With a catalog of outstanding aircraft and sci-fi models dating back to 2008 on Flickr, I was surprised to find that TBB has never featured Italian builder Simone (Wiseman_Lego). In an effort to make up for lost time, enjoy this double shot of excellence. First up is a Simone’s recent build the “Fighter prototype“.
I reached back to the summer of 2012 for the second selection, titled “Project Have Void“.
Ekoww would like to introduce you to “Junior“, the latest additon to his Folklore, Myth and Superstition series. Although the face may be something that only a mother can love, the sculptural talent of the builder is undeniable.
Jas Nagra (J5N) returns to TBB after nearly three years with his latest model, the GFK “RODAN” Warsuit mkII. Small feet seem to be all the rage with mecha builders these days, and Jas kicks it up a notch by adding what appear to be minifig capes to the lower legs. The unique result is somewhere between WWI puttees and 1980’s leg warmers.
Pedro Vezini pays homage to the late great Frank Vincent Zappa with his latest model simply titled “Zappa“. The builder credits Iain Heath’s Building Bilbo Baggins video for inspiring him to experiment with a different style. Mission accomplished Pedro; Frank’s mustache alone is worth the price of admission. I think I’ll go dust off my copy of “Uncle Meat” and give it a spin.

Wait a sec., that isn’t a Matchbox car…
Angka Utama creates quite possibly the cleanest little LEGO car of all time. With highly efficient piece usage, he achieves the lines of the 250 GT in near perfection!
zizy00220022 takes an already stunning little LEGO mecha and kicks up the ‘WOW-factor’ with some rather slick photo editing.
This makes me want to watch some Gundam real bad…
Amateur and professional photographers alike may particularly appreciate RGB900’s striking brick recreation of a DSLR camera – complete with strap! The attention to detail and clever use of parts demonstrate how the medium really “lens” itself to this model. ISO recommend checking out more photos here.
This fantastic dinosaur diorama by flickr user TMM seems a fitting model to blog, since I’m just about to go check out the new 3D release of Jurassic Park (can you believe it’s been 20 years?). I love the mottled reddish coloring on the fin that TMM has achieved just through simple plate stacking, and of course the shaping is spot on.
Polish builder Jarek brings us this completely crazy and awesome trio of bio-mechanical exoskeletal creatures. He says he built them off-the-cuff as a break from another model, but you’d never be able to tell, since they’re packed with fantastic details and clever techniques.
There’s often a glut of fairly similar (though often awesome) starfighters each year during Novvember, so it’s nice to see a great fighter outside that box. Nathan DeCastro brings us this excellent “T-6 Iron Venom” with beefy engines and formidable armaments.
The “Iron Venom” is a variation on Nate’s contribution to the Starfighter Telephone Game, in which builders send each other a LEGO starfighter to inspire the next build in the chain.
Nate was lucky enough to receive his inspiration from Mark Stafford (his Duodon, featured here a couple months ago). Here’s Nate’s “Duolos” fighter, on the right, alongside Mark’s “Duodon”:
