This T. rex doesn’t want to hunt, he wants to be fed!

Thanks to regular building contests held by the LEGO Ideas team, hundreds of fantastic custom creations have seen the light in the recent couple of years. The Unleash Your Own Genetically Modified Hybrid Dinosaur! building competition gathered some of the craziest and funniest creatures of this summer. As we continue seeing some of the best entries as the builders share them elsewhere online, we can’t help but admire this hilarious Veggiesaurus by Scott Wilhelm.

Well, we know there were a lot of vegetarian dinosaurs, but a creature like a “vegetarian Tyrannosaurus” sounds like either a freak of nature or the triumph of modern science. Looking at the pictures of this foody, I tend to think it’s a win rather than a failure. A full-length picture of the T. rex reveal the actual size of the build; the furniture and table accessories elevate the work to a whole new level. And although this Tyrannosaurus rex looks very frustrated, I hope it will feel much better once he finishes his dinner.

The big bad Santa

Opportunity knocks this Christmas for Mr. Wolf. The last little pig had no boiling pot on his range — will the fireplace be enough to prevent this bad Santa from delivering his present? DOGOD Brick Design follows up last year’s seasonal LEGO build with a charming mixed-up fable. The expression on the surprised pig’s face and splayed trotter pose is wonderful, and Mr. Wolf’s sneaky smirk and Santa hat provides the perfect counterpoint. It’s another fantastic festive creation from one of the LEGO community’s best builders

A day at the office with Bob the Alien

This is Bob the Alien. Bob the Alien is a salesman. He manages a whole department. Bob works for his manager David Liu. David taught Bob everything he knows and helped him to be where he is today. In fact, one could say Bob only exists today because of David.

Do u kno da wey

The Budas Brick’s own Iain Heath obviously seems to kno da wey, while simultaneously eating Tide pods and inapropriately reacting to a serious topic. If you are not sure what I am talking about, Iain has built a mashup of some of the dankest memes of January 2018. Agree with it or not, dank memes are the humour of the present day.

Iain is known for his excellent character builds and always keeping up to date with the hottest trends – from popular media to memes. The Ugandan Knuckles figure is as close to a low-resolution 3D model as a LEGO build can be and the hat is instantly recognizable as well. While the Tide pods are built only out of a few pieces each, they are very obvious when seen accompanied by other January 2018 memes. Now that February has started though, the former memes are officially stale. And now, it is time for CPP memes to take over the internet!

Summer comes to an abrupt and tragic end...

There are many ways in which summer can come to an end — going back to school, traveling to a different hemisphere, or — as Tokyo Tag Team demonstrates — as a result of an invasion by body-snatching, one-eyed aliens who sneak up from behind while you’re playing at the beach with a big green ball. The alien’s arms are fairly standard, but the dark tan pieces encircling the creature give it a fearsome, armored look, while the large Mixels eye gives the terrifying entity a comical appearance.

Crippling foot pain was their plan all along

Builder Didier Burtin shows that your LEGO bricks causing great foot pain was their devious plan the whole time, with his brick-built interpretation of the meme. Didier’s build is my favorite of all the physically built versions I’ve seen, especially with the shape of the foot in the diagram.

Tread carefully. These bricks are most painful when you least expect them.

The Sorcerer’s Appendix

Sometimes, LEGO builds are less about amazing techniques or unusual parts selections than they are about a great little story, scene, or joke. Yes, there’s a great monochrome background behind the bright blue hues in the foreground in this vignette by Julius von Brunk, but it’s ultimately the very silly pun in the title that makes this LEGO creation wonderful.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens – How it Should Have Ended [Video]

Our friends over at Brotherhood Workshop have teamed up with “How it Should Have Ended” to create this hilarious brick-built alternate ending to The Force Awakens. I won’t spoil the funny with commentary — just watch the video.

With the movie coming out on DVD & Blu-ray in a few weeks, plus summer 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets just around the corner, expect the recent lull in LEGO Star Wars creations to end fairly soon…

And as it always has... Rock crushes Scissors

LEGO’s 1×1 tiles with rounded corners, which can be found in the Mixels series 7 sets, look like one of this year’s most interesting new parts. And Takamichi Irie has devised the most hilarious way to introduce them. Here’s a diagram of the rules of the legendary game Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock as presented by Sheldon Cooper in popular American sitcom The Big Bang Theory. These nails look both cartoonish and realistic at the same time. I can’t wait to see tons of different uses of “nail” tiles in upcoming models.

Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base in LEGO (Warning: Choking hazard!)

One of the best Saturday Night Live sketches of the season so far was in last week’s episode guest-starring Adam Driver, who reprised his role as the very emo Kylo Ren as he went undercover to mingle among his employees on Starkiller Base. Chris McVeigh has recreated the hilarious opening scene when “Matt” asks First Order staff in the cafeteria whether they like their jobs.

Harrison Ford signs a fan’s LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon on Conan

Back home from seeing The Force awakens, I’m watching Conan O’Brien interview J.J. Abrams and Harrison Ford, and was entertained to see that the UCS Millennium Falcon just made an appearance. Watch how the actor who played Han Solo carefully handles this painstakingly built LEGO set.

Dial Z for Zombie

This deceptively simple pile o’ figs is clearly a recreation of the Jerusalem scene from World War Z. But builder LEGO Will actually meant it as comment on shopping mania around the new Star Wars merch. However, I think it may become relevant again next week as LEGO fans clamor to pick up their WALL-E and Dimensions sets!
