Mihe Stonee spent 3 months making this 2′ 6″ model of the USCSS Nostromo from the movie Alien. I like the texture created from using of bent rigid tubes tacked on the tiled hull, which mimics the feature seen on the actual ship.

Firefly Serenity custom kit for sale
Those who were disappointed with CUUSOO’s rejection of tbone_tbl‘s Firefly Serenity can now purchase it as a custom kit with instructions and all the parts to assemble the model. It is being sold on Etadyne.com for $385, which I think is a fair price for this custom 2186-piece model.

Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) creates my favourite scene from one of the most fantastic movies of all time…The Fifth Element! Matt says that he has wanted to build this for going on 2 years now. I am very happy that he got around to it!

2012 NnoVVember Map
Once again Pascal (pasukaru76) worked his magic with the final Nnovvember map. This year was a very impressive turnout of 269 Vic Vipers by 133 different builders! I actually found it hard to keep up with all the amazing creations this year…I am still playing catch up in fact.
Awesome job everyone and as usual a huge thanks to Pascal! It really makes me proud to be a part of such an amazing community that continues to come together from all corners of the Earth to remember and honour the late Nate “Nnenn” Nielsen.
Santa zips around the galaxy aboard his Candy Cane-class space corvette
In the distant future, when humanity has spread to hundreds of habitable planets in the galaxy, when good little boys and girls live thousands of light years away from the North Pole on Earth, how does Santa Claus deliver their toys on Christmas? Why, aboard SCSS Rudolph, the jolly old elf’s Candy Cane-class space corvette, of course!
The Rudolph features a pair of high-gain subspace comm arrays, a Hawking-Kaku event horizon drive, and a cargo hold that takes advantage of Gallifreyan technology to maximize interior capacity.
Build notes: I actually threw this together back in January, during my Chris Foss-inspired microscale phase, when I was trying a variety of color combinations. Red and white looked a little too Christmasy, so I went ahead and added a red nose, a pair of antlers, and some green accents, and then saved it until now. When I start building, I often don’t quite know where a LEGO model is going to end up.
Photo notes: Other than adjusting the exposure a bit, you’re looking at a completely unprocessed photo; everything you see in the photo is 100% official LEGO. BrickCon received some discarded LEGO signage from a toy store, including the backdrops for LEGO aisle displays, and I snagged a couple of card-stock pieces printed with space scenes. Expect to see this LEGO planet in my photos from time to time…
Somewhere in the Crinita-Gelum Belt...
I love a good lander, and this realistic future on an icy planetoid by Ludgonious certainly doesn’t disappoint. The melted pool and vents are also wonderful elements of this alien landscape.

The ladies of LEGO space
We featured the LEGO-inspired artwork of the Surma Bros. back in June. Marcin and Przemek post stylized versions of classic LEGO sets every Sunday.
LEGO fans have bemoaned the dearth of female LEGO minifigs over the years. In the past, each LEGO theme usually included just one woman — a world I wouldn’t want to live in, but appealing to 9-year-old boys, I suppose. One of the Surma Bros’ latest drawings features all of the ladies of the LEGO Space themes over the years, including Classic Space, M-Tron, Exploriens, and Ice Planet 2002.
Speaking of Ice Planet 2002, Marcin and Przemek also posted a beautiful poster highlighting this much-maligned and belatedly loved theme.
The Way The World Will End (I Hope)
Flickr user OliveSeon has built some of the most impressive large town dioramas I’ve seen. There are lots of people building cityscapes using official sets mixed in with their own creations and landscaping, but rarely are the official sets so well integrated. Additionally, he’s packed them both chock full of terrific details of his own, like a giant gazebo, full depth swimming pool and surf pool, a large factory, and lots of other fantastic stuff.

But just building a placid town wasn’t cool enough. No, on his second diorama, OliveSeon has gone for full-out apocalyptic anarchy, old-school style, with Godzilla battling a Gundam across the seaside city, turning what was already a stunning diorama into pure awesomeness. The flame effects are particularly awesome, and very reminiscent of their on-screen special effects counterparts.
Be sure to check out both of OliveSeon’s other dioramas as well, each of which are worthy of their own posts: though untitled, I believe they are Disneyland and San Francisco. A thorough perusal of all the photos will be rewarded, as there are brilliant details to be discovered in every picture.
Holy moly – Nick’s Vic Viper has it all!
I actually avoided featuring Nick Trotta’s (tardisblue) model over the weekend and hoped one of my cohorts would do it first…I simply didn’t know how to properly express how cool this build is! But they didn’t so I guess I can nolonger avoid it.
So instead of trying to put it into words, I will simply make note of some of the descriptive words that were posted on the photo:
Beautiful, Spectacular, Perfection, Gorgeous, Mind-blowing, Fan-freakin’-tastic, Wonderful, & Zowie!
And perhaps, Fredoichi summed it up best:
“Best of show, period!”
Inside the box...
There are a lot of zany Vic Viper designs out there, but it is really nice to see a good ol’ classic design every now and then. Uspez Morbo has produced one such spacecraft with his BP-8272 Stealth. It is a perfect example of how you can stick close to a design while still giving it a personal twist. The colouring, sleek lines, and overall girth make this one beautiful looking starfighter…the little hits of red really make it pop for me!
Uspez is no stranger to large scale starfighters, as this wonderful trio shot showcases!

Yaeyama D3 Vic Viper by Fredoichi
The last three months of every year have become quite the flurry of LEGO challenges and contests, with NoVVember swooping in right on the mechanical heels of Ma.Ktober. For those of you concerned about the proliferation of mecha and starfighters over the last few weeks, fear not! The Colossal Castle Contest will be bringing you plenty of gorgeous castles and comely medieval lasses through the end of December.
In the meantime, enjoy this rockin’ viper by Fredo. With splashes of light blue against two lovely shades of brown, plus a clone-brand cockpit, I’m sure the late, great Nnenn would be proud.

MOVING OUT by Pierre E Fieschi
I had posted Pierre’s wonderful ship last week, but this is simply too beautiful of a photo to not do this update. The only thing edited in this shot is the background and engine glow. The glow of the ships lights is achieved by using electroluminescent wire on the interior of the vessel.
