L’Entité d’Atlantis
Underwater LEGO dioramas present some unique challenges. For example, how do you illustrate the complex ecosystem present in the water column? Captain Spaulding does this by suspending a variety of lifeforms above the seafloor, but that’s hardly the most notable thing about this creation, built for a contest on the French Brick Pirate forum.
The enormous statue dominates the scene with his heart of gold, while a microscale Atlantean temple creates some forced perspective behind a lovely cuttlefish.

There are so many things I want to say about this, but mostly, I’m just in awe. This four-section creation by Rook just has so much gorgeous detail.
I’ll start with the obvious: the four parts interlock to create either a tower or fortress, and changes the dynamics for each mode. Then there’s the bone-tree, the “giant” chess set, and the detailing on the towers.
I can’t pick a favorite detail on this. Just take a look and see for yourself!

Bricks Helping Japan – Charity LEGO Auctions Update 2
We’re back with more custom LEGO auctions to help Japan! Those of you who were watching may have noticed that all of our auctions ended yesterday, without anything new being added. That’s because it turns out that eBay puts a limit of $5000 per month on new selling accounts, and we broke that number! I spent some time on the phone with eBay, and got them to raise our limit, so laissez les bon temps rouler! Here some of the new auctions:

Lego Starcraft 2 Marine
By now it’s clear that the Terran units from Starcraft 2 are easiest to make out of LEGO. Sven Junga adds the marine to list of the community’s brick-built Terran units including the Battlecruiser, Thor, Viking, Banshee, Medivac, Siege Tank and more.
It’s a good thing I can counter marines with my banelings!
Everybody’s surfin’ now
This simple composition featuring some not-so-simple creations by Jack Marquez (Ewok in Disguise) captures the feel of a Beach Boys song: Corvette convertible, custom Harley-Davidson and a surfboard.
Check out all the pedals and valves on that Harley and the red rubber bands for racing stripes.
Beautiful, beautiful cheese floors
I’m consistently wowed by the geometric designs that Katie Walker fiddles with and frequently shares. It’s extra rewarding when she incorporates the results of her experiments into beautiful architecture like this grand staircase and mosaic floor.
Motorized Siege Tank from Starcraft 2 goes into siege mode
Mark (petzoldhaus) from Youtube built a motorized Siege Tank from Starcraft 2. Not only does it run by remote control, it also converts into siege mode for punishing your opponent’s clumped up ground forces and buildings. You can see the internal workings in this video.

Massive 20-module Great Ball Contraption goes on forever
I generally don’t have the patience to watch Great Ball Contraption (GBC) videos, but I couldn’t tear myself away from this amazing 8-minute engineering marvel by Japanese builder akiyuki.
Nannan suggested I post this because I could read up on some of the design descriptions akiyuki writes about on his blog, but really, this thing speaks for itself and therefore I have nothing meaningful to add…
