LEGO Star Wars is one of the most popular LEGO themes of all time. Far beyond X-wings and TIE fighters, there’s a whole expanded universe of inspiration, and an army of LEGO fans ready to build whatever comes out of George Lucas’s head next.

Stunning LEGO Nebulon-B Medical Frigate

Morten_Svendsen has built a massive and highly-detailed model of the famous Nebulon-B Medical Frigate, first seen in The Empire Strikes Back. Morten’s dedication to getting the angles, details, and textures just right in comparison with the model used for shooting the movies is frankly astonishing…

The overall shaping and coloring are simply spot-on, but the little touches are what sets this creation apart. Check out the medical bay window featuring the famous scene of Luke, Leia, and the droids watching the Falcon depart to begin the search for Han Solo…

How to make your own 14k solid gold LEGO Star Wars Han Solo [Video]

Fans of LEGO come from all walks of life, including jewelers—and what happens when a LEGO fan wants to encase a Han Solo minifigure in carbonite? Well, we haven’t yet figured out how carbonite works, so S.E. Needham jewelers teamed up with youtube channel JerryRigEverything to find out if 14k gold will do instead. Han Solo might actually be worth more than Collectible Minifigures Series 10’s Mr. Gold now.

Star Wars podracing under the sea with Ariel

Fan site Imperium der Steine is running a contest to create a LEGO build blending Star Wars and Disney. Cecilie Fritzvold has brought podracing to the world of The Little Mermaid in this colourful podrace under the sea, comically called the Boonta Reef Classic (a parody of the Boonta Eve Classic podrace). Cecilie tells us that the pods are built to match the characters: a clamshell for Ariel, a gastropod shell for Sebastian, and a “dead carcass turned evil” pod for Ursula, pulled by Flotsam and Jetsam.

The Boonta Reef Classic

This unique creation is full of beautiful colours and some ingenious parts used to merge Star Wars podracing into the Little Mermaid’s world. For example, Ursula’s pod mimics Sebulba’s pod in shape, but has a color scheme more befitting the evil octopus witch. For a closer look at the colourful details, check out the close ups in Cecilie’s Boonta Reef Classic album on Flickr.

Official LEGO Star Wars Rogue One teaser image [News]

After seeing the Rogue One teaser trailer which was released last week, we’ve been very excited about the next installment in the Star Wars franchise. Unsurprisingly, we’ll be getting LEGO Star Wars sets from Rogue One as well as the main trilogy, and today LEGO has released their first teaser image featuring Rogue One’s main characters in LEGO form.

LEGO fans are also getting excited for the upcoming movie, and we’ve already started to spot Rogue One creations popping up. One of the first out of the gate is builder aranobilis98 with this great shot of the first Death Star under construction, as glimpsed in the trailer.

New LEGO Star Wars sets, official pictures spotted in the wild [News]

We covered the announcement of these sets earlier in the year in our extensive LEGO coverage from New York Toy Fair, but official pictures have recently been spotted on Amazon UK. The six sets are listed with a June 1st release date.

The highlight of the bunch is surely 75148 Encounter On Jakku, with its delightful blue Luggabeast…

UCS Millenium Falcon gets an expensive paint job

Aureliusz Falowski took the already expensive UCS Millenium Falcon model and replaced all the light gray parts with custom metallic silver ones to create an eye-dazzling pimped out ride for the galaxy’s most dazzling smuggler. Where did he get all those shiny parts you ask? It helps that he owns the store that makes them. Check out more detail shots on Flickr.

Fan builds original Star Wars poster and his favorite scenes from each movie out of LEGO

Alanboar Cheung, a talented builder from Hong Kong, has recreated the iconic 1977 movie poster from Star Wars: A New Hope and it’s got everything! Check out the spot-on details like the X-wings, wind-blown clothing, C3P0’s exposed wiring, and even moisture vaporators! To top it all off, Cheung added seven vignette scenes, one from each movie, to complete his Star Wars triptych.

LEGO STARWARS - A NEW HOPE

Each of the seven scenes represent a pivotal and memorable moment from the Star Wars film franchise. Overall, Cheung’s build captures the emotion and excitement of the movies, making me feel nostalgic and impatient for Episode VIII. You can check out more photos on Flickr.

Every speeder looks better in Classic Space style

Don’t know how to give your new speeder a cool and trendy look? Grab some light grey, blue and yellow pieces because everything looks better in Classic Space style. Billyburg proves this simple axiom once more with a top-class makeover of the legendary Star Wars X-31 Landspeeder. This model is awesome in many ways, but I especially love to see the curved windscreen piece, which has already become an inevitable part of this particular vehicle.

Who’s scruffy-looking?

Honestly, just about anybody with a handful of bricks and minimal finger dexterity can accidentally build some minifigs that look like they belong in the Star Wars universe. But this gang here is more than just slapped together. TR Brownridge has carefully assembled a band of no-good brigands that makes the phrase “scruffy-looking nerfherder” take on a whole new meaning. Now you can see why Princess Leia thought that phrase was such a good insult, and why Han Solo was so offended by it.

Stunning LEGO Darth Vader mask cleverly hides scenes from Star Wars

LEGO builder yu chris created this gorgeous replica of Darth Vader’s iconic samurai-inspired mask, which gleams with shades of black just like the original. But it’s not just a mask — turning it around reveals three clever chibi-style scenes from Anakin’s life. The tiny little Death Star hangar filled with parading stormtroopers is definitely my favorite bit, but the relief sculptures in the backgrounds of the other two scenes are each fantastic in their own right.
