist. She’s shredding like no human can, thanks to two fretting arms. And no doubt when she’s really wailing, that head of chains whips around in a dramatic show.

Meanwhile, the band’s bassit Gusoku the Low plays so fast that his instrument only needs two strings. Look at the way those articulate fingers can spread out. Bonus, Steve says the bass build really works, and it’s possible to get some notes out of it. That would be a great way to produce some music for set 21328.

Drumming up a dynamic LEGO musician mid-session

Steve ‘Rubblemaker‘ Marsh is well-known for his unconventionally-shaped spaceships. But he has more strings to his bow than just spacecraft! That’s proven by this snap of a robot drummer mid-jam. It’s deceptively large: red wheels, 4 studs wide in diameter, make up many of the smaller toms. But the drummer’s dextrous limbs are where the real complexity lies. According to Steve, achieving this dynamic pose required “independent movement in its neck, fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, waist, hips, knees and ankles”. So you know, just about every joint there is. Well, it was certainly worth the effort!

Well, shoot! That’s a big gun

Anyone who grew up on first-person shooters like Doom or Quake should recognize a few things in Steve Marsh AKA Rubblemaker’s LEGO build: the industrialized aesthetic, the glimpse of some otherworldly monster just waiting to be riddled full of bullets, and of course the giant minigun.

That's a lot of tentacles!

Tell the monster to wait a second while you inspect the build a little more.
