Got milk truck?

Skim, whole, vitamin D, almond, soy: milk is pretty much everywhere. Ever wondered how it gets there? Well, like everything else in this world, it travels by truck. Normally the trucks are full of jugs, bottles or cartons. But sometimes a tanker of milk is the most efficient means of transport.

Although this LEGO tanker truck by MacSergey doesn’t have any clever custom logos on the side, its color is a dead giveaway to the contents. As is the name, Молоковоз, which is Russian for “milk truck.”

There are sweet details and clever construction techniques all over this model, but the best are definitely on the back. An access panel hides the milk-pumping controls, and there’s a nifty ladder for accessing the top of the rig. Check out the gallery for more photos.

Caterham Seven: LEGO City edition

The new LEGO Ideas 21037 Caterham Seven set was announced last week to much fanfare in the UK, but clearly has got fans all over the world excited too, as evidenced by this minifig scale version by Taiwanese builder RGB900.

Ask for help from an adult if you need to use sharp cutting tools

Nobu_tary‘s photo stream is a bizarre repository, storing a steampunk gun, a chunky knight, (my personal favourite) a delicious yummy slice of pizza and many more brilliant extraordinary ideas — extraordinary to the point when you stop guessing a certain LEGO piece or the way it is attached to other pieces, but start admiring the way the builder sees the world around them.

These nippers are the cutting edge of LEGO building. Useless tail pieces from Ben 10 finally get a second chance as plier handles, completed with some smart use of a couple of Technic connectors and small claws. And I can’t wait what all those gray pieces will be once they are painted and glued together…

Imagination is the essence of discovery

The hit video game Overwatch continues to generate a steady stream of great LEGO builds from fans of the game, and this large version of the peanut-butter-loving tank hero Winston by Paul Lee is one of my favorites so far.

LEGO Indiana Jones does the temple run

You must remember that famous scene in Indiana Jones: The Raiders of The Lost Ark when Indy is chased by a giant boulder and has to run through the temple as the boulder rolls closer and closer? Well back in 2008, LEGO released 7623 Temple Escape with the rolling boulder as a play feature. Australian builder Forgotten Days has taken that set and expanded it – adding style, accuracy and details along the way – resulting in a much better scene.

The surface terrain is nicely built up with gaps to highlight the underground activities taking place. Using an Indiana Jones minifigure at the start standing with the idol, and another at end of the run, is a nice touch. I love that Indy at the end is in the seated position just like in the movie!

Animated LEGO orchestra plays Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony

It’s not often we get to present LEGO animation! If you’re looking for a peaceful way to spend some time this afternoon, I invite you to watch Jim Wright‘s animated Ninth Symphony, composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Fresh cracked crab is what’s for dinner

I love seafood, and crab in particular. Here in the Pacific Northwest, one of the best ways to have it is to get fresh dungeness crab and crack it yourself, so this typhoon shelter crab dish by LEGO 7, made with a fresh whole crab, feels right at home and makes me very hungry. The builder even includes some tools of the trade, useful for scavenging every last bit of tasty meat from the shell.

Waiting for fall in the Avalonian countryside

Fall is right around the corner, and in some places, has completely arrived and settled in. I’d wager that’s the case for this beautiful micro LEGO countryside diorama from Full Plate, with the beautiful fall foliage and the crops ready for harvest.

There’s quite a bit of detail here; the cottages are adorable and simple, and highly effective. the trees are bursting with color and you can clearly identify the different kinds. The dock into the pond is a nice touch.

Top brass

Japanese builder -Grie- built this pair of LEGO musical instruments that are not only life-sized but also seem accurate down to the last curve, key, and even spit valve! I’m not sure what sounds can be made by these facsimiles, but they’re probably better than anything I could produce using the real versions.

Lincoln Logs, Connect 4, Speak and Spell, and other classic toys from your 80s childhood made in LEGO

I remember playing with some of these as a kid. We’ve featured jtheel‘s work before with their fantastic Simon Says; I think it’s high-time to kick the nostalgia factor up a bit and relive the best toys from the 80s. Or 70s. Maybe a bit of early 90s. At any rate, let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

Shallow Water Assault Patrol Enforce

The SWAPE (Shallow Water Assault Patrol Enforce) is a special class of boat designed for military operations in very shallow waters. While primarily operated by the US Navy and Marine Corps, it is also utilized by police departments, most notably in Florida where it is used to patrol the Everglades in search of poachers. Joshua Brooks has created this LEGO version of the Navy’s SWAPE 267, aka “Yellow Jacket”, on anti-drug patrol off the coast of the Philippines.

LEGO Soldier 76 loadout has you in his sights

ZaziNombies built perhaps my favorite replica from him yet in terms of screen accuracy with his LEGO Soldier: 76’s Heavy Pulse Rifle prop from Overwatch. The V-shape of the muzzle area and the blue barrel paneling are especially outstanding when compared to source material. The build is rounded out with nice touches like a removable top-loaded ammo cartridge and a light-up, wearable tactical visor. See it all in action in the video below. If you’re not familiar with Overwatch, don’t worry; some Soldier: 76 gameplay captures are also shown.
