Magic school is back in session with this LEGO tribute to the wizardy world of Owl House

Over three seasons, Dana Terrace’s The Owl House cemented itself as maybe the best stories ever told about a misfit from the mundane world finding family and purpose in a magical world. It has school drama, magical team sports, sorting into your ordained role, complicated families, fantastic creatures, and some of the best wizard duels to ever hit the screen. It also won a Peabody, each season was nominated for a GLAAD award, and the creator never punches down. Builder Timofey Tkachev recreated the series’ most iconic location, the titular Owl House, home of Eda “the owl lady” Clawthorne, out of over 4000 LEGO bricks. Timofey adeptly captures the house’s unusual angles but it’s the stunning stained glass window that really catches the eye. Another version of the Owl House made it to the review stage on LEGO ideas, but unfortunately didn’t make the cut, but you can find instructions for Timofey’s version on Rebrickable.

What in tarnation? Timofey Tkachev is back with a rootin’ tootin’ varmint shootin’ Yosemite Sam in LEGO

Back in the halcyon pre-COVID days, Timofey Tkachev was one of TBB’s most featured builders. With a catalog of works that includes massive spacecraft, modulars, props, cartoon characters, and mind-bending artistic sculptures, Timofey defies categorization. Back in 2023, Timofey’s prolific run seemed to come to an end as the builder stopped posting for a couple of years. Now he’s back with a rootin’ tootin’ take on Yosemite Sam the third Looney Tunes tribute from the builder. It’s a spot-on likeness of the trigger-happy toon, making good use of orange tiles in that magnificent moustache. The canted cacti are quite impressive too.

Horsin’ around when LEGO meets Bojack Horseman

Will Arnett has plenty of credits in the LEGO-verse, from voicing LEGO Batman in several movies to hosting the US version of LEGO Masters. But Trevor Pearson-Jones wants to celebrate a different one of Arnett’s characters with this excellent take on Bojack Horseman. Heavily inspired by the set 31140 Magical Unicorn, the creature of majesty and dreams is replaced instead with a washed-up TV star/anthropomorphic horse from the 1990’s. Probably something more appropriate in the Icons theme…

LEGO, Illumination, and Universal partner to launch Despicable Me 4 sets this spring [NEWS]

The LEGO Group, Illumination, and Universal Products & Experiences have officially confirmed their partnership on a new venture. Contrary to recent speculation sparked by an April Fools’ Day prank on social media, this collaboration does not involve a giant Minion. Instead, the trio is gearing up for the release of Illumination’s highly anticipated film, Despicable Me 4, hitting theaters on July 3. To mark the occasion, the partnership is introducing an exclusive line of LEGO Despicable Me 4 sets, sure to delight fans of the animated franchise. This range features four products, two of which were unveiled today: 75583 Minions and Gru’s Family Mansion and 75582 Brick-Built Gru and Minions. These sets will be available starting May 1st.

Casa de la Familia Madrigal: A brick-built Replica of Encanto’s Iconic House

Is this not the outcome every LEGO creative builder aspires to when encountering something they want to recreate in LEGO? “Casita,” arguably the standout feature of Disney’s film Encanto, was released in LEGO form in late 2021. With the release of 43202 The Madrigal House, LEGO provided enthusiasts of all ages with a glimpse of the potential in using LEGO bricks to build “Casita” from the movie. Builder kopoppo_mama has skillfully blended creativity and photorealism to bring “Casita” to life using what one could only assume is an exceedingly large quantity of LEGO bricks. A platypus? A... LEGO platypus?

*gasp* PERRY the LEGO platypus?! That’s right, the intrepid Agent P and his erstwhile nemesis Dr. Doofenshmirtz are the subject of Tino Poutiainen‘s latest build. The devious doctor’s latest scheme is taking aim at the LEGO Character and Creature Building System (CCBS) line! This machine, dubbed the Systeminator, will reduce all your glorious Bionicle and Hero Factory pieces to mere studs. Poor Perry here is the first victim. Is this how Tino is planning to eliminate the competition in the 2023 Bio-Cup, for which this is built? Is that even legal? I’m not sure the regulations accounted for this eventuality. Can we get a ruling on this? Like, quickly? Perry’s in danger!

What a looney way to catch a road-runner

Builder Greenarj presents us with a LEGO scene in which we can observe the Eternalii Famishiis in his native habitat. Wile E. Coyote possesses great determination to catch the uncatchable Tastyus Supersonicus, aka Road-runner. Wile E. Coyote also possesses a longtime subscription to Acme products, the latest of which is the rocket here. There’s a high chance this could go south for Coyote, yet he seems unfazed by the possibility. Nonetheless, Greenarj has wisely provided a medical kit–just in case! The build makes good use of rail plates for the rocket’s mobile launcher. The shaping of the rocky outcropping looks like it was taken right out of the old cartoons. And no small feat is the lettering of “ACME” on the open crate full of tools and dynamite. Even now, I can hear the “meep meep” of Road-runner, beckoning Wile E. Coyote onward to–KABOOM!

I am not a cookie, I am a super-genius

When it comes to super-genius inventors with secret labs under their bedrooms plagued by the stupidity of siblings, parents and contemporaries, Dexter’s Laboratory is one of the best. And judging by this comically detailed model, GolPlaysWithLego agrees. I can almost hear his unlikely Russian accent (inspired by creator Genndy Tartakovsky) shouting Dee dee’s name.

There are so many picture-perfect details, like his large glasses, poofs of red hair, pointy shoes, and his side-buttoned lab coat, complete with a splash of green slime. And check out this alternate expression, which uses upside-down tooth parts for angry brows. Dee dee better hope he doesn’t press that shiny red button.

BMO busts a move

From those that joined Finn and Jake for Adventure Time back in the day to those that are just discovering the magic memories of the distant lands of Ooo, the characters will always hold a special place in our hearts. Builder H.Y. Leung perfectly captured the look of the duo’s iconic companion, BMO. This little, imaginative robot blends contemplative, emotional moments with the reckless abandon of a child. This model captures BMO’s character design almost exactly, built at a scale that allows the proper proportions for practically every element.

LEGO Transformers get a “toon-up” with Omega Supreme

Way back in the mid-2000s, Hasbro launched a show and corresponding toy line known as “Transformers: Animated.” The title was no doubt a reference to the fact that Michael Bay was working to bring the Transformers franchise to live-action movies for the first time, and the corresponding Animated show was setting itself up to be everything the Bay franchise wasn’t: hand-drawn, on TV, well written, and over too soon. Hasbro managed to produce the majority of the main Animated cast in toy form so that fans of the series could continue to revisit this era of the franchise long after the show was canceled. But there was one major character that escaped our grasp and was never given a proper figure. Thankfully, Alan Yap has come to our rescue by delivering this LEGO rendition of Animated’s Omega Supreme.

He’s a gigantic fluffy monster with an arrow on his head! Its kinda hard to miss him!

Sokka sure got it right when he pointed out this major flaw in Team Avatar’s main mode of transportation. Despite his lack of stealth, Appa proved to be an essential part of the team, carrying the gang and more all over the bending world. Fans of Nickelodeon’s The Last Airbender surely look back wantingly at the small line of sets that The LEGO Group blessed us with when the show was still airing and plenty of builders have expressed their dreams in brick form. Jay-Roon Bricks has joined in with this wonderful brick-built Appa, Avatar Aang’s loyal sky bison. Katara and Sokka look pretty comfy in that lovely saddle, while Aang looks ready for the next adventure. I’m glad they haven’t lost their supply bag yet either, represented here by the sand blue round plates and tiles behind the saddle.

This version models Appa’s body well and seems to be in scale with Toph and the rest of the gang. His face has some great details and seems very expressive, helping to capture the big guy’s spirit.

This picture from above also shows off the details of Appa’s tail and patterning. The rounded end and tight joints really match the character’s design and probably make this model very poseable.

You’ve got a (LEGO) build in me

“Reach for the sky”, Star Wars helmets; Woody and Buzz can take it from here. Pixar fans will love these fun Toy Story builds from Rokan Cheung. Woody’s hat is a good blend of different shadows of brown, with Studs Not On Top approach. The eyebrows are a good choice, adding some life to the build, and the pink cheeks bring it all together.

Again, Rokan is killing it with the eyebrows. Using a whip for Buzz’s dimple (or beard? sound off in the comments!) is also great. The purple and green really sell this as our intrepid Space Ranger. I’d love to see Rokan continue the line with the rest of the Toy Story crew.
