You’d probably expect a lot of the posts on a LEGO website like The Brothers Brick to be about LEGO, and you’d be right. If you’re browsing this page, you might want to consider narrowing what you’re looking for by checking out categories like “Space” and “Castle.” We’re sure there’s something here that’ll fascinate and amaze you.

Train challenge examples

Both Peter Norman and I have now done example designs for the previously mentioned train building challenge. Remember it closes at the end of February so if you’re planning to enter you better get cracking.

LEGO Designer/Artist position open at TT Games [News]

Video game studio TT Games contacted us recently to ask if we could help them find someone to fill a cool new position they have on their LEGO design team. Naturally, we thought of all the talented builders who read The Brothers Brick! ;-)

Check out the job description below:

LEGO Designer/Artist

We are looking for an individual to join the LEGO Games – design/modelling team within our company in Cheshire, England.

Candidates must have a passion for all things LEGO and will need an excellent knowledge of existing LEGO sets and bricks in order to design and build unique LEGO models within a given time scale. The indivudal will be required to design models for a range of purposes for various members of the team in our dynamic and exciting working environment.

3D modelling experience in Autodesk Maya will be required however training can be made available. We are primarily looking for an individual who is able to create fun/accurate/working LEGO models for the increasing number of LEGO games we are working on.

Examples of designs from previous games can be found here.

Applicants should send their CV and sample images to cmcnair@t-tales.com.

Here at The Brothers Brick, we’re big fans of the LEGO video games created by TT Games, so further confirmation of an “increasing number of LEGO games” is good news indeed!

Good luck to the applicants, and let us know (if you can) how things go.

Shinto Shrine

Kevin Fedde uploaded a cute, little Shinto shrine today. I really like the overgrown look he has going on here.

Escape the infection

Andrew Colunga shows that the black fantasy virus is capable of infecting an entire planet, and now the last survivors are desperate to escape the doomed planet in the last remaining spacecraft. Oh the horror!

If you’re wondering why there’s been an abundance of horror action on the blog over the weekend, you should check out the conclusion of Keith’s You Control the Action Contest, ending tonight. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to cast your vote for the crowd’s favorite award.

Ambush on Mecha Nature Trail

RoninLUG puts out a diorama depicting the ambush of a squad on their way through Mecha Nature Trail. There’s plenty of insurgents buried in the depths of the greenery waiting to strike the unsuspecting caravan. I tried to find them all, but it was like finding Waldo and all of his friends.

Red planet horror

Prepare for an overdose of red as ChiefLUG takes us to the red planet for some horror action. It turns out we’re not the alone (pardon the cliche), and the last band of marines are losing ground at Olympus Mons, surrounded by nasty alien creatures both big and small. Warning: clicking on the pictures will lead you to oversaturation of red.

Don’t pick the flowers

This is the second time this weekend that we’ve shown flowers leading to deadly consesequences. Look at what Megan Rothrock has created – an overly abundant pink diorama with an insect decapitating a poor space explorer who picked the wrong flower. Lesson learned, don’t pick flowers.

“Bubblegum” biped

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mech with pink highlights and a crotch cannon, but I guess one exists. Check out Alex Fojtik‘s Satyr Class Biped, aka “Bubblegum.” Note the clever usage of the pink fence piece on the missile packs.

Jumper crafts Phobos and Deimos

My latest space creation goes small for SCI-LUG‘s recently ended Small Starfighter contest. Like several of the entrants, I’ve come up with a transforming design that capitalizes on the symmetrical quality of the bubble cockpit to include the third form of an atmospheric flight configuration.

What astonds me the most is the explosive magnitude of the participation in this contest that drew 84 entries. See for yourself in these three pages of well-done creations.

Bunnies and Goats and Bears, Oh My!

There also a Racoon, a squirrel, and a wolf. This scene by SlyOwl is packed with fuzzy critters…

In typical SlyOwl fashion, its also loaded with lots of other fun details too. The roof of that cabin and the grass overhangs on the clifftop are nice touches. But, of course, that is what we’ve come to expect from this talented builder!
