LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru 40511 Kung Fu Training [Review]

LEGO sets usually accompany new movies right before they hit the theaters, but the Minions theme has been the exception, in part due to the pandemic disrupting the film’s normal theater release, having been pushed back all the way to July of 2022. In the meantime, we’ve been getting various LEGO sets since early 2020, and now yet another will be making their way to store shelves. Today we are able to get a first look at 40511: Kung Fu Training (54 pieces). The price is not yet confirmed, but we expect it to retail for US $12.99 | CAN $16.99 | UK £11.99 when it’s available starting July 1.

Even though Minions 2: The Rise of Gru won’t be arriving on the silver screen until Summer 2022,  you can still enjoy all of the dastardly villain fun with LEGO Minions sets. Several have already been released, such as 75546 Minions in Gru’s Lab, 75547 Minion Pilot in Training, and 75550 Minions Kung Fu Battle. This new accessory set adds to the chaos with a young Gru minifigure, the new Belle Bottoms minifigure, and two Minions.

LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar [Review]

We first learned about the collaboration between LEGO and Adidas last September when the teaser appeared on social media. Recalling some of the previous LEGO Wear products, the fans rightfully expected nothing more than several pairs of LEGO-themed running shoes in Adidas stores. Although the actual Adidas ZX 8000 sneakers were an instant hit, hardly could we see what the collaboration may bring in the future. As it turns out, LEGO designers saw a unique opportunity to take the partnership to the next level, building an Adidas Superstar sneaker with LEGO bricks. This way comes 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, a 731-piece model of the most iconic Adidas shoe. The set will be available from July 1 for US $79.99 | CAN $109.99 | UK £79.99. And it’s so much more than just a building set: to understand better what actually this product is, we talked to Florian Müller, Senior Designer, who took the idea from the concept to the actual model in the box.

The second episode of LEGO Masters Season 2 has aired. I can tell you from personal experience that elimination days were always the hardest and this one was no exception.

We sat down for a talk with the first team to leave this season along with our friends from Brickset, BZPower and True North Bricks. We chatted about superpowers, creativity, explosions and the importance of family.

Read on, but beware… Spoilers lie ahead!

LEGO Monkie Kid 80028 The Bone Demon [Review]

The latest wave of Monkie Kid sets from LEGO includes three sets of various sizes, which for the most part, are similar to previous sets that include wacky overpowered vehicles and an array of villains and their bumbling minions. But this newest villain LEGO 80028 The Bone Demon is certainly one of the biggest, most uncanny creations so far. The set comes with several smaller structures and critters, from spiders to a scorpion that combines together in a nightmare Voltron-inspired monstrosity. And as if that wasn’t cool enough, there are several glow-in-the-dark elements that appear in this set for the first time that add a wow factor to an already impressive set. 80028 The Bone Demon includes 1,373 pieces and will be available on July 1 for US $119.99 | CAN $159.99 | UK £89.99.

Judging by today’s teaser published by LEGO all across its social feeds, the new co-branded set is dropping on July 1.
