The Palace of the Sultan

This magnificent palace of a sultan looks splendid in microscale, a size not often used for the inspiring architecture of the near east. Marcel V. puts those gold ice-cream swirls to great use atop the minarets, and tiny crowns adorn the other towers.

LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Feel Guide [News]

Now that LEGO’s Disney Collectible Minifigures are available in stores around the world, if you’re anything like us you’ll be furiously digging through cases in the store, trying to feel the blind packs to get full set of the 18 figures, or maybe just your favorites. Never fear, we’re here to help, and having already sorted quite a few ourselves we can offer some tips to help ensure you get the figures you want.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney Series

Four each of Genie, Mickey Mouse, Mr. Incredible, Stitch, Syndrome, and the Toy Story Alien.

Watch a miniature LEGO Batcave being built [Video]

LEGO builder AnkTales enjoys creating nifty little scenes and animating the construction process, giving viewers a look at precisely what parts go into his builds. His latest creation is a miniature Batcave to showcase LEGO’s official mini Tumbler model. You could easily build your own Batcave by watching the video.

And if you happen to not own the 30300 LEGO Tumbler set, AnkTale helpfully provides a construction mini Batman Tumbler video to create your own, and the best part is that it doesn’t use any rare pieces.

Star Wars Rogue One trailer recreated scene for scene with LEGO [Video]

Stop-motion animators BrotherhoodWorkshop have spent the last several weeks since the reveal of the new Star Wars Rogue One trailer painstakingly recreating it scene-for-scene with LEGO, and the result is impressive. The quality of the effects and animation they achieved in just a few short weeks is stunning, and the trailer in brick form makes me just as excited for Rogue One as the official trailer. I can’t wait to see the first Death Star’s construction on screen (and presumably a Star Wars movie where the Death Star doesn’t blow up!).

Be sure to check out their VFX Breakdown and Behind the Scenes videos, too!

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney Series [Review]

LEGO’s new Disney series of Collectible Minifigures is probably the most hotly anticipated series yet, and LEGO’s sent us a case to review. They will retail for $3.99 USD like other recent series, but this time there are 18 unique figures to collect, instead of the typical 16. You can purchase them on The LEGO Shop now.

I am the Walrus: The Adventures of Pingu

Pingu the penguin was a staple of Swiss children’s television throughout the ’90s, and builder LegoJalex brings us one of Pingu’s many adventures. Here Pingu encounters a giant walrus in a nightmare. You can watch the clip LegoJalex based this on via Youtube — scary stuff, if you ask me.

How to make your own 14k solid gold LEGO Star Wars Han Solo [Video]

Fans of LEGO come from all walks of life, including jewelers—and what happens when a LEGO fan wants to encase a Han Solo minifigure in carbonite? Well, we haven’t yet figured out how carbonite works, so S.E. Needham jewelers teamed up with youtube channel JerryRigEverything to find out if 14k gold will do instead. Han Solo might actually be worth more than Collectible Minifigures Series 10’s Mr. Gold now.

LEGO Koenigsegg CCX is striking and insanely detailed

The Koenigsegg CCX first debuted in 2006 featuring an insane top speed of 245mph, and would set you back around $700,000 USD. But it’s also been named one of the ten most beautiful cars of all time. The Koenigsegg’s gorgeous curved lines are incredibly difficult to render from rectangular bricks, but builder Gerald Cacas has done a great job here. Perhaps more impressively though, he’s filled it to the brim with detail, and even made the doors, engine lid, and hood functional. The engine compartment looks so real you almost can’t believe it’s LEGO, let alone at such a small scale, and the interior is equally astounding. Check out all the pictures after the jump.

Giant 4 foot tall LEGO model of Nebraska state capitol

I’ve been watching John Tooker slowly construct his replica of the Nebraska state capitol for several years, and the final building is incredibly impressive. The real Nebraska capitol is the tallest of the United States’ 50 state capitol buildings, and John’s model beautifully captures the magnificent art-deco spire which towers over the surrounding plains. Take a look at the tiny people on the steps to get a sense of tower’s vast scale.
