Stunning LEGO Porsche 962 Le Mans car

Large-scale LEGO car builders never cease to amaze with their dedication to realism. Greg_998 specializes in Porsche racecars, and his Le Mans Porsche 962 is breathtaking. Not simply a plastic shell, the well-sculpted bodywork hides a host of details below, such as a fully detailed engine compartment and a fittingly spartan interior.

Not content with just the 1980s’ 962, Greg has built a several generations of Porsche racing.

Khugrock Ironhand: A bright-eyed and bushy-bearded dwarf

Some LEGO pieces seem destined for a particular use, though often it takes a keen eye and a clever mind to discover that perfect use. One such piece is the Bionicle Crystal Armor piece, which has found its perfect application as a dwarven beard on this fantastic character by DjordjeThat piece will now always look like a golden beard to me.

Harry Potter in vignettes: tiny scenes from the wonderful world of wizarding

Builder Marcel V. is on a mission to picture Harry Potter’s life one little slice at a time. These terrific vignettes take us from 4 Privet Drive, to Platform 9 and 3/4, Ollivander’s, and right on to Hogwarts’ Sorting Hat and the Gryffindor Common Room. Marcel tells us he’s planning a rather lengthy series, so we’ll check back in as he continues to create these brick snapshots. For now, though, check out the first five scenes in Harry’s life:

LEGO Superheroes Mighty Micros: 76063 The Flash vs. Captain Cold and 76065 Captain America vs. Red Skull [Review]

The March wave of LEGO sets brings us lots of new sets, including the new Elves Dragons and Speed Champions we’ve already reviewed. But it has a more cartoonish face too, by the name of Mighty Micros. This new line brings to LEGO Superheroes (of both Marvel and DC persuasion) the chibi-fied look that’s now familiar to LEGO Star Wars fans through the popular Star Wars Microfighters line. Today I’m taking a look at two of these new Superheroes sets, provided to us courtesy of LEGO. Both 76063 Mighty Micros: The Flash vs. Captain Cold and 76065 Mighty Micros: Captain America vs. Red Skull retails for $9.99 USD.

The cutest LEGO Star Wars base you ever will see

Boba-1980 wanted a way to show off his LEGO Star Wars Microfighter X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and TIE Interceptor, so he built this scene of a Rebel base under attack. The whole model has a great chibi vibe, perfectly blending minifigs and microscale just like the official microfighter sets.

LEGO Speed Champions 75874 Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race [Review]

If the 2016 Ford Mustang that I reviewed introduces American muscle to LEGO’s Speed Champions party, then 75874 Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race turns the music up and gets things rolling. It features a 1969 Camaro facing off against its 2016 counterpart for a drag race. The set has 445 pieces including three minifigs, and will be available in March for $29.99 USD. Thanks to LEGO for sending us this copy for an early review.

A heavy mech for when the job absolutely, positively must get done

This ultra-heavy mech from Benjamin Cheh Ming Hann is just bristling with armor and weaponry. A minifig is concealed deep within the beast, and my favorite detail are the two miniature arms protruding below the body to allow the mech to handle more human-sized objects.

Look at me still talking when there’s science to be done

Some say LEGO is art, but others say it’s a science. This brick-built microscope from Josiah N. lends credence to the latter supposition. So start doing some LEGO science!

Science is Fun!

Wondering what a LEGO microscope could possibly show you? Well, Josiah’s got us covered there too, with a view through his microscope of a human cell. It’s incredible seeing the mitochondria in such detail.

The big LEGO book of Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Markus Rollbühler opens up a new page on LEGO building by presenting Grimm’s Fairy Tales in book form. We’ve seen literature depicted in LEGO through an artistic representation of a book before, but I here I particularly love Markus’ use of the pages forming gnarled tree silhouettes to add depth to the scenes. Markus says that there are references to six of the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales depicted here: see if you can spot them all.

Deadpool, the most romantic gentleman in town

Hey girl, you turn my software into har—[We can’t say that. This blog doesn’t post that kind of stuff. -Ed].

Nothing says “I love you” like some violence, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Deadpool (and Chris McVeigh). Roses and blood are both red, right? Perfect.
