Bebop a lula this spaceship is in perfect harmony

You may not be familiar with the 1998 animated television series Cowboy Bebop but that will not stop you admiring this spaceship built by Haeum Daddy. Cowboy Bebop was set in the year 2071, and follows the lives of a crew of bounty hunting cowboys travelling on their spaceship Bebop. This LEGO version of protagonist Spike Spiegel’s racing craft the Swordfish II is like an Ultimate Collector Series edition with all the greebled details and a stand. The smooth aerodynamic lines of the wings and the front of the ship are maintained with the use of curved slops and wedges …this ship is fast and swooshable.

The power all comes from the incredibly detailed engine and exhaust portion of the ship; definitely worth a closer look. So many great dark grey LEGO parts have been packed into this area that the bulbous shape of the animated ship is emulated despite being formed from lots of smaller pieces.

Do not tap the glass

Considering the depths of the oceans, there are practically countless species of fish to inspire new LEGO creations, such as this particularly dangerous-looking Needlemouth by Serbian builder Djordje. No doubt this is one fishy fellow you wouldn’t want to antagonize!

April Fools’ Day build makes a real splash

We should have posted this remarkable brick-built fish by Daniel Stoeffler on April first, but we didn’t sea it until now. Better late than never right? I’m stunned by the life-like nature of this little guy. The exposed LEGO studs make excellent scales and the overall striped patterns and color blocking on the fish’s body and fins are gorgeous. He even has a soft underbelly and whiskers!

But what’s the joke you ask? Well, as Daniel explains it, on April first in France, children play pranks on others by placing paper fish on their backs and then running away shouting “Poisson d’Avril!” I don’t get it either, but it sounds hilarious.

Spike Spiegel’s Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop

Vehicles and vessels from anime shows continue to be a popular subject with LEGO builders. Christopher Hoffmann joins the fray with this small but well-executed Swordfish II fighter from Cowboy Bebop. Much of Christoph’s microscale Swordfish is built from Technic parts, though it certainly doesn’t look like it, does it?

If you like this microscale version, I think you’ll also enjoy Adrian Florea’s minifig-scale Cowboy Bebop Swordfish.

Moko takes a break from magnificent mecha and the result is making me extremely hungry. If you want me, you can find me at Inaka Sushi on Eastern Ave. in Vegas, the sake is on me.

Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop by Adrian Florea

It seems that everything Adrian Florea builds makes the rounds on the ‘net, and I’m sure his latest will be no different — a lovely spaceship from Cowboy Bebop called Swordfish II:

My ignorance of post-1989 anime is staggering, so I had to look up a couple reference pics, but Adrian’s rendition of this ship is perfect.
