LEGO Carl Fredricksen, from Pixar’s “Up”

Angus MacLane has created an incredibly accurate LEGO version of one of the main characters from Pixar’s latest feature film, “Up“. From the bulbous nose and jutting jaw, to his green-footed cane and bowtie, this is perfect! Of course, what else do we expect from Angus?

BrickJournal also has instructions for a LEGO BURN-E that Angus designed for the crew of the movie. Those of you paying attention to the credits during BURN-E will have noticed that Angus directed this wonderful short feature.

This is not the future my mother warned me about – Terminator Salvation minifigs

It’s been a very long time since going to see a movie inspired me to build a bunch of minifigs as soon as I got home. I saw Terminator Salvation on Saturday night, and had to build the heroes and their antagonists.

The human Resistance wouldn’t be the same without a couple of T-600 Terminators to fight.

LEGO Terminator mecha by Nickre

Though I won’t see it until tomorrow night myself, the new Terminator: Salvation movie looks full of cool mecha, hoverships, and post-apocalyptic landscapes sure to serve as inspiration among LEGO builders.

Nick (Nickre) uses his own imagination, though, to come up with this cool mecha from the Terminator universe:

Smug red-shirted LEGO Star Trek minifig won’t survive the away mission

legomocs combines LEGO elements in a fairly simple way to achieve perfect brick-built phasers and a tricorder. Combined with the red and yellow torsos, these minifigs are instantly recognizable.

Jamie said it best: “Normally they look too plain, but it’s amazing how nice black pants and a few accessories can make blank torsos look.”

That may be what defines space for Leonard McCoy, but I suspect Spock and Uhura — built here by Ochre Jelly — find more pleasure in the Final Frontier…

Only one man would dare give me the raspberry...

LONESTAR. Or is that Zack (Newright)? He’s built a fun rendition of the Eagle V space Winnebago from Space Balls. While it’s not the first rendition I’ve seen of this craft, and probably won’t be the last, it’s the best I’ve seen in awhile. Unlike some other renditions I’ve seen, it looks small enough to be swooshable as well.

28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds

That’s all we’ve got left, at least according to Frank. Until then, enjoy this duo of miniland characters from Donnie Darko. They are brought to us by the incomparable Lino.

Johnny Tang’s LEGO Hellboy has abs of plastic

Johnny Tang (johnnytang) is at it again with amazing sculptures. His latest is Hellboy:

At this scale, Johnny can pack in lots of important details (like the two studs on Hellboy’s pecs), but it takes some serious skill to get it all to fit together so well. Check out the full LEGO Hellboy gallery on Brickshelf.

Laputa ornithopter flaps to Sheeta’s rescue

The first LEGO creation that Jon Hall has posted to Flickr is a LEGO version of the ornithopter, or “flaptter”, from the Miyazaki film Laputa: Castle in the Sky:

I love the shape, and the use of the clear canopies as wings is excellent.

Blade Runner Pod-Racer

Over on Flickr, Larry Lars has posted an entry in FBTB’s pod racer contest that I love. It’s a mash-up of a pod-racer and a spinner from Blade Runner.

He’s done a fantastic job with it, capturing all the little details from the original. I think that might even be Edward James Olmos in the driver’s seat. It’s too bad she won’t live!
