With fall finally here, my favorite time of year, a stroll in the woods is a delightful way to pass the time, strolling among quiet ruins as the fall leaves drift to the ground, as in this scene by LegoHobbitFan, which uses a variety of hair elements as billowy foliage. Log printed tiles make the perfect path, and a few of the trees are made with stud-shooters, turning weapons into trees.
While the Empire tends to shun non-human species, the Jedi embrace all beings with a connection to the Force. Although taking children from their families at a young age and indoctrinating them sounds like something the First Order would do. At any rate, this female dragon Jedi by B&W Bricks is a fantastic LEGO model, with dynamic limbs and a graceful pose, this warrior looks like she could give a Trandoshan slaver a sound beat-down.

TBB NEWS AND REVIEWS News was a little light this week, but we did get our first look at this year’s addition to the LEGO winter village line-up. And in movie news, the first BrickHeadz set from the Avatar franchise landed on our doorstep. The LEGO Ideas theme has led to many popular shows finding new life in plastic bricks, from The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, Friends, and more. The sets let fans recreate their favorite moments and scenes, and actors of major blockbuster movies like Star Wars, Jurrasic Park, and the Marvel franchise are not the only celebrities who get to collect minifig versions of themselves. Well, fans of the hit American show based on the hit British show The Office can finally join in the fun with LEGO Ideas 21336: The Office, which includes 1,164 pieces and will be available on Oct 1, 2022 for US $119.99 | CAN $144.99 | UK £104.99

This adorable LEGO vignette of two characters from the animated show Primal, by Dan Ko is a fun scene. Even though it was built with a small number of parts, it is big on charm with some very clever part usage, like the Minifig bowtie used for the dinosaur’s eyebrows, and the claw part used for the feet. But that single clip for the two spindly front legs is perfect.
It is always a treat to find a LEGO model that uses a non-traditional “element” such as this spaceship by Robert Heim that features a LEGO brand coffee cup in the shape of the Minifig-sized cup (the model includes 4 of those as well). The landing gear is also quite an interesting look, propping the ship up on a base built around the handle. LEGO products are made to such precise standards that a curved elements fits the shape of the handle perfectly.

Hide-and-seek is a game that some people take very seriously, like the person in this scene by PaulvilleMOCs. Try to find them… I’ll wait. When I first saw this build I thought it was a lovely model of a front porch, with solid building techniques and some well-made plants… okay, did I spoil it? I did, didn’t I? The plant on the left is actually a Collectible Minifig wearing a plant costume. I bet the seeker will have as much trouble finding them as I did.
Frequently featured LEGO builder Eli Willsea is on a roll with a series of vignettes, this time building a scene around a collectible Minifig and a crustacean, who share something something in common: The hermit and the hermit crab meet each other at the local watering hole. The candle piece is used to create several bamboo stalks above the scene and as a path for the crab to follow to the water. Recently released Ninjago sets that include the katana in lime green make perfect plants along each side.

Sometimes, when the hustle and bustle of city life wears you down, and you can’t bear the stress any longer, a trip to the great outdoors can be the perfect remedy. This scene by LEGO 7 with a father bear and his cub enjoying a camping and fishing trip tells a wonderful story. The jeep is packed with supplies, including a camp stove, lantern, fishing gear, and even a couple of folding chairs.
Oh, and in case you were wondering if they fit inside the vehicle like I was… they do! The stickers on the vehicle are a nice touch, and seeing junior looking out the back passenger window at the wild world going by is super-cute.
Builder Eli Willsea uses the barrel of a cannon to great effect as smokestacks in this intricate microscale factory. The many little buildings with red roofs make me think of something straight from the mind of Dr. Seuss, looking a lot like a scene from The Lorax. Tiny tread pieces are used to make ladders. Watch your step on your way home from a long shift, as this factory has one thing in common with Imperial construction… no handrails.
This microscale model of St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv, Ukraine, built by Christian Rau is instantly recognizable with its four angled towers topped by gold spires, and its colorful greenish-teal domes. I love the small details of light blue peeking out behind the white grills. The cheese sloped attached sideways gives the church front a visual interest. Cheese slopes are also used to form the curved central tower.
The model is a near-perfect replica of the actual building, which sits at the top of a hill in the middle of the city overlooking the Dnipro river.
