LEGO digs up a huge new set with LEGO Jurassic World 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex [News]

The LEGO Dinosaur Fossils series grows by one more set today with the debut of LEGO Jurassic World 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, a massive 3,145-piece addition to the line. Previously only containing LEGO Jurassic World 76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T-Rex Skull and LEGO Jurassic World 76969 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull, 76968 marks the first time in the series where an entire dinosaur skeleton is on display. However, echoing the design of the other two entries, the bones come with a display stand that includes some added bonus beyond the fossil. And this time, that means we get minifigures of Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant from the original Jurassic Park movie. If you’re looking to start your own museum with this 41 inch-long set (105 cm in metric), LEGO Jurassic World 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex will hit store shelves on March 15th (with early access for Insiders on the 12th) and retail for US $249.99 | CAN $329.99 | UK £219.99

[Building Techniques] How to vilify a scientist through texture

When working in LEGO, texture is everything! Case in point, check out this evil scientist by Mattia Careddu. Through the clever placement of cherries covering their head, Dr. Voltainsminz comes off as a slimy, alien-like villain bent on world domination!

The a-peel-ing nature of Fortnite microscale

Last year, I was absolutely enamored with LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone, to such a degree that it was one of my favorite sets of 2024. So, of course I’ve gone ga-ga for this excellent microscale recreation by builder Water Snap! There’s so many great parts putting in work here, whether in the exposed skeleton half, the Peely Pick, or but I especially adore the use of the LEGO banana part for Peely’s peeled skin along the side of his head.

A Supra-duper LEGO creation

While I may not be a huge fan of sports cars, I definitely know a quality LEGO model when I see one. So when I spied this glorious Toyota Supra by Mihail Rakovskiy, I knew I needed to share it! Clad in yellow, it’s an excellent representation of the fourth generation of this automotive marvel, the A80.

This LEGO version of the Tietgen Residence Hall will have you doing circles

Let’s travel to the Ørestad district of Copenhagen, Denmark, 135 miles (217 km) to the east of LEGO HQ. There you can find the Tietgenkollegiet, a building designed as an ideal student residence. Its boxy rooms are arranged in a toroid, with greenspace in the center. LEGO Masters Denmark finalist Esben Kolind gives this architectural wonder the LEGO treatment in his latest model, and boy does he succeed! The cubic nature of the rooms translates well into brick, while more clever techniques are employed to curve the building through all 360 degrees.

LEGO Tietgenkollegiet

While Esben has many more shots on his Flickr page worth checking out, I did want to also feature the top-down view. It really displays the spectacular geometry he’s able to pull off in this creation.

This LEGO bald eagle is a soaring success!

It wasn’t too long ago that we showed you all a work-in-progress shot of a delightful LEGO bald eagle head, made by the talent that is Sakiya Watanabe. Well, now it’s time to see the work in all it’s proper glory! And as impressive as the design of that head is, I’m slack jawed taking in the entire scene. I love the use of clear elements to simulate a splash of water as the fish (with scales made from pirate ship sails) attempts to plunge back in. But the eagle definitely seems keen on catching dinner, with its plumage made of reddish brown palm leaves and it’s aforementioned head stuck in a glare of determination. This is definitely a creation I hope to see in person soon!
