I had the distinct pleasure of seeing John Cleese in person last night at the Moore Theatre in Seattle. As my first post after being away for a couple of weeks, I have the distinct pleasure tonight of blogging this CubeDude Gumby by Iain Heath (Ochre Jelly):

Zumbi + Lichtblau = 1975 Ford Taunus
As Tim and Mike demonstrate, collaborative builds need not be limited to once-a-year conventions or take the form of meters-long dioramas.
Lichtblau sent MisterZumbi pics of a Ford Taunus he’d been working on, and the two worked on the design together over the next couple of weeks. Here’s the result, in ever-awesome lime.
Post Apocalyptic Variety
Daniel GarcĂa (AlterEvo) wants us to know that there’s more to building post apocalyptic creations than zombies and gun-toting survivors. He’s mixed old and new grays to great effect here.
This is also the perfect complement to the shiny vehicular vision of the future I just posted.
Atomic Punk
Atomic Pop is my favorite toy/comic book store in Baltimore, and Atomic Punk is now my favorite hot rod. Nathan Proudlove (Proudlove) did a great job rendering this car in LEGO form.
Ok, so perhaps I’m a sucker for anything with a bubble dome, sue me.
LEGO D-Day on Omaha Beach: Liberating France, one brick at a time
Occasionally, I take a break from blogging and actually build something. For my most ambitious creation to date, I present “Fox Red: Omaha Beach”.
My D-Day diorama features the following vehicles and weapons:
Yes, that’s dark blue water. (I do believe I’ve mentioned before that I like LEGO Agents…)
Naturally, I couldn’t resist the urge to turn a few photos into black and white Robert Capa-esque shots.
See my full photoset of Fox Red: Omaha Beach pics on Flickr.
LEGO Rock Band CubeDude has a green mohawk and regrettable tattoos
Ryan Wood (lights) rocks. Also, he built a CubeDude, which also rocks.
I love the tattoos on his arm, and how he’s holding the whammy bar.
Speaking of LEGO Rock Band, the video game is due out next month, and the full track list has been announced. (I’ve been avoiding dedicating a whole post to this. Sorry for hijacking your CubeDude for news purposes, Ry.)

Makoto Zero – Sky Fighter
This is micro-scale at its absolute best. When I saw a thumbnail of this build by Fredoichi, I thought that it was minifigure scale. I can’t think of a more impressive feat for a creation at this scale than to read as bigger and more detailed than it is.
Red Zephyr
Is the Crimson Skies fad coming back? If the Red Zephyr by Jonhall18 is the start of the comeback, sign me up.
This plane has a great feel of bulk in all the right places. I like the airfoil shape of the wings, and the bubble up at the front of the fuselage adds a great touch of the fantastic.
LEGO Star Wars Slave Leia as a CubeDude – CubeBabe? CubeGirl? She’s CubeLicious!
Beyond the originals by Angus MacLane, my favorite CubeDude so far is this lovely Princess Leia as Jabba’s slave girl by Larry Lars.
I love the fact that Larry’s Leia is less, uh, cubical than most other CubeDudes. Beyond juvenile references to CubeDude anatomy, Larry has incorporated some really interesting techniques, including LEGO coins as earrings. Larry explains:
The coins are squeezed in between the head and the 1×1 round plates connected to the underside of headlight bricks. Since there is an edge on the coins they stay there.
Doctor Who visits BrickCon 2009
Through a fortunate series of events, Alan McMorran was in Seattle last weekend and dropped by BrickCon for a day. When he wasn’t hanging out with the zombie overlords, he was taking a really cool set of pictures featuring his Doctor Who minifig and LEGO TARDIS.
Here, the good Doctor manages to avoid Josh’s motorized dragon in a cave, part of a massive LEGO Castle display with a 2,000-minifig battle.
Check out all of Alan’s Doctor Who adventure photos on Flickr.
(And in case you’ve missed it, I’ve updated my BrickCon 2009 wrap-up post with more links.)
CubeDudes of the Verse
Chris Doyle joins the CubeDude revolution with an awesome batch inspired by characters from Firefly and Serenity.
Don’t miss all of Chris’s CubeDudes on Reasonably Clever, as well as the growing number of adorable little guys in the Flickr group.
Streets of London
For once I don’t have to rack my brain trying to think of a relevant song. Barney Main (SlyOwl) has already done it for me by basing a diorama on Ralph McTell’s song Streets of London. Be sure to click through the pictures in order to match the song lyrics to the diorama.
