There’s always a pesky ogre, dragon or giant hanging around waiting for intrepid knights to ply their trade. In this magical scene by Paddy Bricksplitter, it’s not going so well for the armor-clad heroes though as they fight to defend a suddenly very short castle against an enormous giant. Even the wizard for extra firepower may not be enough.
LEGO has revealed yet another new Superheroes set, this time featuring several brand new additions to the LEGO Superheroes lineup: Red Hulk, She-hulk, and Red She-Hulk, as well as a new version of the Incredible Hulk. It also includes vehicles for each faction. The set will have 375 pieces, and is due out in January. It will retail for $59.99 USD. Last week LEGO revealed the new lineup of Marvel Mighty Micros sets.
The venerable Y-Wing was a mainstay of the Rebellion, but TBB alum Tromas has decided to give it an upgrade. The new YT-T3 is a sturdier craft with slick plating and a side-mounted R2 unit, and a rear-facing cockpit for a gunner. I also love how Tromas has tweaked the engines, giving them more cowling and some cool fins in the rear. Here’s hoping Episode VII will contain an awesome ship like this!
I remember the first time I ran across Dwemer ruins in Morrowind. It was a mysterious cavern full of strange pipes and hissing steam, and then I heard a noise, and something rolled at me and I died. Needless to say, I came back for more, until I’d vanquished the curious Dwarven artifacts left to guard the riches of the lost Dwemer race. I enjoyed the amazing steampunk relics again in Skyrim years later, and LEGO builder Bartłomiej H brings that experience to the brick with these fantastic Dwemer ruins. They truly evoke the feel of the disheveled passageways and abandoned rooms filled with metal machines and odd artifacts. He even includes an intrepid adventurer (like you!) to fight through the devious Dwarven devices.

Here’s a mech by legorobo:waka that looks half industrial, half military spec. The left hand reminds me just enough of the loader from Alien, and I love the open cockpit, a rarity in big mechs like this. The chunky stance gives a perfect feel of heavy drop-forged steel armor.
LEGO builder takamichi irie has designed these awesome life-sized props of Poe Dameron’s flight gear from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A hollow, wearable helmet is a tricky shape to create from LEGO, but takamichi makes it look easy. These will go great with the life-sized LEGO lightsabers and Rebel blasters others builders have made. Now all we need is a life-sized LEGO X-Wing—oh wait, that exists!
Plus, takamichi’s even built an adorable little not-quite-life-sized BB-8 to go along with them.
LEGO has announced the next wave of DC Superheroes Mighty Micros sets, slated for a release next January. This new wave of chibi-sized superheroes and villains and their vehicles will feature Batman vs. Killer Moth, Wonder Woman vs. Doomsday, and Superman vs. Bizarro. The sets will be on display at San Diego Comic Con in July, and when they finally hit store shelves they’ll retail for $9.99 USD each, just like the first wave of Mighty Micros we reviewed.

Robert Turner is a multi-talented builder, having brought us fantastic architectural pieces like the Villa Amanzi and awesome sculptures like a life-sized Tesla charging station. But now Robert’s turned his hand to great depths of space and the challenges awaiting mankind there, with the immense spaceship IHS Gravtec Odyssey. You won’t find a hyperdrive here, but instead an interpretation of a near-future spaceship designed around a gravity-generation ring, replete with large spherical fuel tanks and omni-directional thrusters. Best of all, Robert’s model lights up, letting the ship spread the warm glow of humanity to the cold reaches of space.

Builder ER0L brings us this remarkably realistic version of the famous Sikorsky/Westland Sea King helicopter, used by the United States Coast Guard in rescue operations. Beyond simply making the model look accurate though, ERoL has fully motorized it using LEGO Power Functions.
November brings a new major entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, will add a whole lot more magic to the expansive superhero world. Thanks to Amazon Japan, we’ve now got our first look at the LEGO version of Doctor Strange in 76060 Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

1989’s 6276 Eldorado Fortress was one of the pinnacles of the late 80s Pirate theme, with the blue-clad Imperial Guards protecting a small Spanish-inspired dock. Taking his queue from set designer Daniel August Krentz‘s nostalgic old beauty, David Hensel pays homage to the classic with this magnificent redux.
This reminds me a bit of when I tried my own hand some years ago at reinterpreting another nostalgic classic Pirates set, 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up (sadly, I’ve yet to try again despite the fun in it).
Tim Schwalfenberg expands his Homeworld Vaygr fleet with this classy Vaygr missile frigate. It’s the second ship of Tim’s Vaygr fleet we’ve featured, after his excellent corvette, and Tim has more on the way to round out the armada. One of the best hallmarks of Homeworld-inspired spaceships is the clean color blocking, and Tim’s interpretation of the Vaygr fleet looks striking clad in white with red stripes. One of the best details is the missile launcher mounted on the side, a fantastic brick recreation of the original model’s detail.
