Even if you’re not an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo gamer yourself, and even if you’ve never played one of the many LEGO games, it’s hard not to appreciate the strange and stunning LEGO creations inspired by video games. Look for lots of LEGO models inspired by Halo, the Legend of Zelda, Gears of War, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and more. Game on!

Borderlands 2 returns to Pandora LEGO style

What began as several friends having a blast leveling up together in Borderlands 2 became a fun collaborative effort to showcase the cast of characters in Borderlands 2 with bricks. Evan Bordessa, Simon Liu, Daniel Church, Caleb Wagoner, Alec Doede, Eric Leis, and myself (Nick Jensen) present a brick built trip back to Pandora in search of loot and mayhem. Originally intended to be a tribute to the playable vault hunters, the collaborative layout became more expansive, covering several other major characters and a few enemies and vehicles found on the journey to the Vault.

First, let’s take a look at the playable vault hunters. From left to right: Axton the Commando (Evan), Salvador the Gunzerker (Eric), Zer0 (Daniel), Gaige the Mechromancer and Deathtrap (Nick), Maya the Siren (Caleb), and Krieg the Psycho (Evan).

The full layout features additional characters, vehicles, and scenery found throughout Pandora. Bandits, Hyperion engineers, and Hyperion loaders of all types and sizes stand among characters such as Face McShooty, Mad Moxxi, Mr. Torgue, Angel, Handsome Jack, Claptrap, and Tiny Tina. A pair of Runners, vending machines printed by EclipseGrafx, loot boxes, and a New-U Respawn Station complete the Pandora feel.

Skyrim’s Dwemer ruins in LEGO

I remember the first time I ran across Dwemer ruins in Morrowind. It was a mysterious cavern full of strange pipes and hissing steam, and then I heard a noise, and something rolled at me and I died. Needless to say, I came back for more, until I’d vanquished the curious Dwarven artifacts left to guard the riches of the lost Dwemer race. I enjoyed the amazing steampunk relics again in Skyrim years later, and LEGO builder Bartłomiej H brings that experience to the brick with these fantastic Dwemer ruins. They truly evoke the feel of the disheveled passageways and abandoned rooms filled with metal machines and odd artifacts. He even includes an intrepid adventurer (like you!) to fight through the devious Dwarven devices.

Survival starts in the core: LEGO versions of ReCore’s Mack and Joule

When my friend Lego Junkie posted his version of Mack from ReCore a few days ago, I only had a sketch model of heads for the main characters Mack and Joule. His version, as well as new gameplay footage and screenshots from E3 of these characters, was just the motivation I needed to move forward with said sketches.

LEGO CoreBot Mack from ReCore

A year and another E3 after the announcement of upcoming action-adventure title ReCore, we finally got gameplay footage of the hero Joule and her adorable CoreBot dog Mack. Combine this with a former Halo writer writing ReCore’s story, and I am hyped. Lego Junkie keeps the hype train rolling with his cute LEGO version of robo-dog Mack. I enjoy how poseable his Mack build is; it brings out the character in what looks to be a fun companion to Joule.

A small AT-ST can walk tall

TBB’s own Simon Liu has been busy at Brickworld and these micro AT-STs were a small part of a larger Star Wars: Battlefront display. The AT-STs are delicately balanced and ingeniously built at such a small scale. The background is a microscale version of Alex Doede’s bunker.

Simon says that these are in the tiniest form he can do, but I reckon there are some nano AT-STs out there waiting to be built.

Crush the Rebel scum in a LEGO AT-AT

Alec Doede shows his skills with constructing screen-accurate Star Wars builds again with this Walker Assault scene on planet Sullust inspired by EA Dice’s Star Wars Battlefront. The highlight and most prominent feature of the LEGO diorama is of course the AT-AT, with incredible detail in the legs and armor plating positioned at just the right angles. However, the realistically damaged TIE Fighter wing and the bunker to set the scene shouldn’t go overlooked.

The Vaygr fleet expands

Tim Schwalfenberg expands his Homeworld Vaygr fleet with this classy Vaygr missile frigate. It’s the second ship of Tim’s Vaygr fleet we’ve featured, after his excellent corvette, and Tim has more on the way to round out the armada. One of the best hallmarks of Homeworld-inspired spaceships is the clean color blocking, and Tim’s interpretation of the Vaygr fleet looks striking clad in white with red stripes. One of the best details is the missile launcher mounted on the side, a fantastic brick recreation of the original model’s detail.

Build your own miniature Songbird from BioShock Infinite [Instructions]

Following up a 1:1 scale Sky-Hook and an incredible minifig scale Songbird diorama, Imagine Rigney is back with another build from the universe of BioShock Infinite. This time around it’s an itty bitty Songbird that you can build from a handful of pieces, and there’s full instructions to make one yourself.

By the way, BioShock Infinite is a brilliant game and one of my all-time favourites. It’s relatively cheap now, so if you haven’t tried it yet, pick it up and give it a go.

In the same year we were introduced to such trend-setting digital marvels as the CGI dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, and the groundbreaking first-person shooter Doom, a rather different kind of video game appeared. It was a puzzle game called Myst. It was set in a virtual world that was presented to players not as low resolution 3D animation, but as beautifully rendered high resolution images. It was a nod to text-based adventures from the dawn of the gaming age, and became a surprise success, dominating the PC game market for almost a decade and helping to drive adoption of the new CD-ROM media format. Letranger Absurde has created this microscale LEGO version of the familiar Myst map.

BioShock Sky-Hook with motorized blades

Imagine Rigney built a life-sized Sky-Hook from Bioshock Infinite featuring motorized spinning hook blades. Whether it’ll support my weight on the Sky-Lines is another story. Check out the video on Flickr to see it in action.

Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device in LEGO

Leonid An is running awesome building experiments on some of the new parts. The result is this gorgeous handheld portal device from the Portal video game. I am guessing this build started with the white large figure armour piece, which has the same shape as a part of the original portal gun. However, the rest of the weapon is no less excellent and features a couple of great building solutions including these three minifigure hammer pieces on the other end. Take a moment to appreciate the peculiar scale of the gun; it is not too large, but has enough details which make it instantly recognizable.

An Elder Scrolls wonder

I consider some computer games to be pieces of art, and Elder Scrolls has always been one of those. You may find many great details in the stories, dialogues, characters, geography and locations, and Tava’s Beak is among those inspiring landmarks in The Elder Scrolls Online. Thorsten Bonsch is apparently very impressed with this ancient statue from an unknown civilization and decided to recreate it with LEGO parts. The result is magnificent! Almost every curve of the big rock is perfectly represented. Here’s a screenshot from the original game to compare with the LEGO version.
