It’s no different at LEGO, who are releasing two festive additions to the Botanical Collection line. The more obviously festive of the two (in the Western world, anyway) is LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath, a 1,194-piece set that you can pre-order now for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99. LEGO Star Wars 40730 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber: Return of the GWP [Review]

Nothing quite says Star Wars like a lightsaber, does it? Many a happy childhood has been had waving around anything from sticks to plastic replicas and making humming noises. While many film props have seen official LEGO sets (think the helmet series), lightsaber replicas have been restricted to Gift-with-purchase (GWP) slots. 40730 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber is set to be the third such promotion, with availability from October 3rd through to October 10th. LEGO Star Wars 75397 UCS Jabba’s Sail Barge: Time to set sail, or wait for set sale? [Review]

The LEGO Star Wars line is no stranger to big, expensive sets. Since the second edition of the UCS Millenium Falcon in 2017, we’ve averaged one $500+ set every other year, ranging from the minifigure-scale 75313 AT-AT and 75331 Razor Crest to Star Destroyers both Imperial (75252) and Republic (75367). In 2024, we are being graced with another – and for once, it’s not overwhelmingly grey! 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge is the latest entry to the Ultimate Collector Series line, and a minifigure-scale one, at that. With 3,942 pieces, it will retail for US $499.99 | CAN $649.99 | UK £429.99, and may also be found at third-party retailers like Amazon or eBay. This LEGO Sail Barge will start crossing the Dune Sea from October 3rd for LEGO Insiders, while journeys for everyone else start from October 6th. LEGO Art 31213 Mona Lisa – a Renaissance masterpiece? [Review]

Ever since the launch of LEGO 18+ sets marketed primarily toward adult builders and collectors, the category has produced a wide variety of models from typewriters to guitars intending to attract more customers who might otherwise pass the LEGO store by at the mall. One theme within the overall line, LEGO Art, has introduced some very iconic replicas of famous paintings, such as LEGO Ideas 21333 Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh and LEGO 31208 The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Hokusai. But one classic work of art was noticeably missing from the line-up… until now. The recently announced 31213 Mona Lisa brings Leonardo da Vinci’s famous portrait of a demure woman with a mysterious smile to life. LEGO Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – a beloved classic comes to life [Review]

Since its premiere in 1993, Tim Burton’s Disney animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas, directed by Henry Selick (who went on to direct other stop-motion classics such as James and the Giant Peach and Coraline), has been a favorite holiday tradition for families and children-at-heart worldwide. LEGO fans have been eager for an official set and had their appetites whetted somewhat by the release of collectible minifigures for Jack and Sally as part of the second Disney CMF series. The LEGO Ideas platform has had several projects inspired by the film submitted over the years but they have never been approved to become official sets… until now. LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures 71047 [Review]

When I first started playing Dungeons & Dragons, my group used LEGO minifigures to represent our characters, as many other tabletop gaming parties have done. After all, minifigures are about the right size and highly customizable. So it delights me tremendously that LEGO has finally picked up the D&D license, kicking off with the Ideas set 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale earlier this year. Rather than the Ideas set being a one-off IP tie-in though, LEGO is following up with a Collectible Minifigures series, providing a cast of 12 new characters to round out your adventuring options. Officially revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last month, 71047 LEGO Minifigures – Dungeons & Dragons will be available starting Sept. 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $5.99 | UK £3.49.

LEGO Icons Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom [Review]

LEGO Botanical Collection sets have featured iconic flowers from around the world, and the vases included have also reflected some of their real-world counterparts’ popular styles using various unique building techniques. Paired with 10368 Chrysanthemum, the second set in the summer 2024 wave is the iconic plum blossom, which has a very similar Chinese-inspired vase and wooden base. These two flowers are part of four Asian flowers known in Chinese culture as the four gentlemen, one representing each season. The plum blossom represents winter. LEGO Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom contains 327 pieces and will be available on August 1st for US $29.99 | CAN $39.99 | UK £24.99
