Don’t let out a sound, and run for your life

Builder Heikki M. is known for creating very realistic settings of rooms paired with clever photography angles. However, this blood-chilling scene sent a tingle down my spine after one look. A door slightly ajar and a trail of splatter across the floor tiles leaves room for anyone’s imagination to run wild. The visual cues of the grandfather clock past midnight which seems to be missing a pendulum gives it an eerie timestamp of the event taking place.

Heikki reassures us that the fake blood is leftover from the last Halloween’s party, but I’m more concerned if the stains are going to come off!

Third San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO exclusive revealed as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp [News]

The third and final set out of the three VHS-boxed-exclusives has been revealed and it is not a surprise to see a Marvel franchise attached to the theme. Ant-Man is featured as a bust together with a Wasp minifigure from the upcoming movie, emerging out of the bay in Giant-Man form (as seen in the trailers).

Bite-Sized Defender of the Universe

While the 2,300-piece LEGO Ideas Voltron takes the big stage with its recent reveal, we couldn’t help but also notice this tiny little BrickHeadz version by curtydc. With emphasis on the signature headpiece and the primary colors for the rest of the body parts, they make it instantly recognisable. The introduction of the Round 1×1 Quarter Tiles back in 2016 has given a smaller builds like these more detailing.

Evil George seals the fate of a family of innocent mice

I ain’t gonna lie, I’m calling it as I see it. I see a character with a side profile eerily similar to George Lucas. And it seems like he’s trapped a family of mice in the crawlspaces behind the wall by not only cutting off their food supply but sealing their fate to starve, behind an inescapable wall. I guess George is just bored these days with little to look forward to since he sold the Star Wars franchise to Disney. If you’re wondering where builder Nick Sweetman got those sand-green wall patterned bricks, they’re pretty rare, since the piece only appeared in a single LEGO set, 76062 Batman Classic TV Series Batcave.

A day building with LEGO bricks is time well spent!

What may seem like an ordinary LEGO build of a clock face is more than meets the eye. I’m extremely impressed with the tessellation of bricks to form an almost perfect circle for the clock face on a flat surface. LEGO bricks are inherently blocky and angular, and it’s pretty tough to form a round plate. I’m not sure how long it took Jason Pyett to figure this out, but it’s surely time well spent with the outcome achieved!

Tintin and Captain Haddock brought to life in LEGO BrickHeadz form [Instructions]

This will surely strike a chord with fans of the famous adventurers from the long-running comic book series by Belgian author Hergé. Builder Per Martinson applies the characters’ familiar colour tones to a simple build that’s instantly recognisable. Instructions are provided to add this to your custom BrickHeadz collection.

I have the Powerrrrrr!!!!

I still remember He-Man and the Masters of the Universe during the days when there were no on-demand streaming services and we actually had to plan and time ourselves to catch the next episode. Then there was the daily bombardment of commercials to mesmerise us with fantasy scenes that we would recreate if we could only get our hands on these tempting toys. Johan Alexanderson has masterfully recreated the Castle of Grayskull play-set together with tiny characters to represent the plastic figures — like a time machine to tease our nostalgic memories.

The model built features the same concept as the original design from Mattel back in the 80s. It has the capability to swing the castle open and closed to reveal play features at the rear.

Making their appearance as part of the now converted play-theme into LEGO bricks are the unforgettable Orko, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, and many more in a tiny minimalistic build format. They may not be in their exact shapes with the limits of the bricks, but their colour schemes give them away immediately. Are you able to spot your favourites amongst them?

Heartlake City Central Base Station

This Friends-themed Star Wars diorama by Tyler Sky is simply delightful! I can’t imagine these mini-dolls preparing for a battle, but it’s pretty much a winner in my books anyway. It’s got a great theme, and the Friends sparkle isn’t overwhelming–just enough of a touch of the familiar colour palette to give it the feeling of a semi-serious scene from Heart Lake City. The mini-dolls sporting Rebel helmets are a perfect fit as the brave pilots. A closer look shows the typical slot where the Astromechs are seated is now co-piloted by favourite furries, with a transparent dome for protection.

Theme aside, the construction of the Friendly Y-Wing is also quite well thought out. Clever uses of parts include a basketball net for the ion jet turbine exhausts and tread links to form the vectral rings at the very end of the engine pods.

The art of painting with bricks

I love how LEGO bricks can be used to express and build subjects other than the usual way we see 3-dimensional stacks of bricks. Sheo pulls this off very well with a portrait entitled “Evelyn.” When I first had a look at this, it reminded me of an art form that’s so very familiar yet I still can’t put my finger on it — elegant and polished with clever use of tiny accessories or parts that seem to just blend in like that cutlass forming the bridge of her nose.

While the portrait of Evelyn enchants, the Trickster featured below hints at an evil, mysterious character.

LEGO BrickHeadz 41626 Groot and Rocket from Avengers: Infinity War revealed [News]

BrickHeadz are being introduced fast and furiously this summer. The latest feature is the duo from Avengers: Infinity War, featuring Rocket Raccoon and teen Groot. In a similar configuration to the LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz: 41615 Harry Potter & Hedwig we just reviewed, Rocket Racoon comes in the 3×3 configuration while teen Groot is built to the standard BrickHead 4×4 size. LEGO hasn’t announced the release date or price yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you that info as soon as its available.

Get primal, go bananas, gone ballistic!

It may seem like Vincent Kiew took a page right out of the Planet of the Apes from the big screen for this creation, and it’s a good page to pick from, starring a primal ape heavily armed and ready to go bananas. Those scary-looking cartridges in the ammo carrier feature a nice use of red lever bases, while the ears look perfect with the 1×1 tooth tiles.

The Life of a Sentient Machine or is it all a Dream?

This piece of digital art was painted with LEGO elements that we’re familiar with — Technic gears and System tiles. Anthony Wilson provokes thought and makes one peek deep into the depths of the machine. What is the machine? Who is the machine? A still of a slender wanderer perhaps, navigating an endless journey. What is he searching for? The sharp and protruding edges give a sense of evil and danger ahead. Do the elements rearrange themselves to hinder the wanderer or do they give heed to his commands? Or are these the dreams of the toiling, tired and weary LEGO fan in preparation for tomorrow’s brick convention?
