Hey there, yes, you… reading this article on The Brothers Brick or Facebook, or Twitter or– it doesn’t really matter… You probably know me, and how good looking I am, but just in case you don’t, my name is Wade Wilson and my not-so-favourite food that I eat only on alternate Wednesday mornings for breakfast is chimichangas. I wear red because the bad guys dig it. I do have to thank BrickinNick for loving me so much he had me immortalised in a bust of none other than me in my favourite pose when I’m quite hungry or surprised. Pick one, toss a coin, doesn’t matter. Either way, always remember, with great powers comes great superheroes made of LEGO bricks.

Build a tiny minifigure scooter for your LEGO city scene [Instructions]

One of my favourite parts that were introduced back in 2014 was the red scooter that resembled a classic Vespa. This tiny brick scooter by Nieun reminds me so very much of it. This 23-element build looks like something you could whip up with ease from a decent sized brick collection to add to your city scene. It’s really well-designed for such a small scale yet has a great number of details put into it.

The dragon that still roams our earth today

The largest species of lizard that still roams the earth today is the Komodo dragon. This monster LEGO version, built by Dennis Qiu, is made from about 5500 bricks and sports a very lifelike menacing pose. It might surprise some to know that recently researchers have discovered that Komodo dragons can reproduce without mating ensuring a single isolated female can have male offspring and ensure the species continues. Dennis has used a lot of curved slopes and wedges to achieve this shapely, pose-able LEGO version of the Komodo.

A brave minifigure has volunteered to stand next to this beast to give a sense of its huge scale.

Shogun from the 16th century

This build of a seemingly cute warrior by John Cheng is so much more than it seems. Imagawa Yoshimoto was a feudal lord during the 16th century in Japan who was very good at not only battling but also at diplomacy and securing key alliances during his reign. His black steed and the accompanying base is quite a unique complement to the usual BrickHeadz builds that we’ve seen quite a lot of lately. Aside from being brick built, Pokémon Conquest fans may recognize him as a playable character.

Marvel Super Heroes Black Panther sets now available for pre-order [News]

The first two sets to be released for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Black Panther are available for pre-order at both Amazon and Walmart. Rhino Face-Off by the Mine (76099) is is priced at $19.99 and the Royal Talon Fighter Attach (76100) is priced at $29.99. Both sets are due to be released on the first week of January 2018.

LEGO’s 60th Anniversary set revealed, featuring mini-models of classic sets [News]

Celebrating the upcoming 60th anniversary of LEGO in 2018, Billund has released a unique throwback set representing four iconic themes. The set will have 421 pieces (40290) with a value of $25, and will be a gift-with-purchase offer to customers who purchase a minimum of $125 in LEGO stores or the LEGO Shop Online between January 28 and February 14.

These fully articulated LEGO Star Wars figures are ready to conquer the galaxy

With the next installment of the Star Wars franchise nearing once again, we’re starting to see the amazing community of builders turning their incredible skills to a galaxy far, far away. These larger doll-sized builds by Herbert Lee from Hong Kong are a prime example. With a multitude of articulation points to give life-like poses from any iconic scene from the movies, these figures stand about 8-10″ tall and are a considerable step up from the LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz figures.

Herbert has built eight characters from across all three trilogies. Let’s take a look at each one of them in their best poses.

New York City: The concrete jungle where dreams are made, or broken...

A true labour of love is one that takes years to bear results. After half a decade of constantly building and updating using LEGO pieces accumulated from garage sales, Larry Wilkinson has brought to life an iconic and picturesque skyline of New York City. A few key buildings stand out, including the Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building, and The Chrysler Building — all instantly recognisable.

As a visitor who’s been to New York for less than a handful of times, this brings back memories of the faraway place that will always hold amazing and one of a kind experiences around a diverse culture of music, film, theatre, art – a melting pot city that makes it one of the greatest cities in the world, one that never sleeps.

What do you get when you cross an X-Wing, a Y-Wing, and an A-Wing?

This Onith-Wing Starfighter by Ted Andes is so sweet that I think it should be woven into a Star Wars movie. It’s seriously that good — it has all the right elements that make it believable, with both the contours and the lovely muted grey, dark red, and white theme. It reminds me of a cross between a Y-wing with the modified engines of X-Wings with some A-Wings thrown in for good looks. The build is almost without any visible studs to give it smooth and clean lines.

While it seems that this beauty would not pack sufficient firepower to bring anything down, the underbelly sports a couple more hidden cannons.

Tron Legacy Light Cycle is the next LEGO Ideas set to go to production! [News]

Tron Legacy Light Cycle in Minifigure scale designed by BrickBros UK is the next LEGO Ideas project to become an official set next year! The announcement was made on the LEGO Ideas Facebook official feed.

The idea was selected from 11 other projects over the period of January and May 2017. A special mention was also made for Surf Rescue, and the folks at LEGO will be working on the special message to share the story behind the set designed by Damien and Aiden MacRae.

Suzuki Junya will be the designer that will be working on bringing this futuristic bike from concept to the production model that’s set to be released in 2018. Word from the excited designer is to stay tuned for the final design and launch date.

Iconic Luke & Vader scene from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back recreated perfectly in LEGO

One of the most iconic scenes from The Empire Strikes Back takes place in Cloud City, where Darth Vader reveals Luke’s parentage. Due to the sheer scale of the film’s setpiece, this memorable scene hasn’t appeared in many brick-built creations, but Caleb Watson and Carlyle Livingston have managed to pull off an incredible huge-scale build that’s appropriately and simply titled “Noooo!”

This impressive size of the central duct of Cloud City stands out, recreated perfectly though with a detailed backlit background. Although the patterned backdrop may look simple, the careful placement needed to get the textures just right isn’t easy.

The Kraken is loose! Oh ship, we’re in trouble now!

I have a particular fear of what I cannot see, especially in the vast and open murky waters of the deep ocean. Who knows what monsters lurk below? Jason Mario builds an unconventional steampunked Kraken in the middle of a rough open sea. The ripple and foam effects give the scene more life and grandeur of disastrous event about to take place.
