Lego Trump International Hotel and Tower

Sean Kenney recently built a 10 feet tall model of the Trump International Hotel and Tower with 65,000 Lego pieces. Different from other skyscraper sculptures I’ve seen, this one simulates the effect of the reflective glass on the actual building. This was achieved by building a pattern of the reflected skyline inside the transparent “glass” bricks. The illusion is simply stunning.

See more details and the techniques used on MOCpages. The model is on permanent display in the Chicago Lego store.

Release the Lego Kraken!

Lego.Skrytsson‘s depiction of the Kraken does it great justice. The teeth is just wow.

Build your name in Lego

Eli Carter (retracile) from TexLUG launched a business to make custom Lego nameplates. Simply enter the text and select a color scheme and you’re on your way to getting a kit that includes instructions and all the bricks to make the nameplate. The nameplate below with 10 characters will run $120, but keep in mind that a lot of time goes into assembling each order and the bricks themselves aren’t cheap. Check out BrickBuiltNamePlates.com to see what your name looks like in Lego.

Lego Nyan Cat

Joris Blok combines the viral Nyan Cat with our favorite plastic toy. I’m surprised the universe hasn’t imploded.

Ma.K NPU

It took me a few seconds to recognize a Lego part on Adrian Florea‘s newest creation. Either I’m a noob or Adrian used some really obscure pieces to good effect. The only non-purist element is a painted canopy.

Light-up Lego Tron lightcycle

Jared Burks (Kaminoan) used EL wires to light up a Tron lightcycle designed by Ewok in Disguise. The minifigure uses custom decals designed by the master customizer himself.

Amon Hen from Lord of the Rings in Lego

Blake Baer and Jack Bittner displayed their Amon Hen collaborative diorama at BrickFair earlier this month. They did an excellent job portraying the landscape and the ruins while adding some neat features such as the waterfall and striations in the rocks. There’s tons of detail shots in the gallery on MOCpages.

Aquestrian Metal

This piece of work by David Collins (intrond) fits in a unique genre that I can’t decide. It looks like a mix between a spaceship and a mechanical creature. The color blocking and the multifaceted chunks are pleasing to look at. A few stickers add the vital details.
