Everyone wants to get LEGO for Christmas, right? Even better if it’s free! (Santa Claus may make it free to you, but even he surely has to pay for it.) Well, LEGO Insiders will have the opportunity to get just that with a sweepstake to win sets on your holiday wishlist. All you have to do is sign up for Insiders if you haven’t already, create your wishlist here, email it to yourself (make sure you use the same email linked to your Insiders account!), and fill out the entry form on the Rewards page. Do note that it’s only applicable in certain territories: the USA, Canada (excluding Quebec), the UK, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and, naturally, Denmark.

Five new LEGO Animal Crossing sets unveiled for March 2024 release [News]

With a range of interactive LEGO Super Mario sets and the iconic 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System, it’s been clear for a while that LEGO’s licensing of Nintendo properties has been expanding. However, it wasn’t as clear what other Nintendo properties LEGO might produce sets for. Fans of the Animal Crossing franchise can rejoice, as LEGO recently unveiled five new sets from the popular series, although you’ll have to wait until March 2024 to pick them up. The sets mimic the pixelated style of the video games, and each one features unique minifigures.

We’ve got all the details about the five new LEGO Animal Crossing sets, so read on to learn more while you wait nearly five months for their release. Although the sets seem to be geared toward younger builders, I’m sure adult collectors will be interested in the parts and minifigs as well.

As the spending season kicks into high gear at the start of October, LEGO has turned out quite the interested “Gift with Purchase” to help keep us entertained. Unlike any other GWP I’ve encountered, 40596 Magic Maze is a gravity-powered ball maze seated on a 24×24 stud square. Read on to get my thoughts on quite a novel concept. 40596 Magic Maze consists of 332 pieces and is available until October 9th from LEGO stores or their website with qualifying purchases of US $150 | CAN $200 | UK £130.

LEGO Dreamzzz 71461 Fantastical Tree House [Review]

Today we try to shake off our summer daydreams to return to the LEGO Dreamzzz theme with a look at the second-largest set released so far, 71461 Fantastical Tree House. This represents the heroes home base in the Dream World – their “dream landing” – and in addition to the alternate build choices core to the Dreamzzz building experience, the treehouse has lots of flexibility in how it’s arranged. Here’s our review of the set, which contains 1,257 pieces, 7+ characters, and is available now for US $109.99 | CAN $139.99 | UK £94.99.

The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

LEGO Icons 10325 Alpine Lodge – On holiday for the holidays [Review]

Here we are at the end of September, about to dive head-first into the holiday blitz that happens at the end of every year. And LEGO has already started to prepare by releasing some of their new Christmas-themed sets for 2023. But of course the one we all hold our breath for is their annual addition to the Winter Village Collection, a tradition since 2009. This year, we’re treated to something with a bit more of a scenic feel: 10325 Alpine Lodge. But will this cozy B&B make for a dream vacation, or will it get absolutely roasted on TripAdvisor? You’ll have to read on to find out! Made of 1,517 pieces, and available on October 4 from LEGO stores and their website, the lodge will retail for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99.

LEGO Star Wars 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser – A gigantic plate sandwich! [Review]

Let’s take a trip back in time. No, we’re not going to head all the way back to 2005 when the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser first made its appearance on screen in Revenge of the Sith, but it’s close. The year is 2007, and I’ve just begun my junior year of college at the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!). I go with some friends to IKEA for dorm room accoutrements, and we stop at the Mall of America on the way back. It’s at that mall’s LEGO store that I, irrational college student that I am at the time, purchase 10143 Death Star II. It was epic! I sat in my room watching Episodes I through VI while I assembled the great ball of bricks, feeling my love of the SW Universe course through my fingers and into this mammoth set I could barely afford. To this day, it’s the only LEGO Star Wars UCS set I’ve ever purchased. I thought back on this time quite a bit as I tackled the construction of the latest offering in the Ultimate Collector Series: 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. Star Wars certainly has come a long way since then, as has LEGO. You’ll have to read on to uncover my nostalgia-laden build of this new model. Constructed of 5,374 pieces, and available from LEGO stores and their website on October 4 (October 1 for Insiders), 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser retails for US $649.99 | CAN $849.99 | UK £559.99.

18+ LEGO Super Mario set 71426 Piranha Plant revealed [News]

LEGO’s Super Mario theme collides with the popular botanical line with the reveal of 71426 Piranha Plant. The venerable enemy from the Mario games adds to an 18+ line-up that already includes Bowser, the Question Mark block, and the console on which Mario made his debut, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The Piranha plant is considerably smaller than these, clocking in at 540 pieces and 23cm (9″) tall. Consequently it’s also considerably cheaper! From November 6th, 71426 Piranha Plant will be available for US $59.99 | CAN $79.99 | UK £57.99.
