There’s nothing like a massive LEGO diorama to prove that you’ve arrived as a LEGO builder. The LEGO dioramas we feature here span everything from realistic medieval castles to scenes from World War II, and more than a few post-apocalyptic wastelands.

Some of Corran101’s animals are more equal than others

I first read George Orwell’s Animal Farm as a child, long before learning about the complex allegory of historical references (such as Snowball‘s representation of Leon Trotsky). When I read it again in college, a whole new dimension opened on the page.

Harrison uses BrickForge animals to illustrate a crucial scene in the book:

Beyond the Sky

My latest contribution to the post-apocalypse theme is a diorama depicting a desolated scene where one man has remained on these grounds to construct a machine that will lead to salvation. But as time progresses, hope is about to turn into a deeply disturbing discovery. Find out what happened by reading the short story on MOCpages.

This creation is also my entry for the ApocaLEGO Picking up the Pieces Contest on Flickr that ends on July 31st. There’s still more than two weeks left to paricipate!

Rocko’s typical village

One of our favorite castle builders Rocko presents another example of his typical work, featuring atypical things such as slithering tentacles in the village well. But for you builders out there interested in atypical techniques, check out the way Rocko incorporated a diagonal house into the standard studs-up base. I believe the magic was the right placement of tiles to cover up the inevitably misaligned edges.

Tim Goddard sends in the clones

Tim Goddard adds a new microscale LEGO Star Wars diorama to his Mustaneer set with this great scene from the Clone Wars:

The brick-built smoke effects are great — especially where the laser beams rake across the ground. Tim’s microscale vehicles always good, but I love the red-white-and-blue Republic Gunship.

Exploring planet Nidoria

Flickr user Chrispockster makes a diorama depicting a retro space landing on the fictional planet Nidoria. Some highlights include the organic alient plant life and the interesting color choice for the planet’s surface, which I think might just be plain yellow shaded dark during the photography process. The final result looks great.

Attack of the Primal Bots!

Rong Yiren has continued his primal bot series with a couple of action-packed dioramas.

I’m loving these little guys.

Row, row, row your boat...

…gently down the stream to the Fabuland Riverbank. SlyOwl’s newest creation is an incredible piece of eye candy. From the flowing river to the autumnal tree, from the exotic cheeses to the lightup fireplace, this creation is bursting with whimsical details.

Smod heads home after the apocalypse

Smod showcases a survivor repairing a really great four-treaded mech in a snowy landscape — his entry in the Picking up the Pieces contest:

The life of a sniper isn’t easy

Nick Dean has included lots of realistic details in this scene illustrating the life of a sniper:

Château sur la Rivière by DARKspawn

Aaron Andrews presents a French castle on a river, titled (appropriately enough) “Château sur la Rivière”:

My favorite detail is the tiles on the crenellations. Check out the full gallery on Brickshelf.

Indiana Jones mine cart chase roundup

Despite Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom being many people’s least favorite film in the original trilogy, the mine cart chase scene remains one of my own favorites. It would seem that many LEGO fans agree, given the large number of LEGO creations inspired by this iconic sequence in the movie.

Although a couple days too late for the Indy contest on Klocki, I think this large vignette by Simon Tzidik captures the spirit of the scene best:

I love the curved tracks and sense of motion in Piglet‘s version:

I can feel the heat on the soles of Indy’s shoes in this scene by Mara-chan:

Finally, Piotr Slezak goes vertical with this multi-level vignette:

Indiana Jones and the Steel Wishbone

Gorazd Vahen pits Indiana Jones against a mechanical monstrosity of the Third Reich in this great diorama featuring Ms. Bunhead, as played by a certain princess from a galaxy far, far away:
