Collaborations with car makers fuel a series of new LEGO racing sets [News]

Coming next month, a quintet of LEGO sets – most from the world of Formula 1 – will be racing onto store shelves. Stretching over the themes of Speed Champions, Technic, and LEGO Icons, these racers represent cars from the brands of BMW, McLaren Racing, and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team. The biggest of the bunch is 42171 LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance, clocking in at 1,642 pieces. It’s accompanied by a smaller pull-back version of the same car in 42165 LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Pull-Back. The LEGO Icons model has fans of F1 history in mind, as it’s a version of one of the most successful cars ever seen in the sport: the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 as driven by Ayrton Senna. This set, 10330 LEGO Icons McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna, is the only one of the five new cars currently available for preorder on the LEGO website (see links below the fold). And the two Speed Champions sets have offerings of McLaren and BMW pedigrees. All of these new racing sets will be available through LEGO.com starting March 1st, joining the two existing race cars of LEGO City already available.

LEGO teams up with Hasbro to bring Peppa Pig to LEGOLAND parks and Duplo sets [News]

LEGO has been no stranger to brand tie-ins of late, and they have added another popular TV character to their line-up. The Danish company is teaming up with Hasbro Entertainment to produce DUPLO sets featuring Peppa Pig and her friends. Peppa has been a mainstay of children’s TV for 20 years as of 2024, and the collaboration will see sets released in the Duplo line aimed at toddlers and pre-schoolers. Merlin Entertainment, custodian of the LEGOLAND parks, is also being brought into the fold. In LEGO’s hometown of Billund, the LEGOLAND park will get its own Duplo Peppa Pig play area. Meanwhile, LEGOLAND Deustchland in Gunzburg, Germany, will get a new neighbour in the form of a Peppa Pig-dedicated theme park. More details on the sets are slated to come later on this year.

The Brothers Brick LEGO Builder of the Year 2023 [News]

We here at The Brothers Brick have poured through the list of LEGO builders we’ve featured on the site for 2023. With so many excellent creations blogged by us in those 365 days, it’s always tough to find the singular builder who went above and beyond in that time – who not only rose above their peers, but also improved upon their work from past years. And when we specifically looked for someone who seriously stepped up their game in the year 2023, it was clear who fit the bill.

The Brothers Brick is thrilled to announce that Dicken Liu is our TBB LEGO Builder of the Year for 2023.

Classic LEGO set Majisto’s Magical Workshop re-imagined as Gift with Purchase 40601 [News]

Not content with releasing nostalgia-laden sets, LEGO has also been re-visiting some smaller classics as Gifts with Purchase. If you picked up 40567 Forest Hideout, the latest offering is sure to be worth a look as well. 40601 Majisto’s Magical Workshop is an update of the 1993 set of the same name. Composed of 365 pieces, also included are the titular wizard Majisto, alongside a female Dragon Knight. At the time of writing there is no information on how much you’ll need to spend to get your hands on it, or how long it will be available for. That said, LEGO Insiders weekend is coming at the end of this week, so there’s a good chance it will be available then.
