The LEGO Star Wars 75252 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer and 10267 Winter Village Gingerbread House are now available from the LEGO Shop online as of the 1st of October. The LEGO Star Wars Battle of Endor Micro Build will be available as a free gift with purchase on sales over $75 on Triple Force Friday (4th -6th October) together with Double VIP Points for Star Wars purchases.

Star Wars Separatist Brick Destroyer Ultimate Collector Series

While fans scream out upon seeing yet another UCS Millennium Falcon (whether it’s in joy or angst is a different discussion altogether), flying right under the radar is the Separatist Brick Destroyer, or SBD, in LEGO Ultimate Series Collector scale. I must say this design by L-DI-EGO is one of the best re-imaginings of the humble LEGO brick separator. The intense greebling makes it all more realistic and I think it definitely needs to be considered for an upcoming Star Wars movie. After all, the Slave 1 reminds me of a household iron, I don’t see why this can’t be part of the lineup.

New LEGO Star Wars sets announced for Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian [News]

The LEGO Group today announced eight new building sets inspired by the Star WarsTM galaxy, which will become available on Triple Force Friday, October 4. The toys range from $19.99 to $159.99 and are based on the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the highly anticipated Disney+ live-action series The Mandalorian, and classic characters and scenes from the first eight chapters of the Skywalker saga. These sets add to the LEGO Group’s continued celebration of the 20th anniversary of the much-loved LEGO® Star Wars range that continues to unite fans of all ages all around the globe.

A fully operational Star Wars display

Now, witness the awesomeness that is the creation of Rui Miguel Anacleto. Taking inspiration from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, this build is a display of the climactic Battle of Endor, where the Rebel Alliance faced off against the Empire in a do-or-die attempt to destroy a second planet killer.

I can’t help but fawn over the cinematic experience contained in this build. From the Alliance’s Medical Frigate battling Star Destroyers to the Executor crashing into the Death Star, nearly every scene is here. Even Luke, Lando and Wedge flying away from the Death Star is visible, with an excellent use of flame pieces to simulate internal explosions.

War beast of burden

It was only seen briefly in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but the sight of the All-Terrain Open Transport lumbering through the forests of Felucia was not one to be forgotten. Builder Mr. Idler went to painstaking length to incorporate every ounce of detail into the clone troopers’ favorite method of transport. Each leg is articulate, with ankle joints and toes adding to the sense of an ancient war elephant.

This is probably the closest LEGO version of the AT-OT that can fit the same amount of clones as shown in the movie. Don’t worry about finding a spare seat: there’s room for everyone!

LEGO Star Wars 75252 Ultimate Collector Series Imperial Star Destroyer [Review]

The LEGO Star Wars line’s latest massive set in the Ultimate Collector Series is 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer, clocking in at a whopping 4,784 pieces and two minifigures, with a price to match the part count (US $699.99 | CAN $849.99 | UK £649.99). Depicting Darth Vader’s flagship Devastator seen at the end of Rogue One leading into the first moments of A New Hope, this is the first UCS ISD since 10030 in 2002 and the first UCS set since 75181 Y-wing Starfighter nearly 18 months ago. But is there more to this huge LEGO set than gray wedge plates? Let’s find out…

LEGO Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer and Winter Village Gingerbread House now available for VIPs [News]

Two new exclusive sets are now available for purchase to LEGO VIPs (free to join). The first is the massive Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer which comes with 4,784 pieces and two Imperial minifigures for US $699.99 | CAN $849.99 | UK £649.99. The second is the 2019 Winter Village set, 10267 Gingerbread House, which comes with 1,477 pieces and, two gingerbread minifigures for US $99.99 | CAN $139.99 | UK £84.99.

Purchases of 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer also qualify for double VIP points for a short time through the 22nd, which means you’ll accumulate a hefty amount of points for more LEGO purchases or other swag in the future. These sets will likely go out of stock quickly ahead of the holidays. Baby got Dewback

From the giant rancor to that thing in the Death Star’s trash compactor, there’s no shortage of interesting creatures in the Star Wars universe. One of the most memorable for me is the dewback, a reptile found on the desert world of Tatooine. Over the years, LEGO has released a few minifigure scaled versions of this creature. Some were very movie-accurate in appearance, but were constructed of giant molded parts without much hope for reuse. The recent Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters set features a brick-built dewback, but the adjustments needed to meet the microfighter theme meant that the creature wasn’t particularly movie-accurate. Luca S Projects has given us the best of both worlds with a brick-built dewback that looks just like the real thing.

Despite the necessary evil of the occasional blue-grey connection brick, the sand-green creature’s curves are very accurately reproduced. The use of the Legends of Chima crocodile eye tile works well, as do the minifigure arms and hands used as part of the bridle. It’s also worth mentioning the diorama as a whole; the base is subtle but enough is present to set the scene, and the use of the dusty stormtoopers is certainly apt. Now, when can I expect to see a nice 1:1 model? Someone’s got to be working on that…

Free Star Wars mini droid VIP exclusive with Droid Commander set purchase and a free LEGO lunchbox [News]

The LEGO Store Online has two promotions currently. First up is an exclusive gift with purchase of the LEGO BOOST 75253 Droid Commander set. VIPSs receive a free “mini” version of the droid commander set with a printed Star Wars anniversary tile. The promotion is available through Sept. 15 or while supplies last, so you may want to grab these as soon as you can. 199.99 USD | 269.99 CAD | 179.99 UK.

The second promotion is for an old school metal lunchbox with an image of the original patent on the front. This retro promotion is available online only with purchases more than $99 through September 15 or until supplies run out.

This isn’t the Star Destroyer you’re looking for

With the announcement of the new UCS Star Destroyer, Star Wars fans across the internet are both raving and complaining about the updated design of the Empire’s most feared warship. You won’t find any disappointments with Rubblemaker‘s ISD Aggressor, however. The original design of this build comes from Raskolnikov, who is well known for his highly detailed Star Destroyer creations. Rubblemaker smoothed out the hull plating and added more movie-accurate details.

Like some previous LEGO Imperial Star Destroyers, the ship features an interior segment of the bridge in minifigure scale, along with a few other interior details. Continue reading →
