BrickHeadz debuted in 2016 as a new way for LEGO fans to build and display their fandom and creativity. As of 2024, LEGO has released over 250 BrickHeadz characters, sold either individually or in groups. While most BrickHeadz are based on characters from pop culture, like Marvel comics, Disney films, or Lord of the Rings, LEGO also releases BrickHeadz tied to holidays, as well as a kit to make a BrickHeadz character of yourself! As all BrickHeadz share a common size and style, creating your own can be a fun way to share your love for a favorite character.

LEGO BrickHeadz 41597 Go Brick Me now available [News]

It’s no secret that we’re madly in love with the new BrickHeadz customization kit, so we’re very pleased that all of our readers can join in the fun of building your own BrickHeadz characters by picking up your own copies of 41597 Go Brick Me, which is available starting April 1st from the LEGO Store ($29.99 US | £25.99 | $39.99 CDN).

41597 Go Brick Me includes a whopping 708 pieces and has the necessary brackets, eyes, and other unique parts to build two complete characters, with enough other parts to customize them in literally thousands of different combinations. The set is a screaming deal as a parts pack even if you don’t intend to build a single BrickHeadz character.

Wonderful BrickHeadz of truly awful people

One of the things I really love about the LEGO building community is how LEGO artists can undermine conventions and subvert expectations. We’ve long maintained the viewpoint here at The Brothers Brick that LEGO is indeed art. Art can be fun, art can be funny, art can be uncomfortable, and yes, art can definitely be political — Nobel Prize for Literature winner Toni Morrison says, “All good art is political! There is none that isn’t. And the ones that try hard not to be political are political by saying, ‘We love the status quo.'” So it’s always interesting to see LEGO artists take on unexpected, difficult, and even uncomfortable subjects. And there is nothing more discomfiting than seeing our favorite LEGO BrickHeadz style applied by Swedish LEGO artist O Wingård to two of the most terrible people in human history — General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Joseph Stalin and Nazi Führer Adolf Hitler.

But discomfort should provoke thought, and thought should provoke discussion, and discussion can (but doesn’t always) result in progress. If LEGO is art and all good art is political, then good LEGO creations are (by the transitive property of equality) inherently political. If you’re a decent human being, these adorable BrickHeadz should make you deeply uncomfortable. What does that say about art? About the human condition?

LEGO BrickHeadz 41597 Go Brick Me customization kit [Review]

We first brought you the news about the LEGO BrickHeadz 41597 Go Brick Me customization kit at Toy Fair in New York last month. It was clear from the parts selection and packaging that LEGO intends builders to create a broad range of characters from the set, which includes 708 pieces for $29.99 (and will be available on April 1st but is starting to show up in the wild already).

This set is an utterly unique LEGO set, remarkable in many ways. We purchased a couple early copies of the set from a major US retailer, and we spent an entertaining evening building avatars of ourselves and a diverse cast of interesting characters. Let’s dig in and see what’s so different about this LEGO set.

Build your very own BrickHeadz Leprechaun [Intructions]

Looking for a bit of Irish luck? Now you can build your very own BrickHeadz Leprechaun this St. Patrick’s Day. Sorry, no wishes granted by this LEGO fellow, but maybe a little luck will rub off on you.

LEGO Jurassic World BrickHeadz 41614 revealed [News]

It’s looking more and more like each LEGO theme will be getting the BrickHeadz treatment, with the reveal today of the first official box art and product photos of the BrickHeadz from the next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (due in theaters this June). Following the combo-pack release of two characters in a single set we first saw with 41489 Rey & Kylo Ren last year, 41614 Owen & Blue features the protagonist played by Chris Pratt alongside a brick-built CGI dinosaur. The set includes 234 pieces, and we’ll bring you an update when we have a firm release date and price.

Blue is the first non-humanoid character released as a BrickHeadz (even the seasonal BrickHeadz like the Valentine’s Day Bee and Easter Rabbit are fairly anthropomorphic), so it will be interesting to see how LEGO recreates other animals and creatures in the future.

Are you not entertained?

The custom Brickhead models just keep coming! I am glad to see that the latest LEGO building trend to make custom versions of the popular Brickheadz line is not limited to pop-culture like Star Wars and Marvel. This Roman centurion by Koen demonstrates some very nice parts usage. From the mini-fig spear and shield to an assortment of recently released curved and angled tile elements. And don’t miss the gold printed Wonder Woman tile! The curved fan on the helmet really completes the look.

LEGO BrickHeadz 41597 Go Brick Me box art unveiled [News]

It’s a BrickHeadz kind of news day today, with the upcoming Marvel Avengers Infinity War BrickHeadz revealed earlier today, followed by the final box art for the Go Brick Me customization kit we first shared from Toy Fair a few weeks ago. 41597 Go Brick Me will be released in April and includes 708 pieces at a retail price of 29.99 (USD) / 39.99 (CAD).

The response to our coverage from Toy Fair last month was overwhelmingly positive, even from non-BrickHeadz builders. The sheer number and variety of pieces in the set for such a low price point is excellent.

Headz up for more Rebel heroes

I have a feeling that the BrickHeadz series still has a pretty long lifespan with the amount of flexibility and simplicity of its appeal to the masses, reinforced by the upcoming 41597 Go Brick Me customization kit. The Star Wars franchise is no stranger to this trend, and we see a healthy amount of creativity that stands out, including these BrickHeadz of Admiral Ackbar, Biggs Darklighter, and Leia Organa. Tom Vanhaelen designed this trio, and really hit the nail on the head with that ‘stash. That printed moustache tile has “I belong to Biggs” written all over it.

Pulp Fiction meets brick reality

The LEGO community’s unending crusade to turn every pop fiction character into a BrickHeadz figure continues today with both Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield; John Stephens did an exceptional job getting these character’s traits into the blocky style. Jules’ hair, while a simple build, does so much to identify him and the cigarette, collars and earrings are more great touches which make this duo so good in this format.
