Chris Malloy (porschecm2) has been a LEGO fan nearly all his life, having started with System bricks at age 3. He is the co-author of Ultimate LEGO Star Wars, and his creations have been featured in several books and The LEGO Movie. He also helped develop the first LEGO Minecraft set, 21102 Minecraft Micro World: The Forest, which has gone on to inspire a whole theme of sets. He's been active in the online community since 2002, and regularly attends LEGO fan conventions such as BrickCon and BrickCan. The Bricks Awaken with these life-size LEGO Star Wars figures made from 83,364 pieces [News]

If minifigs just aren’t big enough for you, LEGO has created three life-size sculptures celebrating Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Poe stands 67.3 inches tall, weighs 112 pounds, and took builders 195 hours to place all 22,736 bricks. Finn also weighs 112 pounds, but took builders 205 hours to place all 23,072 bricks in his 68.9 inch stature. And true to the movie, Captain Phasma is huge at 81.5 inches tall, and weighs 185 pounds. She took builders 275 hours and 37,556 bricks to construct.

A brick-built home: incredible LEGO modern kitchen

Tim Schwalfenberg is trying to fool us with this kitchen photograph, which appears to be a gorgeous modern kitchen in an upscale home decor magazine. Look closely, though, and you’ll notice that it is completely LEGO. There are lots of great details here, but I like the train wheels for barstool cushions, and the tiled backsplash, which just looks perfectly realistic.

Even in LEGO, Mr. Bean travels in comfort

Brothers Brick contributor Elspeth De Montes puts the new Series 15 Collectible Minifigures mop to great use in this iconic scene from the quintessential British comedy show, Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean can’t fit all his new purchases into his adorable green Mini, so he jury-rigs a device to drive his car from the supple luxury of his rooftop recliner.

LEGO Speed Champions 75871 Ford Mustang GT [Review]

LEGO has an all-new wave of Speed Champions planned for 2016, bringing some American muscle to a party that has so far been dominated by European supercars like Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren. European cars are still in the mix for this year, but first off the starting line for the Americans is a 2016 Ford Mustang GT, a killer car in blue with a classic white stripe.

LEGO Announces 75828 Ghostbusters 3 Ecto-1&2 set [News]

Following hot on the heels of the release of the Ghostbuster’s Firehouse, this morning LEGO announced a tie-in set for the upcoming Ghostbusters 3 movie. The set will feature a revised version of the Ghostbusters famous ride, called the Ecto-1&2. It will also feature the five new Ghostbusters as well as an imp. LEGO says it will be available this summer, and is slated to retail for $59.99 USD, though no word on the part count yet. Be sure to also read our review of the original LEGO Ghostbuster’s Ecto-1 so you can spot the differences in the new model.

Who’s a cute little guinea pig ?

Who knew that hard plastic bricks could look so cute and cuddly? This pair of guinea pigs snuffling a strawberry by Chris Maddison is possibly the most adorable LEGO creation I’ve seen in quite some time.

I can’t help it. Here’s another picture. He even has pink toes!

LEGO Technic 42056 Porsche & other Technic sets revealed at Nuremburg toy show [News]

Thanks to flickr user Jim van Gulik, we now have photos of several of LEGO’s newest big Technic sets (see the others after the jump). We can’t confirm the precise set name yet, but it’s set number 42056, and is a Porsche 911 wrapped in zebra test patterns (used by auto manufacturers to disguise the outlines of an unreleased vehicle). Some sources say that the test pattern will not be included in the final model, though. You can bet that this will be an expensive set, clocking in well over $100 USD.(Update: You can now read our review of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.)

The Temple of Heaven, resplendent in perfection

Alex Hui brings us this gorgeous replica of the Temple of Heaven, a 15th-century structure in Beijing which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alex has masterfully recreated the intricate ornamentation on the Daoist temple’s walls, helped by the massive scale he employs. Although it doesn’t look it, the base of this model is around four feet in diameter, and the temple is almost as tall. Below is a picture of Alex posing with his creation.

The jolly olive giant war machine

Moko is back with another stunning mech. This time death comes wearing olive green armor and looking totally killer. Moko has made this mech highly poseable, and amazingly, all of the armor plates can be removed from the skeletal framework. It even has room for a minifig. You can see more pictures on Moko’s blog.

Brush up on your building skills with this LEGO toothbrush

Time to clean those pearly whites! And if you’re a diehard LEGO fan, you just might be willing to try this toothbrush and toothpaste from nobu_tary. The Unikitty tail works so well as a toothpaste swish it seems made for it.

Bringing Imperial order to the wretched hive of scum and villainy

Nikolai Mordan has built this awesome diorama of an Imperial base on Tatooine. It makes a fantastic backdrop for displaying LEGO’s UCS Imperial Shuttle, which looms ominously over the squads of stormtroopers and Imperial officers bringing the Imperial arm of order to the backwater oasis of Mos Eisley. I hope they find those droids they’re looking for.

Nikolai built this as part of a collaboration displayed at Wintercon, a Latvian geek convention.

60115 4×4 Off Roader [Review]

We’re taking a break from reviewing all those Star Wars sets to catch a look at something a little closer to home: a good old fashioned racing truck. 60115 4×4 Off Roader hit stores in December, and is currently available for $19.99. It has 176 pieces.
