LEGO Technic’s biggest set ever now available for pre-order: 42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator [News]

LEGO Technic is getting bigger this year, with the Liebherr R 9800 Excavator (42100) clocking in at a massive 4,108 pieces, making it officially the biggest Technic set ever. It’s now available for pre-order from LEGO.com for US $449.99 | CAN $549.99 | UK £399.99. Although the site doesn’t list its release date, we expect it to be Oct. 1 based on the previously released catalog. Using a customized version of new Control+ app that we just featured in our review of the brand new LEGO Technic 4×4 X-treme Off-Roader (42099), the giant mining excavator has not one but two smart hubs and seven motors.

Check out all the details of this huge new set below. Like Technic? Be sure to check out the just-announced 2,500-piece LEGO Technic Range Rover Defender (42110).

LEGO Shop Online now selling full cases of Disney Collectible Minifigures [News]

The LEGO Shop Online has now added complete cases of 60 collectible minifigures for sale, marking the first time we can recall the online store selling complete boxes rather than individual figures. Right now, Disney Series 2 is the only series available for purchase in full cases. It remains to be seen if full cases will be available for future series like the recently revealed Collectible Minifigures Series 19, or if this is simply LEGO attempting to move extra stock of the Disney series.

The cases are priced at US $239.99 | CAN $299.99 | UK £179.40, which is roughly the same price as buying 60 individual figures, but ensures you get an unopened case. While purchasing a full case isn’t for everyone, it is the easiest way to ensure you get a full set of minifigures. For those who don’t need a full 60 figures, splitting a case with a friend or two is also a great option. We found that our review case Disney Series 2 had two complete sets of figures, with almost a third complete set. Be sure to read our full review of the Disney Series 2 Collectible Minifigures for the rest of the details on this series.

Complete cases can also be purchased from third-party sellers on Amazon or eBay.

Giant LEGO stud wall hangers now available for pre-order on Amazon [News]

Here’s a bit of LEGO swag sure to liven up your LEGO room. These giant 1×1 round plate “studs” are actually wall hangers, perfect for coats, bags, or just bringing a bit of LEGO flair to your walls. While many of the LEGO-branded home decor items we see are aimed at a younger audience, I think these are pretty classy. Perfect replicas of their miniature counterparts, the three studs range in size from about 2 inches in diameter for the smallest, to nearly 4 inches for the largest. The set of 3 studs is priced at $9.99 USD.

The best part is that they don’t just come in the classic colors, either. There’s a pastel-toned set and a monochromatic set, too. All three will be available April 30, and are currently available for pre-order on Amazon.

And while you’re checking out LEGO on Amazon, don’t miss the Iron Man Hall of Armor, which just released April 1. The Avengers: Endgame set is already out of stock at many retailers (my local LEGO store was completely sold out today), and meanwhile Amazon not only has the set, but has it for 20% off. That makes it just $47.99 to jumpstart (or complete) your collection of Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits, since this set has 5!

Double VIP points Dec 7-10 at the LEGO Store – Black Card promo finally revealed [News]

When LEGO released 75192 Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon last year, the company made a big deal of the various promotions and special offers that LEGO VIP Program members who purchased the UCS Falcon would be receiving over the subsequent year, starting with a special new VIP “Black Card”. The reality has turned out to be considerably less awesome, with the Black Cards arriving several months after purchasing the Falcon and no unique promotions at all in the past 15 months since the Falcon’s release. But there’s finally some good news for Black Card holders, who will be receiving an email with a special code that adds a free Black Card display stand with a unique minifig when you purchase any LEGO Star Wars set.

In LEGO Shop news for everyone, the LEGO Shop is offering double VIP points on all purchases this weekend, today (Friday December 7th) through Monday, December 10th, just in time for last-minute holiday shopping.
