LEGO announces a pair of holiday botanicals coming to the Icons line, now available for pre-order [News]

The holidays seem to come earlier every year. And with LEGO announcing new Christmas sets before the end of August, it’s certainly feeling that way once again. But these aren’t the typical holiday-themed offerings from the brickmaker of note. These two new LEGO Icons sets are a part of the Botanical Collection. First up we have LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia, with 608 pieces and tons of sharp angles. And there’s also LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath – a more “adult” take than the past offering of set LEGO 40426. The verdant yuletide toroid is made up of 1,194 pieces, and features interchangeable accents in red, white, or blue. Both sets are available for preorder starting today, with global release on October 1. LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath retails for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99, and LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia is going for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99. The LEGO Group announces double-digit growth for the first half of 2024 [News]

Continuing to outpace the rest of the toy industry, The LEGO Group announced earlier today during it’s earnings report for H1 2024 that it’s achieved a 13% growth in revenue compared to TLG’s H1 of 2023. On top of that, the company has also seen growth in customer sales of 14%, driven by the Europe and the Americas regions. With this additional cash coming in, spending on new offices and factories has also upticked slightly. Amid this growth, the LEGO Group’s continued push for sustainably sourcing plastic for their bricks remains a driving force at the company. Over the last 6 months, about 22% of material used in their toys came from renewable and recycled materials, improving upon the 12% used in H1 of 2023. Other items of note include TLG’s participation in the first International Day of Play and the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars.

LEGO reveals LEGO Harry Potter 76437 The Burrow – Collector’s Edition, the next adult-targeting set in the Harry Potter series [News]

Although it likely falls foul of a few OSHA or health & safety regulations, it can’t be denied that the Burrow – home of the Weasleys in the Harry Potter books and movies – leaves a lasting impression with its ramshackle vibe. Having been in a handful of playsets, LEGO is now seeing fit to release an upgraded version of this rickety residence. 76437 The Burrow – Collector’s Edition will hit shelves just in time for Back to Hogwarts day, i.e. this September 1st, for US $259.99 | CAN $339.99 | UK £219.99. That price nets you the 2,405 pieces required to build the Burrow, but between its release and September 10 it will also qualify LEGO Insiders for some additional gifts with purchase (GWPs). Chief among these is 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network, which includes a Lucius Malfoy figure and is available if you spend US $130 | CAN $TBD | UK £120 or more.

LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 – Part 2: ‘Bout time for some ocarina! [Review]

Yesterday, Part 1 of our TBB review of LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 covered the Breath of the Wild version of this arboreal guardian. But now we need to run through a couple measures of the notes A, D, and F to play the Song of Time on our ocarina and roll the review back to the beginning again. And while it’s not releasing within that theme, there’s certainly much excitement for the first LEGO entry into this Nintendo property. Since its premiere in 1993, Tim Burton’s Disney animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas, directed by Henry Selick (who went on to direct other stop-motion classics such as James and the Giant Peach and Coraline), has been a favorite holiday tradition for families and children-at-heart worldwide. LEGO fans have been eager for an official set and had their appetites whetted somewhat by the release of collectible minifigures for Jack and Sally as part of the second Disney CMF series. The LEGO Ideas platform has had several projects inspired by the film submitted over the years but they have never been approved to become official sets… until now. LEGO Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas comes with 2,193 pieces and will be available starting on September 3rd for LEGO insiders and September 6th for everyone else for US $199.99 | CAN $TBD | UK £189.99.

LEGO Ideas, in collaboration with Disney and supported by fans through the online platform, is finally set to present LEGO Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. This iconic film has become a holiday tradition for countless families since its release in 1993, and a much-requested LEGO set is finally ready to hit store shelves. Although this isn’t the first time we have seen Jack Skellington and Sally in minifigure form, we now get the setting of Halloween Town and 6 more of the beloved characters from this frightful Christmas classic. The 2,193-piece set will be available for US $199.99 | CAN $259.99 | UK £189.99 starting September 6th. LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures 71047 [Review]

When I first started playing Dungeons & Dragons, my group used LEGO minifigures to represent our characters, as many other tabletop gaming parties have done. After all, minifigures are about the right size and highly customizable. So it delights me tremendously that LEGO has finally picked up the D&D license, kicking off with the Ideas set 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale earlier this year. Rather than the Ideas set being a one-off IP tie-in though, LEGO is following up with a Collectible Minifigures series, providing a cast of 12 new characters to round out your adventuring options. Officially revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last month, 71047 LEGO Minifigures – Dungeons & Dragons will be available starting Sept. 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $5.99 | UK £3.49.
