Tag Archives: Dioramas

There’s nothing like a massive LEGO diorama to prove that you’ve arrived as a LEGO builder. The LEGO dioramas we feature here span everything from realistic medieval castles to scenes from World War II, and more than a few post-apocalyptic wastelands.

Mech Bay Zero

Whew, back to normal blogging! We’ve missed highlighting a few non-BrickCon related creations over the weekend, but we’ll get to them.

Aaron Andrews (DARKspawn), who’s normally a castle builder, switches fancy and builds a big mech bay instead. It’s sufficient to say one might say that he’s been up to building mecha all his life, but that’s just because this Aussie builder is incredibly talented. Enjoy the creation before Aaron surprises us with something else!

The adventures of Shannon’s little white kitten

One part Alice in Wonderland, one part Super Mario Bros., four parts awesome, Shannon Young places a little white kitten in certain peril.

The door behind the cloud is amazing, and the sun is brilliant.

They arrive...

I have no idea what this scene by Wobnam means, but it’s pretty darn cool. More pics on Brickshelf.

Halo Rat’s Nest level in LEGO by Vidgamer838

Vidgamer838 has recreated the Rat’s Nest multiplayer map from Halo 3, complete with the trio of UNSC Marines voiced by Firefly and Serenity cast members — Alan Tudyk (Wash), Nathan Fillion (Mal Reynold), and Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb):

BBQ on Volcanic Island

Marcin (Hippotam) cooks up a fresh take on the pirate theme and presents outdoor BBQ with a flavor of, mmm… pirates. Don’t miss out on all the juicy details such as this hilarious shark killer contraption. For a small diorama, Volcanic Island sure packs some zing!

Cranium Crag – a pirate hideout

Tyler Clites (Legohaulic) knows where to put a pirate’s booty – inside a giant skull shaped mountain on a castaway island of course. Check out the interior that is chock full of more details to absorb and notice that the two halves of the mountains are put together via LEGO magnets as opposed to the usual hinges.

Fire!

I’m loving sense of urgency in the this diorama by zgrredek. It has that wacky, silent movie feel. Almost the Keystone Cops turned fireman.

Those horses are swell, as well:

Bumper car fun with Danila Martyakhin

Russian LEGO fan (and fellow LEGO Ambassador) Danila Dandily Martyakhin has posted a gorgeous bumper car diorama.

Click through for “daylight” photos on Brickshelf, but I just love this “night” shot:

The bumper cars themselves are worth a closer look:

Rebel attack – an all out LEGO Star Wars battle in microscale!

Tim G (Roguebantha) has been working lately on a microscale Star Wars battle of epic proportions. It’s all come down to this action-packed diorama featuring some of the best LEGO Star Wars mini models around. Click on the pictures below for the Flickr gallery, or you can check out the Brickshelf gallery here.

Check out the smoke effect on this crashing X-wing, which is cleverly supported by the laser beam from the turret.

RichardAM discovers a rather different kind of booty

Mutinous bilge-rat Richard A. McCarthy (Flickr) has encountered some lovely lasses of the sea:

Governor by me onesies

Scurvy seadog Jordan Schwartz strands an Imperial landlubber on a desert isle. Down below, there be nothin’ but a shark and a poop deck.

Says Jordan, “After crashing against a shark infested reef, our lone Imperial Governor is stranded on a small, unstable spit of land. And I think the heat is getting to him…”

(Just for the record, I’m not going to try to talk like a pirate in every post today.)

Lighthouse Island

Check out this peaceful lighthouse scene that has a classic-town theme feel to it created by Matija Grguric (the builder who brought you Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye). Take note of the incorporation of this raised baseplate into the creation.
