New September 2024 LEGO sets now available – Advent Calendars, Great Deku Tree, & more [News]

LEGO is kicking off the first week of September with some exciting treats for fans of their licensed content. Get ready for a September filled with LEGO fun, featuring LEGO Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set, and 76437 The Burrow – Collector’s Edition. An anticipated line of minifigures from the Dungeons & Dragons theme will also be released this month, making a great addition to the LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, released earlier this year. Plus, we get the annual advent calendars hitting the LEGO shop for those shoppers eager to get a head start on the holiday season. LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures 71047 [Review]

When I first started playing Dungeons & Dragons, my group used LEGO minifigures to represent our characters, as many other tabletop gaming parties have done. After all, minifigures are about the right size and highly customizable. So it delights me tremendously that LEGO has finally picked up the D&D license, kicking off with the Ideas set 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale earlier this year. Rather than the Ideas set being a one-off IP tie-in though, LEGO is following up with a Collectible Minifigures series, providing a cast of 12 new characters to round out your adventuring options. Officially revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last month, 71047 LEGO Minifigures – Dungeons & Dragons will be available starting Sept. 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $5.99 | UK £3.49.

To say that this year’s release of LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale has had an impact on the LEGO fan community might be the understatement of the year. D&D remains as popular as ever in the role-playing game community, and the joining of a custom-made game with custom-made LEGO models delights all kinds of builders. One of those builders, Luis Saladrigas of LEGO Masters US Season 4, has gone above and beyond with an epic creation depicting a fantasy campaign. LEGO Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, Super Mario & more among LEGO sets revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2024 [News]

San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) has become a favourite place of LEGO’s to reveal new sets, and we’ve been treated to five all-new reveals over the first day of the convention (as well as a first look at the previously-announced 41838 Travel Moments). The pool of characters for your Dungeons & Dragons adventures is increased from September 1st thanks to a Collectible Minifigure Series, 71047 LEGO Minifigures – Dungeons & Dragons. No doubt these will pair nicely with 21348 Red Dragon’s Tale, and you can pre-order them now for US $4.99 | CAN $5.99 | UK £3.49. Another noteworthy minifigure makes a comeback in a Star Wars set, too: 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter turns LEGO folklore into a tie-in with the upcoming Rebuild the Galaxy mini-series. That one releases in just a few days on August 1st, retailing for US $39.99 | CAN $49.99 | UK £34.99.

New LEGO sets for April 2024 now available for purchase [News]

Don’t be fooled! April 1st means a new wave of LEGO sets hitting store shelves. And while the offerings aren’t as plentiful as those we saw in March, there’s a couple of behemoths that have arrived (for LEGO Insiders only) which are destined to quickly sell-out: LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons and Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale and LEGO Batman 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City. LEGO Dungeons & Dragons 6510864 Mimic GWP and Red Dragon’s Tale campaign – The adventure continues!

Tomorrow is a very big day for LEGO and D&D fans, with LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale preparing to hit store shelves. But this massive new set also ushers in a few optional items that go along with it. Beginning on April 1st, the Red Dragon’s Tale campaign book will be available in the LEGO Insiders Rewards shop (US | CAN | UK) for 2,700 points. And if you purchase the new LEGO Ideas set between April 1st – 7th from the LEGO website, you’ll be able to pick up the 168-piece LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Mimic Dice Box GWP along with the massive tower (US | CAN | UK). The GWP may also be available from resellers via eBay. I got a chance to look at both before they hit store shelves. Read on to find out if these accessories are worth picking up!

Can you best this chest in your tabletop battles?

It’s a good time to be a fan of LEGO, Dungeons, and Dragons (not necessarily in that order). Partly, that’s down to the release of the epic LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons and Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, as recently reviewed by our resident Dungeon Master Kyle. But equally, its release inspires talented builders like Dicken Liu to build their own creatures of fantasy! The humble mimic is a staple of D&D campaigns, and this one seems a little more dangerous than most. Normally you just need to watch your hands when diving in for treasure – but with its hatchet and shield, you’ll have a hard enough time just getting near this particular chest!

This year, we celebrate a very important anniversary in the LEGO community. And no, I’m not referring to the 50th anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons, although that’s certainly an epic milestone. Instead, I’m talking about the 25th anniversary of Star Wars LEGO sets. For it was all the way back in 1999 with that star-crossed fusion of intellectual property that some of us first believed we could see our favorite bricks paired with D&D. Well, it’s finally happened with LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale. Coming in at 3,745 pieces, this set is based on the contest-winning design by fan Lucas Bolt, and sculpted into the final model by LEGO designers (and huge D&D fans) Mark Stafford and Jordan Scott. The set will release on the LEGO website on April 1st for LEGO Insiders (April 4th for everyone else), and retail for US $359.99 | CAN $469.99 | UK £314.99. LEGO unveils Dungeons & Dragons set and announces upcoming minifigure series [News]

Back in 2022, LEGO ran a contest on their Ideas platform asking fans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of tabletop RPG Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). The winner was announced last year, and today, we can see the final product. LEGO has unveiled 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, a 3,745-piece set that will retail for US $359.99 | CAN $469.99 | UK £314.99 starting from April 1st for LEGO Insiders (April 4th for everyone else). Additionally: if you order your copy of this set before April 7th, you can get your hands on a free LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Mimic Dice Box. A special D&D adventure book will also be available from D&D Beyond and for LEGO Insiders, either as a free digital download or a paperback book for 2,700 Insiders points.

A D&D LEGO Minifigure series has also been announced, with a launch date of September 2024. To celebrate all this, fan designer Lucas Bolt and LEGO Designer Jordan Scott met up with famous D&D players Anjali Bhimani, Luis Carazo and Ginny Di to record an adventure of their own. This will go live at 9:00 PDT/12:00 EDT/17:00 BST on the 6th of April at LEGO.com/DnD. The SquatchLUG LEGO Dungeon Delve at BrickCon 2023 rolls a Nat 20! [Feature]

A little over a month ago, I talked about a collaborative LEGO project debuting at BrickCon 2023: a massive modular Dungeons & Dragons dungeon. I was lucky enough to be invited to take part, contributing the 3-wide module with glowing green eyes I talked about in September. But now, having passed the History check, I’m able to give some further details behind this amazing, fantasy-themed project.

Enter the LEGO D&D dungeon at BrickCon, if you dare!

One of the things I enjoy most about this wonderful LEGO hobby is the people I get to collaborate with on projects. And this year at BrickCon, I have the good fortune to participate in a massive Dungeons & Dragons project with so many talented builders. For the last 5 months, all 24 of us have been working independently on our own rooms for a mega-dungeon, both large and small ones. And I guess builder Doug Hughes stopped reading after “large.” In his intricately-designed room, he’s housed a fearsome lava centipede being controlled by a group of dark elves. The lighting is splendid, the design appropriately ornate, and the technique on the monster gets Volothamp’s seal of approval for sure! Let’s hope our band of adventurers can get past before it escapes its bonds.

And in case you’re wondering what I contributed, I guess I can give you a peek at that below. I wanted to go for something that felt a bit more like a “finale.” Anyone care to roll for initiative? And as for the rest of the dungeon, you’ll have to head to BrickCon or look out for pics from the convention after next weekend of the whole thing assembled and on display.

A LEGO chest full of D&D winning

Some people have a special talent for cooking, crafting, music making, and what have you. Esteemed LEGO builder Sean Mayo’s special talent lies in…well LEGO building but also mixing in other nerdy hobbies and making them super cool. I mean, take this treasure chest chock full of neat little Dungeons & Dragons doodads, for example. It includes a collectible silver figure, dice storage complete with dice and bag, a vertical holder for a notepad and D&D spell cards, and a gold coin. Sean tells us he has taken the classic Castle LEGO dragon of yore and combined it with the D&D logo to make the graphic. Clever!

The whole shebang can be stored neatly inside the box. What Dungeon Master wouldn’t want this at their next gaming event? If this wasn’t enough to warrant a full-on nerdgasm, then you may also be thrilled to learn that the outer panels are easily interchangeable to instead reflect a pirate theme or whatever else you’d like. What a special talent indeed! My special talent? I’m glad you asked! I write sensitive poetry about the man from Nantucket.
