Sean Jensen follows his terrific Steampunk X-Wing fighter with a brilliant take on that ubiquitous Imperial workhorse, the TIE Fighter. Giving Star Wars vehicles and characters a Steampunk makeover is nothing new, but Sean has nailed the precarious, ramshackle, and gilded style quite well. The chains governing the wings are quite a nice touch.
Let’s be honest here, on any given day there is nearly an endless supply of military models posted on fan sites. As a result I am sure that many brilliant creations are overlooked while quickly browsing through the mass. But every now and again you are pleasantly surprised with little gems like Andrew Somer’s Sandcat LUV.
Andrew says that he is kind of ‘iffy’ on the camo scheme. I couldn’t disagree more. This really has to be one of the most polished patterns I have seen in some time. Paint job aside, the thing that really stands out to me is the amount of fun details that Andrew integrated (something he always seems to do so well).
So moral of the story folks: Next time you see yet another LEGO tank…click that thumbnail, it just might put a smile on your face :)
Thirdwigg, inspired by using his F1 wheels, created this spunky little 3 wheeled, remote controlled Power Function Roadster. He packs the battery pack, receiver, and self centering steering into a compact frame. Notably, he mounted the XL Power Function Motor in the hub of the drive wheel. Check out the video.
If you are familiar with legoalbert then you know that you can expect lots of colours and interesting shapes from his creations. He certainly makes that apparent with his latest model, The Trinity.
By utilizing an asymmetric colour scheme, subtle but effective stickering, and a creative shape, he makes a very interesting little spacecraft. He describes it as a shuttle for a cyberpunk thug, and I think that is a perfect description. Also gotta appreciate working landing gear at this scale :D
It’s been a while since we’ve blogged one of Ralph Savelsberg’s (Mad physicist) LEGO planes but the wait has definitely been worth it. With his F-105D Thunderchief he’s combined three difficult colours (old dark grey, dark tan and dark green) to pull off a realistic camouflage pattern. And the quality certainly doesn’t stop at the camo.
Calin (_Tiler) demonstrates that size is not required to make a sweet ride. The teensy beauty is based on misterzumbi’s ‘rod drawing.
Camouflage is so ’10s. In the ’40s all urban assault vehicles will be colour coded. Just like Cole Blaq‘s BG Cyanid Unit. And who are you to argue with the future?
A wing, a prayer, and psionic energy are the only things keeping this glider by Jack McKeen (madLEGOman) aloft. Jack built this for a competition on FBTB, to be an aircraft themed to accompany the X-Men character Psylocke. I don’t know much about Psylocke, aside from seeing illustrations, but apparently she has psionic abilities. In keeping with her powers, the wings of the plane are attached by translucent beams of thought. They’re simply lovely to look at.
Paul (Sariel), one of the greatest Technic builders, seems to achieve the impossible by building a remote-controlled Lego truck capable of hauling a load of almost 20 pounds. Don’t believe it? Take a look at the video below.
It’s big, shiny, and powered. Mark Markiewicz‘s 1:17 scale Kenworth W900 Dump Truck is a sight to behold. As he mentions on MOCpages, the goal for this creation was a fully IR controlled dump truck. I think he succeeded.

Calin‘s Bat Rod is a nifty creation, but the presentation really makes it stand out. In addition to the appropriate brown vintage background, the lighting texture on the model (especially the roof) is gorgeous.
