LEGOLAND Florida and Southern Ford Dealers have partnered to create a truly unique anniversary gift: the Brick Pony is a bright blue 1964-1/2 V8 Coupe Mustang, and she is just lovely.
This life-size LEGO build was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Mustang Club of America, and was unveiled at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This LEGO punk rocker by LegoJalex looks like he can really shred. In addition to the spectacularly clean lines and colorful composition of this build, there are some really great details including a whammy bar and what I can only assume is a wallet chain. I also adore that little green mouse.
Best of all, this LEGO musician is a bobblehead! Check out the video below to see him in action.
Following on from the success of The LEGO Movie, Warner Bros have announced both The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago movie. Yesterday, USA Today released a clip of an animated short from the latter, entitled “The Master battles a chicken”.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie is due in theaters September 22, 2017, and features a stellar cast including Jackie Chan as Master Wu. The short will play before Storks, due to open in theaters September 23, 2016.

This pair of Anime-inspired flyers by halfbeak were originally created for a contest over in the Flickr speeder bike group. Their design is fiendishly simple yet refreshingly unconventional, and is made possible by clever use of some older LEGO parts including Alpha Team canopies, Exoforce figures, and a variety of repurposed and recut LEGO stickers.
I like the forward-leaning posture of the riders – it conveys a sense that these speeders were built solely for racing, to compared to the more relaxed seating position of a typical LEGO speeder bike.
This will not be the last impressive LEGO ship we see this month. This beautiful behemoth from BobDeQuatre is much larger than it appears, being over 100 studs long.
The sculpting and colors on this are just lovely. I particularly like the use of the hot air balloon pieces near the bottom, as part of what looks to be a gun of some sort. The central flower reminds me of an ever watching eye, which is both awesome and creepy.
I invite you to spend some time pouring over the details, because Hh’alamand’ia is packed with them!
I love a good sea battle. This LEGO scene built by E J featuring two excellent sailing ships — the British HMS Enterprise and the American privateer Oliver Cromwell — I can almost feel the whipping wind, smell the salt spray, and hear the creak and strain of wood, the bellowed orders, and the thunder of the broadside.
Both ships are fully rigged with custom sails and rigging, and worth a closer look.

If you somehow haven’t heard of Overwatch, it’s a multiplayer first-person shooter video game released in May of this year by Blizzard Entertainment. More importantly for LEGO fans, a host of brilliant depictions of the characters from the game has swiftly followed its release. Simon Lui takes the building-baton and has recreated 20-year-old monk and wanderer Zenyatta, in his typical meditative pose.
I particularly love his torso area made from taps, and the waistband of his orange pants made from mechanical arms. Those shoulders look fab but perhaps not the most robust, so it’s just as well that Zenyatta can attain a transcendent state of immunity to damage!
Macaws are stunning birds, and smart to boot. I’ve heard plenty of great stories from those who get the chance to interact with them regularly. Felix Jaensch has posted this beautiful sculpture that captures the bird perfectly.
The curve of the beak is spot on, and the face sculpting is excellent.
One of my favorite LEGO Architecture sets of the last few years have been the city skyline series, including 21028 New York City. LEGO architect Spencer_R specializes in 1/650 scale models of landmarks, including numerous skyscrapers. Spencer says he’d already built several of the buildings in the set, so he built the Flatiron building and Statue of Liberty, and then put all of them on a large black base. This much larger scale enables Spencer to include much more detail than the minuscule buildings in the official set, and the higher-resolution photo on Flickr — as well as Spencer’s photostream as a whole — is well worth a closer look.
This summer, British publisher DK have continued their Build Your Own Adventure series with two new volumes that explore the themes of City and Star Wars. LEGO City: Build Your Own Adventure is an 80-page hard cover book that comes with an exclusive 99 piece LEGO vehicle set and minifgure.
The book’s storyline follows a rather hectic day in the life of LEGO City’s heroic firefighter Brave Ed as he journeys through typical locations within LEGO City, on a mission to get to the end of his shift with enough time to challenge his fellow fire-fighters to a game of table tennis (oh, and to spend the day helping out with rescues, accident scenes and fighting fires of course!).
Remember when Citizen Brick created a set based off of Breaking Bad and there was a row on the internet? While that drama may long be past, the inspiration to build LEGO renditions of the show still exists. And, because this is LEGO, there just had to be a mashup with space down the line. Finally making it a reality is MadLEGOman with the build titled “Spacing Bad”.
Not only is this a sizeable creation with a detailed interior and complete LEGO drug lab, but it also seems to be created using only official LEGO bricks with original prints.
Oh, and please notice the pair of pants hanging on the mirror. The design of this ship really reminds me of the Eagle 5 from Spaceballs. Then again, it’s the only other flying camper van I know of.
For some reason, LEGO builders like to make very large spaceships in September. Many of them spend the entire month working on their models, only releasing photos at the last possible moment. But Shannon Ocean is starting the season off with a bang.
Not only is this ship over 100 studs long, it has a well-blocked color scheme and some great stickers. What really stands out, though, is the uniquely innovative warp drive at the tail end. It looks sorta like the front of an old 50’s-style raygun, but is also vaguely evocative of something late modern, like Star Trek. And, oh my stars, that studs-down base! I hope the rest of the month is this exciting.
