Carl Fredricksen charmed his way into our hearts as the lovable yet grumpy old man in Pixar’s Up. Kosbrick masterfully captures his character in this rendition, and uses some terrific forced perspective to set the South American plateau scene.

League of Legends is populated by multitudes of fascinating and unusual characters, both in real life and in the game. One of the game’s more steampunky characters to be found in the game is Blitzcrank, the Great Steam Golem, and Eric Tsai’s LEGO version looks positively smashing and ready to crash your lane.
A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin takes his rightful place in the Red Keep atop the infamous Iron Throne, from whence he will cast judgment and pronounce life or death upon the world’s inhabitants (mostly death). This magnificent entourage of LEGO characters by Callum brings many of your favorite characters to brick form, from Eddard Stark and Jon Snow, to Jaime and Tyrion, and Daenerys and Khal Drogo.

As a fan of horror movies, I know that a good monster has to have character. It’s why even if they’re scary, you can’t look away. The Harvestman, by the always intriguing Djordje, has character in spades.
The shapes of this LEGO creation are amazing and a great use of the new pieces released with the new buildable Star Wars figures, but the biggest draw here is the face — the shape, the fact that it only has one creepy yellow eye with just 3 fangs. It looks like it belongs in a Tim Burton stop motion film, and it was built with LEGO. In fact, I would love to see a stop motion horror film starring Djordje’s builds.
With fellow animated show Adventure Time becoming a retail set soon, it seems a shame that the famous Dragon Ball series will probably never see an official set (perhaps thanks to a few scenes involving a blue-haired character and her underwear).
Regardless, the beauty of being a LEGO fan is being able to make what the company won’t, and today Logey Bear did that with the Saiyan prince Vegeta.
While this is a remix of the builder’s previous model, the addition of the warm gold armour pieces to make up the well-known Saiyan armour, as well as a brick-built head (distinct “M” pattern hairline included) and there’s no mistaking who this is.
Isn’t this stern-looking fellow by Wookieewarrior extraordinary? I’m not sure what it is that makes him seem so formidable. Perhaps it’s his shapely and spiky battle armor or his lace-up, butt-kicking boots. Maybe it’s the way he so casually holds his axe or his relaxed posture while sitting on his Erebor-esque throne. Most likely though, it’s his impressively bushy, yet perfectly manicured beard and his downward-tilted eyebrows that makes me want to avoid his gaze.

Mike Dung has built an excellent naval office scene to showcase some of his delightful chibi-style sailor figures. The cute faces on the figures grab the attention, but check out that picture, and the tablecloth draped over the desk. Great stuff.
The characters are taken from the Kantai Collection videogame, popular in Japan, which has players controlling fleets of hybrid battleship/sailor girls. I haven’t played the game myself, but that doesn’t stop me appreciating the wonderful level of cheeky character Mike has captured in his figures…
Although Batman is best known for tangling with cats, solving riddles, and punching clowns–that’s really just his “special” workdays. Most nights he’s terrifying more common everyday criminals and ensuring they have long painful hospital stays. Builder Roman (th_squirrel) depicts a normal day at the bat-office, showing the moment where everything goes wrong for two unlucky criminals. One expresses understandable fear, the other displays a foolish “we can take him” confidence. A dramatic one-sided fight is about to begin.
Ever since the 70314 Beast Master’s Chaos Chariot was unveiled I’ve been looking for a clever way to use the two unique, domed printed pieces which form the heads of the two large Globlins pulling Mr.Master’s chariot. James zhan beat me to it with a double build — turning the two monsters into punk rock beats complete with an instrument, microphone, and mohawk hairdos.
For those of you about to build (we salute you).
Many will recognise this wise, well-educated character as Archimedes from the Disney film The Sword in the Stone. Tyler Clites has depicted his colouring perfectly from those yellow eyes to the tuft of white feathers beneath his beak. As a character known to be a little grumpy and sarcastic, Tyler has captured Archimedes’ cynical expression perfectly with those expressive eyebrows.
But don’t make the mistake of thinking he is a stuffed owl, I guarantee that those wings can flap. Fans of The Sword in the Stone will also enjoy a previous LEGO build we featured here on TBB, Kay’s Squire from the same movie.
Dave Kaleta has been using LEGO to illustrate moments in his life, in a series of autobiographical builds. The latest addition is Winter, Harper Avenue:
The scale is somewhat deceiving; it took me a moment to realize just how large these actually are. The sculpting and the amount of life and story present in each one of these is just wonderful.
I’m not sure what is delayice‘s secret, but ordinary bricks and slopes in his hands assume some extreme degree of cuteness. And even that creepy girl from the horror classic The Ring is crawling just to give you a hug and cuddle with you. Amazingly enough, the structure of the model is so simple and clear that anyone can repeat it by examining the picture. Thus, it’s another beautiful example of how great combinations of just a handful of pieces can be the best illustration of a builder’s talent.
