Thriving LEGO plants and no water needed

LEGO builder Loïc Gilbert has created “Solarium,” where the plants take center stage in this creation. Hues of pink, purple, yellow, and bright green tell of a healthy greenhouse. Adding to the unique features of all this foliage, we see swords, hats, and even a hairpiece put to good use. Another highlight is the floor, which features a patterned carpet crafted from LEGO “cheese slopes”, adding further intricacy to the overall design. These plants would fit perfectly alongside LEGO Icons Botanical Collection 10329 Tiny Plants for sure!

LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole debuts on the LEGO website [News]

There are few sports cars as iconic as the Lamborghini Countach. And after getting a taste of this design in LEGO form with Speed Champions 76908 Lamborghini Countach back in 2022, we now have a proper ode to the vehicle with LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole. With the line first debuting in 1974, this specific version of the Countach from 1985, the 5000 QV, features a redesign of the engine with 4 valves per cylinder (where “quattrovalvole” comes from). And while the LEGO model may not have that much detail, it does feature those iconic scissor doors, and access to the engine in the rear and the “frunk.” Clocking in at 1,506 pieces, LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole will be available from the LEGO website on July 1st for Insiders and July 4th for everyone else. The set will retail for US $179.99 | CAN $239.99 | UK £159.99.

LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna: Grand Prix race-winner, or backmarker? [Review]

If you want an easy way of being remembered as a sporting entity, a good way of doing that is by becoming unbeatable. Think Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’, or the Miami Dolphins circa 1972. In Formula One, no team has won every race in a season, but two have come close. So it’s fitting that, a few months after Red Bull became the second F1 team to win every race bar one in a season, the first car to achieve this feat hits the shelves in the form of LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna. Retailing for US $79.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £69.99, this set will be available from March 1st. The MP4/4 was a mighty racecar, but does this set live up to its legendary status? LEGO Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square: The GOAT? No, the goat! [Review]

Today we get to dig in to a highly anticipated tribute to/reimagining of/reviving of the beloved 10193 Medieval Market Village. Let’s get our wattle and daub and find out!

10332 LEGO Icons Medieval Town Square unveiled with over 3,000 pieces, 8 minifigs, and a goat [News]

LEGO has made a bit of a habit of re-imagining Castle sets of yesteryear into new ones using the modern part palette. With 3,304 pieces, this set is a revamp of a much-loved Castle set from 15 years ago, 10193 Medieval Market Village. Among other things, this new addition to the Castle lineup includes a tavern, carpenter’s shop, guard tower, eight minifigures, and a goat in a brand new color. 10332 Icons Medieval Town Square will be available from March 1st for US $229.99 | CAN $299.99 | UK £199.99.

Collaborations with car makers fuel a series of new LEGO racing sets [News]

Coming next month, a quintet of LEGO sets – most from the world of Formula 1 – will be racing onto store shelves. Stretching over the themes of Speed Champions, Technic, and LEGO Icons, these racers represent cars from the brands of BMW, McLaren Racing, and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team. The biggest of the bunch is 42171 LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance, clocking in at 1,642 pieces. It’s accompanied by a smaller pull-back version of the same car in 42165 LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Pull-Back. The LEGO Icons model has fans of F1 history in mind, as it’s a version of one of the most successful cars ever seen in the sport: the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 as driven by Ayrton Senna. This set, 10330 LEGO Icons McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna, is the only one of the five new cars currently available for preorder on the LEGO website (see links below the fold). And the two Speed Champions sets have offerings of McLaren and BMW pedigrees. All of these new racing sets will be available through LEGO.com starting March 1st, joining the two existing race cars of LEGO City already available.

LEGO Icons 40681 Retro Food Truck Gift with Purchase: Bold bonus flavor? [Review]

Over the past decade or so of modular buildings, there has frequently been a gift with purchase available early in the year to accompany it, sometimes with a thematic link. The Detective’s Office launch was accompanied by the 40140 Flower Cart bonus polybag that included a hidden barrel of cookies to tie into that modular’s cookie-smuggling story. More recently LEGO 40586 Icons Moving Truck, which includes furniture to be delivered to LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club, came out a few months after that modular. This year, LEGO 10326 Natural History Museum broke tradition by coming out a month early, and now for the turn of the year, LEGO Icons 40681 Retro Food Truck contains 310 pieces and 2 minifigures and will be available with some purchases in the new year at LEGO.com and your local LEGO retail store. An obvious note: it’s really hard to give a thumbs up or down on a gift-with-purchase without knowing what you’ll need to spend to get it. So we’re taking a look at the build and will update the review with our recommendation once the threshold is announced.
