LEGO 71741 Ninjago City Gardens set is listed on LEGO Shop [News]

The upcoming exclusive LEGO set 71741 Ninjago City Gardens is now listed on the UK regional page of the LEGO Shop. The set will be available starting January 14 for members of LEGO’s free VIP loyalty program, and for everyone on February 1. The product will retail for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99.

It’s been less than a week since we took a first look at Ninjago City Gardens, and over the weekend the Bricks World LEGO Certified Store in Singapore published more official product images. Last week we got our first look at 71741 Ninjago City Gardens, but today LEGO is taking the wraps off the set with a few more images via certified reseller Bricks World LEGO Certified Store in Singapore. Ninjago City Gardens will be the third in the Ninjago City series and includes 18 minifigures. The set will be available starting Jan. 14 for members of LEGO’s free VIP loyalty program, and for everyone on Feb. 1. Once available, it will retail for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99.

LEGO collaborates with Hype to release streetwear inspired by the Ninjago theme [News]

LEGO and Hype will be launching a lineup of streetwear apparel inspired by LEGO Ninjago on January 14th LEGO.com and JUSThype.com the following day. The collection will feature Ninjago themed tees, shirts, shorts, hoodies, jo­­­ggers, jackets and bags.

LEGO 71741 Ninjago City Gardens revealed as biggest-ever Ninjago set with 5,685 pieces [News]

LEGO’s latest retail catalog is giving us a look at the new LEGO Ninjago 71741 Ninjago City Gardens. 2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Ninjago theme, and LEGO is celebrating by releasing the theme’s biggest ever set. The 5,685-piece set is the third in the Ninjago City series spawned by The LEGO Ninjago Movie, and brings gardens, a shrine, arcade, Ice Planet Ice Cream Shop, a Ninja Control Tower, and more to the modular city, along with a plethora of minifigures. The set will be available starting Jan. 14 for members of LEGO’s free VIP loyalty program, and for everyone on Feb. 1. Once available, it will retail for US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99.

LEGO Ninjago Legacy 71742 Overlord Dragon [Review]

Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday that Ninjago was the new theme on the block. Somehow, though, we’ve reached it’s tenth anniversary! The Legacy sub-theme is LEGO’s way of bringing back older sets with updated builds and features, but Ninjago Legacy 71742 Overlord Dragon is a little different. This is the first time that the Overlord Dragon has appeared in a LEGO set, making this return to Ninjago Season 2 extra special. Ninjago is celebrating it’s 10th year, and LEGO has released several new offerings in the Legacy theme updating favorite sets from the past. The LEGO Ninjago theme has been around for ten years. Hard to believe, right? In that time, there have been a ton of cool and interesting sets, and LEGO has been bringing back some of the best in their Ninjago Legacy theme. We had the chance to take a look at one of the January 2021 0fferings, Ninjago Legacy 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle.  This set is available now from the LEGO Shop Online for US $59.99 | CAN $79.99 | UK £54.99.  The 840 parts span four exclusive minifigures and the Titian Mech. But is it a “battle” that can interest more than die-hard fans? Read on and see!

LEGO Ninjago Legacy 71735 Tournament of Elements [Review]

Can you believe that Ninjago has been around for ten years? That’s a lot of Spinjitzu under the bridge. It’s enough to make one feel just a bit nostalgic.  Happily, the Ninjago Legacy theme lets fans revisit sets and events from previous seasons. LEGO Ninjago Legacy 71735 Tournament of Elements returns to season four with seven minifigures and an updated combat arena. This 283  piece set will be available starting January 1st for US $29.99 | CAN $39.99 | UK £27.99.  Is there enough here to be of interest the wider LEGO audience? Read on and judge for yourself!

An Orc-tastic Fishing Hideout

Sometimes, pillaging the land of righteousness just seems like too much work. So do what LEGO builder John Snyder does: put your feet up, cast in your line and relax.

There are a ton of little details that really make the build come alive. From the mossy vines growing all over the swamp to the different shades of brown used to look like wood rot, it’s all here. I especially like the use of pirate hook hands to hang the fish up. The roof tile work is equally exquisite.

My only gripe about this build is that I’m begging for more. It’s so good that I want to see the same thing spread out over dozens of baseplates. Congratulations on a job well done, John!

With 100 magazine foil bags, the sky is the limit

Most builders love a good challenge, but everyone loves free LEGO. Such was my reaction when my LEGO user group, Brickish, selected me to represent them in a build challenge. In this friendly competition amongst UK and Ireland-based LUGs, the task was to build anything using the parts provided in 100 LEGO Star Wars magazine foil packs. These were provided by Fairy Bricks charity, and contained 10 each of 10 small sets. I (Mansur “Waffles” Soeleman) challenged myself to take these small Star Wars models and… not build anything Star Wars related. There weren’t much of the usual grey bits anyway. So I had my next favourite thing in mind: microscale architecture.

The Voyage to Cirrus Palace

I had no plan going into this build challenge. But the parts provided were surprisingly good – lots of small bits that I use in my building style. I knew I was going to surprised myself with the finished results, and I did, for such is the nature of any challenge. It definitely produced a beautiful build I am most proud of: The Voyage to Cirrus Palace.

August has arrived and that means new LEGO sets! LEGO has launched 108 new sets and items available today. In addition to new sets like the Nintendo NES and Super Mario lineup, Ideas Grand Piano, Star Wars 501st Battle Pack and LEGO Art, fans in the US and Canada can finally celebrate the summer arrival of Harry Potter, Creator 3-in-1, City, and Ninjago waves that you’ve waited so patiently for. Nearly every LEGO theme has some new sets–it can be a lot to process!– so we have your complete guide right here detailing each and every new set and item. [EDIT: It appears that LEGO may have delayed the US & Canada release of some of these sets until September. We’ve asked for clarification.]
