About Simon

Simon could write a really good bio, but he's too busy building.

A pirateship built for two

One of the really fun things I like to do is collaborate on builds – Eurobricks had the same idea with the Pirates Teamwork Contest. One of the entries was by Cara Lego and Legonardo Davidy. These two builds are just full of fun play features and brilliant detail – and I’d knock over my black seas barracuda to proudly display this ‘set’ instead:

And I just LOVE this play feature:

Don’t forget to check out Cara Lego‘s photostream for some behind the scenes and some break downs on some of the more interesting bits.

Friday Night Fights – Tiny Turbos

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! Tonight, two tiny turbo titans will battle it out for our smallest round ever! Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the red corner we have Adam Janusick (SHARPSPEED) and his Firepower FCGT:

In the blue corner we have František Hajdekr and his Classic American Car:

Which builder packed more power into their tiny 4 wide chassis ?

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this bout by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, the Rover Round, Kosmas won 4-2. Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!

LEGO Miniland House of Cards

“Democracy is so overrated.” – Frank Underwood.

Brian Rinker (Âtin) treats us to a fantastic recreation of the House of Cards poster:

Great show. Great Moc. Enough said.

Manga scale Star Wars figures

The iconic cast of Star Wars characters has been immortalized in LEGO in may different styles over the years and Rod Gillies (2 Much Caffeine) has a fresh take on the Star Wars universe if they were Anime Manga characters:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Each figure is fantastically detailed and worthy of a blog post … even the base is fantastically done.

Vorfechter Strike Fighter

Sometimes people (myself included) forget that there is no air in space… so why is it spaceships always have to be so streamlined and sleek? So it’s refreshing to see Nick Trotta’s (tardisblue) latest wonder of a star fighter. It’s big, it’s beefy, and frankly it’s #awesome with a capital #.

Vorfechter: Perspectives

The details are just jam packed. The techniques are phenomenal. There are things done on this fighter I have no clue how he did it… and I’m not the only one that is stumped with his build. Which is why Nick takes the unfathomably amazing step to teach us exactly how it’s done by posting a build video:

Disney Princess Parade

Gregory Coquelz (Yatkuu) (and family!) has created this absolutely adorable display featuring several Disney Princesses all in one scene:

Can you spot them all?

You can take a closer look at this when it goes on display at the LEGO store in Raleigh, NC, USA, second half of March.

Friday Night Fights – Rovers Round

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! Tonight we end Rover month with a battle of two of the most realistic space buggies. Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the Mars corner we have Kosmas Santosa and his Space Exploration Rover:

Tengu the heavenly dog

I’m embarrassed to say I had no idea what a Tengu was before I saw Cade Roster’s (Apocalust) delightful build.

Using the new awesome Mixle sets, Cade has recreated this Japanese creature of legend:

Tengu, Mixelated!

The face is dead on and this little guy is just pure fun!

In space, even Sunday laundry is interesting

I don’t know about you, but I’m not not a big fan of laundry … but Wami Delthorn shows us a wonderful glimpse in the future where I won’t have to do laundry…

Intergalactic Laundry Day

While laundry is boring, Wami’s build is anything but. It’s chock full of wonderful details that begs the viewer to take a second look at just how beautifully built this scene really is… such as the interior of the washer, the sink, and my personal favorite – the grouting on the floor.

Friday Night Fights (Round 37)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! Tonight it’s a classic match of bots not seen since the rock’em sock’em days of old. Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the Yellow corner, Lu Sim (Messymaru) enters his thorough-breed beefy boxer:

In the Blue corner, ZephyrChaos comes in with sleek and agile fighter:

Luna (primal)

The Empire Builder

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Felix (Mountain_King), but he comes back with this fantastic Steam Punk Train which chugs along and connects his Empire:

Not only is this one of the most amazing trains I’ve seen, it’s also of course a fully functional train. Felix tells us that inside this beauty there are 4 power function XL motors, the battery pack, the IR receivers and a bunch of LEDs! Oh and don’t forget to check out that awesome smoke work with the 2×2 round plates.

Check out more detailed shots of his train on his photostream.

Friday Night Fights (Round 36)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! I told myself I was’t going to get all sappy and do a Valentines Day Fight round …. but awesome MOCs are awesome MOCs, regardless of the occasion… plus I love bots. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

In the red corner Nathan Proudlove (Proudlove) gives us free hugs with Lovebot:
Lovebot wants a hug.

In the Pink corner, Chris McVeigh (pwerpig) transformers my heart with his Valentron:
Valentron Tranform!
