Royal Griffin from Witcher 3 is back for revenge in LEGO form

There are many, many monsters in the extremely popular game Witcher 3 — but perhaps no monster sticks in your mind quite like your first monster, the majestic and dangerous Royal Griffin. Builder Charis Stella managed to pull himself free from Witcher’s grasp long enough to design this gorgeous griffin — one that utilizes swords, tails, teeth, and tiles to give this beast both character and a sense of motion. It wouldn’t be too bad a way to go if this beautiful flying Royal Griffin were the one to do you in.

Still though, pretty bad way to go.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Baltan!

Not surprisingly, the moment you mention a hero like Ultraman, a giant space monster shows up to destroy your nice little cardboard city–it’s just the natural order of things. Filling in said order is the latest creation by nobu_tary: the deadly Alien Baltan. With the powers of flight, laser beam claws, furry looking legs, and presumably the ability to gain more abilities as dictated by the plot, Baltan is sure to give Ultraman a run for his money. At least until the third act requires his loss after an oh-so-close victory.

Villainy with style

To be a memorable villain, you must have an undeniable sense of style. Jonas Obermaier knows this well, and has built a slick Art Deco roadster for a spooky 20s fiend. With curves, chrome, and a crow hood ornament, this devilish car would no doubt strike terror into anyone it stalks from a paranoid-inducing distance.

Indominus rex vs. polar bear: Fight of the century

A unique feature of last year’s hit film Jurassic World was the inclusion of a white-skinned hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus rex. This allowed LEGO to create an equally impressive minifig-chomping beast, and lucky for us, this in turn allowed Jme Wheeler to pit said monster against the other most dangerous predator in the LEGO world (assuming you’re a cute little penguin): the polar bear. Let the games begin!

Oh, there’s also the Indominus’ owner camping out in the cave. Exploring is not easy, but it sure is entertaining.

One small step, one cute spacewalk

Continuing his quest to find the absolute limit of use for the Belville shoe, Grantmasters has stepped it up a notch by creating the most adorable spaceman imaginable–one that manages to use fewer bricks than a pair of hands has fingers. Speaking of which, the spaceman’s arms and legs are actually made from a pair of minifigure hands!

The Brothers Brick wishes you the best of luck on your space-adventure tiny one… You’re going to need it considering the size of your steps!

Ultraman Lives

The truest test of popularity is whether or not someone can recognize your costume after 50 years. That’s no doubt the case with this famous monster-bashing Japanese television icon, Ultraman. Built by Jan Lego, this ultra-pose-able figure is actually based on the more recent manga series design, but he nonetheless kicks just as much monster-butt with more style to boot.

Packed with detail, Jan’s Ultraman is a prime example of a well built brick figure utilizing form and shaping to its fullest advantage. If you want to see dozens more views of this beauty, head over to Jan’s Ultraman album–you won’t be disappointed, although overconfident kaiju may be.

18,000+ piece LEGO Fortress of Solitude shames all other vacation homes

Sometimes one just needs to fly away from all the hustle and bustle of a city constantly in danger — and sometimes an artist decides to step out of their comfort zone for the challenge, and in the process, produce amazing results. That was the intent behind JanetVanD‘s latest build: the famous “Fortress of Solitude” from the 1978 film Superman. In stark contrast to Janet’s previous creation, the equally gorgeous Her Majesty’s Theater, with its detailed interior, this build focuses largely on the natural icy exterior while the famous crystal-pyramid structure that makes up the fortress itself gleams in the background–but nonetheless commands absolute attention.

Superman’s vacation home took Janet 160 hours to complete and required 18,684 pieces in total. All of which were put to good use creating a realistic landscape that really sells the necessary ‘solitude’ requirement. No doubt only a person with the fortitude of Superman would choose such as place as this to have some uninterrupted downtime.

Exploring the mangrove swamp

Trees are an understandably common sight among LEGO builds, but rarely does one come across a style that is truly unique and breathtaking. No doubt however, that is exactly the experience shared by these lucky explorers in this latest creation by Jonas Wide. Using a large number of tail and tusk pieces, Jonas has grown an incredibly flowing and characteristic forest of mangrove trees that seems as alive as the birds and crabs that live in it.

Hello ladies, it’s me, Deadpool

Now I know you’re thinking: “What? Is it Sunday already?” Not exactly. This year, Valentine’s Day came a bit early just for you. The gift? Me, Deadpool. Up on the big screen for the first time today, and this screen for the second time. It’s a lot of me to handle, I understand. But if you’re not up for my movie, we could just stay here and lie down by the fire …I’ve got chimichangas in the kitchen. Interested?

The most dangerous hunt: Cretaceous trophies

When building a LEGO collection, one often accumulates many special pieces – unique trinkets destined for greatness, or the closest special parts bin. What you may not know however is that these pieces are special to your minifigures too – special enough to hang in some short of ghoulish trophy room to be stared at with smokey-depressed-retirement eyes:

TBB mainstay Paddy Bricksplitter knows this, as does ‘Old Johnny’; together they created one viciously intriguing trophy room overflowing with story potential. And oh what a story it was! Clearly this time, it was the T-Rex who should have run!

Blacktron strikes back

Having been around for almost two decades and being one of the most popular LEGO themes means there’s no shortage of walkers stumbling around…Star Wars ones that is. Blacktron however, which debuted 29 years ago, is just stomping in now–and the wait was well worth it:

The BT-HIW, Blacktron Heavy Invasion Walker, is a glorious black and transparent-yellow sight to behold. Built by Rat Dude, this impressive walker manages to balance not only itself, but that classic space feel many builders strive for.

Winter is Here

Only a few months remain until the epic return of Game of Thrones, and the torturous wait for season six has been a killer on everyone (certain characters especially). But while the premiere is almost here, don’t forget to notice that winter is already upon us. Take for instance this bust built by Omar + Kamitera Ovalle, which depicts a chilling White Walker:

While those in Westeros tend to ignore them, this is one build you don’t want to miss. The husband and wife team have also constructed many other Game of Thrones builds over the past two years, all of which can be viewed on their stunning Flickr album.
