All that glitters is cottage cheese

For centuries, scientists have labored in vain trying to turn lead into gold. Builder martin.with.bricks remembers the next best thing – Just turn gold into cottage cheese instead! And thanks to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his lab assistant Beaker, today we can do just that. In this lovely tribute, Martin has recreated the classic Muppet Labs, complete with a variety of equipment, technical readouts, and a big set of windows to open in case of fire. (Like that ever happens in Muppet Labs…) I like how just the shape of some of the LEGO elements is enough to transform them into science-ready glassware. Those “minifigure action pose” 1×1 modified plates in the foreground feel right at home, as does that 1×1 with center bar in the background. It’s a set up for comedy ~~gold~~ cottage cheese all right.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71034 Series 23 – “Oops, All Costumes” [Review]

LEGO’s Collectible Minifigures have long been a source of new and unique gear for minifigures to wear, thanks in large part to the preponderance of “mascot” style costumes. Numerous animals, fruits and vegetables, and even LEGO bricks have all served as the basis for elaborate minifigures. With Series 23, LEGO is doubling down on that idea with a line that seems to be all costumed characters. There’s not a single regular citizen or historical figure among them. No athletes or doctors or judges. No aliens, zookeepers or gamers or dog show trainers. Nope, LEGO’s 71034 Collectible Minifigures Series 23 is an entire line of characters dressed in costume and ready to celebrate with you this September 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49.

A very nice front door scene, with a twist

Hide-and-seek is a game that some people take very seriously, like the person in this scene by PaulvilleMOCs. Try to find them… I’ll wait. When I first saw this build I thought it was a lovely model of a front porch, with solid building techniques and some well-made plants… okay, did I spoil it? I did, didn’t I? The plant on the left is actually a Collectible Minifig wearing a plant costume. I bet the seeker will have as much trouble finding them as I did.

Monday morning at the watering hole

Frequently featured LEGO builder Eli Willsea is on a roll with a series of vignettes, this time building a scene around a collectible Minifig and a crustacean, who share something something in common: The hermit and the hermit crab meet each other at the local watering hole. The candle piece is used to create several bamboo stalks above the scene and as a path for the crab to follow to the water. Recently released Ninjago sets that include the katana in lime green make perfect plants along each side.

A week ago we had a reveal of the complete lineup of the characters from the upcoming Collectible Minifigure Series 23, and today LEGO has just released images that give us a closer look at each individual figure.

LEGO reveals Collectible Minifigures CMF Series 23 (71034) featuring Popcorn Kid, Ship Captain, Snowman and more [News]

LEGO reveals a lineup of 12 new characters for the 71034 Collectible Minifigures Series 23. Pricing will remain at USD $4.99 as with the previous CMF series 22. The minifigures will be available as blind packs on September 1, 2022.

Giving nature a hand

The Flower Pot Girl (from the collectable minifigure series 18) gets a boost in this thought-provoking build created by Pascal Hetzel. The model shows an arm raising the colourful minifigure and flowers out of a stone box. Transparent wedges seep through cracks in the stonework and could be viewed as toxic waste with the arm saving the plant life from falling in. The forearm is presented in a staggered motion in order to portray the limb outstretched at an angle. Macaroni pieces are used to represent humanoid curled fingers with small bulb pieces in white forming the fingertips. Best not to give this one a shake, otherwise those carefully placed wedges and flowers will be going everywhere.

When The Muppet Show debuted in 1976, it was an unconventional piece of television, to say the least. And it was also a near-instant hit. The weekly struggle of Kermit the Frog trying to put on a variety show with the help of a human guest star (and a plethora of bears, pigs, dogs, weirdos, and monsters) would go on to become the biggest TV program in the world. The show came to an end in 1981, with the Muppet gang arguably at the height of their popularity, and the Muppets would continue to delight audiences in TV specials and on movie screens for decades to come. Nowadays, new Muppet content is sparser than it used to be. But you can’t keep a good frog down. LEGO Muppet Collectible Minifigures revealed [News]

The long-awaited and actively discussed Muppets Collectible Minifigure series is finally unveiled online on LEGO’s official social feeds. Consisting of 12 characters, the series will hit shelves on May 1.

As usual, watch out for our review of the new minifigures here on The Brothers Brick. For now, LEGO has only shared first promo images, with high-quality product images to follow.

The LEGO Group wins seven Toy of The Year (2022) Awards from The Toy Foundation [News]

The LEGO Group picks up seven awards out of the 16 categories featured in the prestigious 22^nd annual Toy of the Year event. The seven awards won is a significant achievement and leap from the four awards in 2021 and three awards obtained in 2020.

This realistic flora build is making us go nuts.

One of the downsides to collecting LEGO’s Collectible Minifigure line is ending up with rampant duplicates, thanks to their blind bag packaging. Mellegobuilder must have run into this problem, as she’s got at least 8 of the acorn caps from Series 22’s Forest Elf figure. But, when life give you lemons, you make lemonade. So, when life gives you acorn caps, make oak tree branches. With just a few radar dishes, 1×1 round plates, and some flex tubing, Mel turned the accessories from some extra Forest Elves into a branch so realistic that it made the Brothers Brick bullpen do a double take. If you’re still looking to cut down on your duplicates, remember that you can always rely on our handy feel guides. But Mel has me thinking the duplicate figures might be worth it.

A house fit for a forest elf

You can easily imagine this adorable hut, created by Tobias Goldschalt, hidden away, deep in a mystical forest. The build is oddly reminiscent of the dwellings featured in the Angry Birds films, but this cosy home has more of an earthy feel in its design. The building has a great bulbous shape to it, created by the large segments often used in hot air balloon models. The green wing pieces blend in perfectly with the overhanging leafy roof and the forest elf, from the collectible minifigures series 22, looks more than happy with his new accommodation.
